Best Safari experience
5/5

We had a very great time at the Akagera National park! Such a beautiful place with amazing animals. We were able to see a lot of animals such as black and white rhinos, giraffes, lions, hippos, monkeys, baboons and different types of birds. Many thanks to Peter for all the support and guidance booking this amazing experience. Also thank you to Justin our tour guide. He was very informative, kind and helped us look for the animals. This is a place you must visit when you go to Rwanda.

Amazing and Trustworthy!
5/5

This was my first solo vacation, and I chose to visit Kigali, Rwanda, as I have been before and was familiar with the country but I specifically came to experience the gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park and to take a much-needed break. The trek exceeded all of my expectations—it was not only a great exercise in nature but also an incredible opportunity to learn about the country's conservation efforts. Seeing the gorillas was one of the most profound experiences of my life.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Silverbird Tours Agency, specifically Mr. Peter who helped me organize everything smoothly while I was in Ethiopia. I also want to especially thank Mr. Justin who drove me for 6 whole hours without tiring! They were incredibly helpful, informative, kind, and, above all, protective. They answered all my questions and made the experience truly memorable.

Thank you for an unforgettable trip.

A beautiful adventure
5/5

Last month, we had the incredible opportunity to spend four days in Rwanda, exploring its stunning wildlife with Peter from Silver Bird as our guide.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. Peter guided us through each visit, sticking to the planned schedule with precision and without any hiccups.

We visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and then traveled north to seek out the majestic mountain gorillas and the enchanting golden monkeys.

Throughout the journey, Peter was exceptionally accommodating, fulfilling some of our special requests and even adding a few extra stops.

Our experience exceeded our expectations, and we wholeheartedly recommend Silver Bird for planning your adventure.

Informative and knowledgeable tour operator
5/5

Silverbird Tours was recommended to us by a Rwandan colleague. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, thorough and extremely patient as we were traveling with a toddler. The drive and sunset boat ride exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Silverbird Tours.

My experience with Silverbird was nothing short of amazing. Justin was the absolute best guide I could have asked for and made it a day I will remember forever. He went above and beyond, making me feel so welcomed in Rwanda and he was so well informed on the history and key points of Rwanda.

The booking of the tour was seamless and easy. The staff went out of there way to ensure I had the experience of a lifetime :)

The gorilla hike was tough, but totally rewarding and the gorilla experience wonderful. So close and intimate experience.

The best Safari Tour in Rwanda!!!
5/5

Peter was an amazing guide who made it his mission for me to see at least 1 of the Big 5 as it was my first ever Safari.

Communication with the guide and agency was perfect. They sent me reminders and confirmations on the days leading up to the Safari.

100% recommend to anyone visiting Rwanda!

Excellent care and service for my boss in Akagera National Park
5/5

I contacted Silverbird to help arrange a very last-minute tour of Akagera National Park for my boss. I believe I contacted them within a week of her intended visit. I live in the United States, so even with a 6-hour time difference, Silverlake proposed an itinerary, accepted feedback, made revisions, and completed my payment in almost exactly 24 hours, continuing to communicate with me long after regular business hours in Rwanda.

Throughout my boss's visit, they kept in near constant communication with me, confirming her pick-ups and drop offs, sending me a list of wildlife highlights she experienced during her game drives, and even sent me a photo! She received VIP care, while I received peace of mind.

My boss's feedback of the trip was that it was a "terrific" tour. She specifically singled out Justin as an excellent guide, who she highly recommends.

I would eagerly trust Silverlake again in the future for any travel to Rwanda. Highly recommended!

Exciting Tour!
4/5

I went to Akagera for a day with Silverbird and they tried hard to find a travel compagnon for me as I did not want to go on my own. At Akagera Justin tried hard to find all the animals. We did and the Safari car was excellent for this. If you want to have indept information about wildlife at Akagera, book a ranger in addition. overall: recommendable.

Trip to Nyungwe National Park
5/5

Every time I have visited Rwanda for work, I've reached out to Peter and Silverbird Tours Agency to schedule side trips. On two previous trips, I booked trips with Silverbird to visit Akagera National Park and the mountain gorillas. In March of this year, I contacted Peter regarding Nyungwe National Park.

Peter put together an amazing 2-day itinerary, starting from Kigali. On the way to Nyungwe, we stopped at the fascinating King's Palace with its replicas of traditional, thatched royal quarters as well the modern palace of Rwanda's last king. The long-horned Inyambo cattle, descendants of the king's herd, are alone worth the trip. There is also a lovely outdoor cafe with very good food and an excellent souvenir shop on the grounds.

The next day, we tracked chimps early in the morning - after about an hour or so, our guides located a group traveling on the ground and followed them as they moved up into the tree canopy. We spent a good two hours with the chimps sitting in trees above our heads. After lunch, we hiked through a primordial forest to a breathtaking waterfall. It was truly a spectacular hike, one of the best of my life. The park ranger assigned to us (you cannot hike on trails in Rwandan national parks without one) was impressively knowledgeable - she knew the Latin name of every tree and bird I asked about. During the return trip, a cloud descended on the forest to create a dreamlike scape of silhouetted parasol trees, ferns, and tangled vines, with a few pops of color from wildflowers along the path.

After the hike, we visited a group of women working on a tea plantation to learn about the process of tea production - how tea leaves are picked and sorted by hand before they are bagged and sent to a nearby factory for processing. We joined the women and practiced picking leaves ourselves. Afterwards, we stopped at a local shop to try samples of tea, learn more about how teas are tasted and assessed at auctions (tea tasters are like wine sommeliers in their knowledge and ability to pinpoint where a particular tea originates) and purchase dried tea to take home. (FYI, Rwandan tea is among the most highly valued tea in Africa.)

The next day, we did the famous canopy walk inside Nyungwe, an experience that literally took my breath away: I'm not usually afraid of heights, but my breathing immediately became sharp and shallow, and I had to consciously calm my nervous system down a bit! The suspension bridge rocked a bit, which didn't help, but we continued on, above the broccoli tops of ancient trees and the forest floor far below - suspended above the tapestry of tangled branches and vines that yesterday formed the verdant, living ceiling towering above us on our hike to the waterfall.

After the canopy hike, we stopped at the Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre, one of several genocide memorials across the country. The Murambi Centre is on the campus of a former technical college, where some 20,000 Tutsis were killed in 1994. It's hard to put in words the impact of visiting this memorial, one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had. It's a very emotionally difficult place to visit, but I was very grateful to Peter for including this stop. I've read quite a bit about the genocide, but it's an altogether different experience to visit a place where it happened.

Before reaching Kigali, we made two last stops: a coffee plantation started by a Rwandan where we sampled some of the best coffee I've ever tasted and an elegant cafe/craft shop (unfortunately, I forget the name) before we arrived back up in Kigali.

I was truly amazed by how many great and varied experiences Peter put together in only 2 days. I've now experienced three of the best short trips of my life with Silverbird. I trust Peter and his team immensely and always enjoy his company. I now consider him a friend and will be sure to contact him again next time I'm in Kigali.
