The perfect mix of expertise, customer orientedness and quality
5/5

Feedback to Bev Miller and colleagues : THANK you for the unforgettable experience you gave us with this magnificent travel arrangement. It will be a lifelong highlight for me as long as my brain will work properly.
A nice compliment to Trevor who helped the full day Kruger safari to become an unforgettable birthday.
Specifically to Bev : you are the BEST person who crossed our path during our wonderful South Africa trip. Hannah and I will always remember your friendliness and how your arrangements and efforts were targeted and did contribute to our joy of travelling through your country.

Feedback to Zarafa (if you want to pass it on) : very nice setting and environment.
Enough space, beautiful accomodation, coffee and tea available.
Barry was very welcoming and friendly.
We received a very nice breakfast and lunch box for the full day Kruger safari, very much appreciated.
Some minor attention points :
- I would have loved a table in the (spacious sleeping) room to sit at, and to arrange my papers and read
- I missed a good reading lamp at the bedside
- Several power sockets were not easily accessible

Feedback to Umkumbe River Lodge (if you want to pass it on) : nice and professional welcome by our guide Shannon who looked after us during our stay.
The 'Buffalo' lodge was big, nice and clean. Coffee and tea available.
The careful arrangement of the mosquito nets was appreciated.
The safari drives with Shannon were excellent (4 x leopard, pangolin !).
Good meals : lunch, BBQ diner and buffet breakfast.
Beautiful river view at the restaurant.
Some minor attention points regarding the lodge :
- The outside shower was difficult (temperature either too cold or too hot, balance was difficult)
- WiFi in the lodge would have been appreciated
- International power socket would have been nice

We did our homework...Narrowed Down to Elephant Herd from 5 vendors, NO REGRETS!!
5/5

We first found out about Elephant Herd "EH" through Safari Bookings. We have reached out to approximately 5 service providers, and ultimately settled for Elephant Herds for 3 simple reasons:

1) Fast Bias of Action
2) Customer-Oriented/Hospitality
3) Price - Experience Ratio

Where it took us about 3-4 days on average to hear back from other providers, EH on average came back in 0.5-1 day, with very concise and informative experience. Not only was Bev super patient, she was practical - and even proposed a couple version of itineraries to our needs.

We coordinated with Bev, and found out it's a relatively cozy family-owned dedicated team, where they focus on the quality instead of quantity of service. For example, due to a delay of flight from Europe, we missed Day 1's night safari drive - team EH was proactive enough to suggest on their own accord a replacement in Day 2, allowing us the full experience, we even had the owner Brandon picked us up one of the evenings himself.

In terms of Price - Experience ratio, team EH ensures the best - for example, in typical Kruger safari drives - most cars would be loaded to the maximum of 9, whereas in EH, they focus to ensure no more than 6 per jeep. These are the small little things that stands out.

We also had a lovely time with one of their guides, Bhekifa, and it felt more like a tour with a long lost friend, that has deep knowledge and great hospitality across.

Once again, a big thank you to team EH for the fantastic experience - they may not be the biggest in the industry, but they are certainly big in EXperience and ensuring a great memory in Africa.

Brandon is great with our requests and planned our bookings in three different lodges .
5/5

It was first time for our family of three visiting Kruger park areas from Vancouver BC Canada. We like to learn the local culture and do safari . Brandon ‘ company helped us booked lodges with great accommodation, food and experienced safari guides. He also provide us one of the best local safari guide to Kruger park. The half day in Kruger park , our guide already showed us the big five. It gave us a glimpse of what we will see more on the private reserve of other lodges.
It was truly amazing experience for our first S Africa trip.

Unbelievable trip of a lifetime!
5/5

Our trip, masterfully arranged by Bev of Elephant Herd Tours, was magical - the absolute trip of a lifetime. Within a relatively short time - 8 days - we got to see so much of South Africa and Eswatini. I travelled to Johannesburg on a work trip and then extended my stay to go on this safari, and I am so glad I did.
We had multiple safaris in Kruger, enjoyed incredible vistas on the Panoramic Route, and visited several well-known game reserves such as SabieSands, Kruger, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, and iSimangaliso. We got to enjoy the savannah, the bush, the mountains, the high and low veld, the coast, the estuary, and the Indian Ocean. Completely unforgettable moments, the accommodations were great - especially the Zarafa, which was magnificent in every way - we saw the big five multiple times, had close-up and personal interactions with elephants, and got close to wild lions, spotted cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, monkeys etc. My teenage daughter learned so much about animals and nature conservation in the process.
Bev was flexible and adapted to our wishes when we had last-minute requests. We felt looked after and cared for the whole way; the guides were stellar, appeared to be having as much fun as we were, and were always ready to answer our many questions and provide in-depth, thoughtful answers. Highly recommend Elephant Herd Tours and all we encountered there, from Bev and Brandon in the office to Trevor and Wesley, Kallie, and everyone else at EuroZulu (namely Johan, Sabelo, and Siyabonga) who took us on several game drives and boat trips up the estuary. I would give this trip 10/5 stars if I could as it exceeded all expectations several times over. Amazing!

Incredibly professional and knowledgeable
5/5

We had 2 all-day safaris with Elephant Herd Tours & Safaris at the Kruger National Park.

Our guide, Remember, was prompt, courteous and provided warm blankets for us to use during the chilly early morning start to our excursions. He is exceptionally knowledgeable on all aspects of both the wildlife and the terrain and his commentary was not only informative but very funny! I’ll never forget “the ugly five” when we saw warthogs and hyenas 🤣🤣🤣

We were privileged to see ALL of the Big 5 too including the elusive white rhinos and a leopard after a kill. We had extremely close and exciting encounters with 2 lionesses and numerous herds of elephant and Cape buffalo! Utterly breathtaking!!

He was exceptionally kind and deeply concerned when our friends’ teenage son had a seizure in the safari vehicle while on our 2nd day out in the park and radioed ahead so we could be met by a closed vehicle to take us back to our resort earlier than expected.

This tour group is top notch and we couldn’t recommend them more highly!

The tour operator was an excellent guide, with a wealth of knowledge.
5/5

We had a range of ages in our group, from 87 - 15, so many different interests
Our guide was patient and kind and quickly realized that we were all seasoned wildlife travelers.
He drove until asked to stop for something specific, doing a route that offered the possibility of lions and leopards.
We had 3 wonderful lion sightings.
We were thrilled with every stage of our safari and can highly recommend Elephant Herd Tours and Safaris
