The BEST Safari Experience!
We had a great experience with Kihnido tours. It was so easy to book with them, they were very responsive through email and prompt/efficient on the pickup. The price was also very fair for the amount of travel/food/drink/accomodation/attentiveness and working hours the guide & staff puts in.
We had Michael as our guide, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better one! He was the amazing in every way. He was so attentive to our needs, incredibly friendly, funny and massively knowledgeable about all of the wildlife. He went above and beyond to make sure we seen every animal we wanted to see, told us so much information about everything we seen and we had the best safari trip with him. We also learnt so much from him about the Tanzanian life/people whilst on the drive to & from the park, which was so interesting. You can really see he loves his job and meeting new people, which makes it so special for us tourists. Thank you so much again Michael!

Trains + Lions + Local Culture = Dream fulfilled!
This trip was the perfect fit for the limited time we had (2 days) on the Tanzanian mainland. The newly electrified railway from the Dar es Salaam to the new capital Dodoma is up to US/EU standards - clean, comfortable, and well-serviced (no power outlets, but complementary water and snacks). The view is gorgeous (if you don't fall asleep - the ride is quite smooth). Definitely a worthwhile experience for a train-lover.
Our guide in the park was knowledgable and friendly. Mikumi National Park has a great density of animals -- we saw two prides of lions, dozens of giraffe, hundreds of Zebra and wildebeest, plus hippos, elephants, kudu, eland, warthogs, a crocodile, and a monitor lizard. You won't see rhinos (extinct in Tanzania), cheetahs (going to Serengeti for that), or leopards (rare), but all the other big famous wildlife are present. Great picture taking opportunities. Read more instance, if this is your favorite animal) and can choose how long to stay in the park. In spite of our jetlag, we choose to spend nearly the entire day until sunset in the park, because the wildlife was so good.
The nature walk and the visit to the Maasai village were also worthwhile. Though socially conscious travelers may feel uncomfortable taking part in the commodification of Maasai culture, particularly when you are encouraged to put on Maasai clothing yourselves and join in the dances, the villagers are clearly consenting to your visit and are paid (the visit only takes up 30-60 minutes anyway and does not seem particularly disruptive). The tour guide for the nature walk was himself a Maasai who grew up in the city and received a higher education -- he gave us a valuable perspective on the Maasai and Tanzania overall.
The Kihindo Tours office staff were helpful and communicative throughout our booking a visit. They helped up find a hotel last minute and contact the manager, since we had forgotten to book something for the night after the tour. On the whole, this was a terrific company to work with.

Perfect safari!
We took the safari by internet and immediately we had the message to explain exactly all the safari. All the transport were in time and very comfortable. They gives us all the ways to pay and they make us easy all the documents that we need to do the trip. The safari with salonike and Jackson was amazing!! They do all theirs effort to have the best photos and experiences in our safari . Thank you so much again for your patience teaching us the behaviours of the animals.

Welcoming and relaxed with a lot of knowledge.
For a three day tour it was the perfect choice from Dar, with really good vakue for the money. We especially enjoyed that we had three different safaris (by boat, car and foot) and the cosy resort (silent and genuine) with friendly and helpful staff!

Efficient, trustworthy, informative, helpful.
We used Kihindo for a round trip transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi, and for a full-day safari in Mikumi National Parc in November 2024. The price was very good, the communication was efficient and precise, the driver was safe, helpful and very knowledgeable, and the safari experience was amazing. We can absolutely recommend Kihindo for tours and safaris.

Experience and kindness.
I spent three days and two night safari with this tour operator, they took us from our hotel in Dar and brought us directly to the lodge in Nyerere national park! They have been so nice to get any of our requests. William, our guide was amazing, answering every questions we had and fulfilled our every request!

It was a fantastic trip.
We have got an excellent driver, who pick up us at the hotel. In the Safari Lodge we had a very nice stay. The room was lovely and very clean. The staff gave us a very good service and the food was great.

Great experience! We were a group of three from Finland and visited Mikumi for a 1-night, 2-day safari at the beginning of December. Everything was well-organized and went smoothly, from communication and pickups to activities. The accommodation and food were of high quality. Price was very reasonble. We highly recommend Kihindo Tours & Safaris if you’re planning a safari!
Our safari guide - Michael was really good, he had amazing positive energy and was very knowledgeable about Mikumi and the animals there. He was very dedicated to making sure that we would get the most out of our experience in Mikumi, whether that was seeing as many of the animals there as possible or giving us tidbits of information about various things regarding the national park. We were very glad that he was our guide for this safari. On the 2nd day we went on a bushwalk with a local Maasai guide, where we learned more about the plants and birds of the area before visiting a Maasai tribe to learn more... Read more about their way of life. It was a very enjoyable experience.
The timing (beginning of December) was perfect, with slightly cloudy weather that wasn’t unbearably hot, and it wasn’t peak tourist season. Mikumi is a great choice if you’re planning a short safari, as the area is smaller compared to the Serengeti, making it possible to see a variety of animals in a short amount of time.

Exellent service
Kihindo Tours and safaris were reliable and safe organisation for solo lady traveler. I felt safe and well looked after during whole time. My guide and driver were very good and they knew a lot of animals and their behavior, local nature and plants too. They both speak very good English, had good sense of humor and they were extremely polite and we had great time together during whole safari.
