A trip for life
5/5

At the end of January - beginning of Februart me and my partner have travelled through Kilimagiaro, trekking on the Marangu Route, and the Parks of Taranguire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, with Savannah Explores. It has been a unique experience: a tremendous us nature and landscape, but also a human experience, having spent two weeks with the guides and porters of the organization.
Trekking on Kilimangiaro is not an everyday thing. It requires strenght, spirit of adaptation, sensitivity. Dancan, our Italian speaking guide from the Masai tribe, toghether with Calvino, the over-the-top enthusiasm-maker, has made it possible, supporting us in all ways, providing stuff and comfort. All the porters who have carried our stuff up to the Kili have left a sign in our heart, from maître Jackson to chef Leopard. Surprized? Yes, on the trail we have had every day hot meals, freshly coocked, and hot water for washing.
Technically, I’ve had a health problem, and I couldn’t reach the Peak. Dancan has always been by my side, escorting me to the camp, while my partner got the top with Calvino and a porter. We will never forget and thank enough them for being so professional and friendly.
As for the facilities, the camps have no hot water, not always electric current (we had a solar panel but for 3 days there was no sun), not always Internet (if you are about to plan a trakking, take it into account). We had to share the hut only once in 5 days.

But the adventure continued.
We had a 5 days safari with another guide, Maolidi, which we called “Maurizio” or “Mau”. Mau is an excellent driver, speaks Italian very well, but above all he finds the animals. Always! We’ve travelled in the low season, but we have seen so many animals that we never expected. Mau knows the places (I still wonder how he gets hos bearing, without a navigator) and has an exceptional eye for spotting animals. Punctual, dicrete, professional: he has made the difference.
Both near Ngorongoro and in the Serengeti we stayed in a really stunning hotel and a glamour camp with all facilities.

Spectacular Sightings
5/5

We did a seven day (five full) covering Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti (south and central). Every day felt distinct and presented new exciting animal sightings. I kept thinking "we can't top that", but every day I had another wow moment.

Our tour guide, Jackson, was amazing. He clearly communicated the schedule for the day and provided details about the behaviours of the animals we saw. He was great with our 9 year old and accommodated sudden needs for bathroom breaks. Also, I'm pretty sure he had binoculars for eyes because his ability to spot animals was uncanny. He identified a rhino down in the caldera from a lookout high above Ngorongoro. Even with 7x binoculars it was still tiny. Unreal.

Some of our sightings included; a herd of Wildebeest (and a few zebras) crossing a lake (and then some of them crossed right back); giraffes galloping, eating, and looking at us with suspicion; lions sleeping and 100% not caring about us at all before disappearing in a bush that seemed too small to accommodate them; hyenas eating and others playing in the water; and cheetahs just being cats (thrilled we got to see them).

One day Jackson kept us out late because he'd heard that a leopard had been spotted. We had our way through the park and found her sleeping in a tree. While we watched she woke up, stretched, came down the tree, ran past the safari vehicles, up another tree, and started eating a kill she has stashed. Great experience. Hilariously, she was still there the next day, sleeping.

On our last day we came across a large herd of elephants (not our first) with juveniles of many ages. As we made our way down the road we found ourselves blocked by a large one who starred us down until the others had cleared the path. It made for some great photos.

Overall, a great experience.

P.S: I'm not an expert photographer (or any kind really) and everything I took was on my phone. So don't judge the experience by the quality of the photos, but the opportunities they represent.

Reliable, responsive and fun!
5/5

Service was excellent.
Agustin was great and very helpful with our itinerary. He was quick to answer all our questions and customized the tour to our needs.
Our guide, Jackson, was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and his suggestions were always on point. For example, we were ready to leave the wildebeest area and he suggested to wait a couple minutes. Just like he predicted, the wildebeest started to cross the river. Had we left, we would've missed that migration. It became a wonderful photo/ video opportunity. He's also a great spotter!
Highly recommend!

A wonderful experience
5/5

Our driver/guide, Jackson, was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the region.

He was able to answer a wide variety of questions about the animals, plants, and terrain we were seeing while smoothly operating the vehicle.

I was absolutely floored with his ability to notice animals from a distance. We were fortunate enough to encounter black rhinos two times but they were so far away we could not see them without using binoculars or scopes. Without his assistance we could have absolutely missed them.

As a note I recommend bringing a bandana or other face covering as there is some dust on the roads.

A Dream Safari for Our Honeymoon in Tanzania
5/5

We chose a safari in Tanzania for our honeymoon and it was an extraordinary experience.

Our guide, Evaristi, accompanied us on an unforgettable trip: a wonderful person and an excellent professional. We visited the Ngorongoro and Serengeti parks, where we could admire numerous animals and breathtaking landscapes.

The accommodations we stayed in were comfortable, with friendly staff and always attentive to the needs of the guests.

A heartfelt thanks to Savannah Explorer for making our honeymoon a truly unique experience!
