The best safari we ever had. The organisation was perfect.
An unforgettable excursion. We (2 adults and a 10 year old child from Austria) were picked up early in the morning on the first day by our driver Isaya. The car was very comfortable and everything was well organised. Isaya was very nice and provided us with information on the 5 hour drive to Mikumi National Park. It was a great journey and we heard and saw a lot about the country and its people. We had lunch in a restaurant. This was also included and the food was delicious. We arrived at Camp Bastian around 2pm. The camp was beautiful and also had a great pool, which our daughter was very happy about. At around 4 pm we drove to the Maasai village. The Maasai danced and there was a guided tour of the whole village. Our Maasai Saloniki explained everything to us and it was super informative. At 6pm we drove back to camp and had dinner. The food was buffet style and very tasty. Our room was huge. It was clean and the bathroom was huge. The next day we left very early after breakfast for the national park. We had a huge open jeep for the three of us alone. We had two guides with us. Saloniki and Jackson. Both were great and were very keen to tell us everything about the animals and that we would see lots of them. They read the tracks and followed them. That day we were the only ones in the park to see the lions because our guides were so attentive. We had lunch in the park. This was also in buffet form and was again very tasty. Our tour of the park didn't end until 6.30am and we saw so many animals and learnt so much.
The next day we travelled back to Dar es Salaam with our driver Isaya. It was another great journey and we then had lunch in Dar es Salaam itself. We had no additional costs apart from tips (which everyone really earned) or souvenirs. I can really recommend this tour with Kihindo Tours and Safari to everyone. There was nothing to complain about. I organised the organsition myself through Winnie from Kihindo tour. She was super quick to respond and answered all my questions. Great organisation and great people.

An Unforgettable Safari Experience
I think it was a good decision to choose Kihindo Tours for my safari because all the staff were excellent.
The pickup service arrived at my hotel on time at 5 AM, which gave me peace of mind and allowed me to start my journey smoothly. I then took the SGR to Morogoro, and upon arrival at the station, my driver to Mikumi National Park was very friendly. He made the transfer to the park’s entrance enjoyable and comfortable.
Mikumi National Park is home to many animals, and my guide there was particularly kind and knowledgeable. He made an effort to bring me closer to the animals, allowing me to observe them up close. Thanks to him, I had a truly wonderful experience. During the safari, I was fortunate to see a variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, and hippos. It was an unforgettable experience to witness these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.
Spending just one day in Mikumi National Park was not enough to fully appreciate its beauty. I wish I had more time to explore and enjoy the park.
Overall, the staff were kind and professional, and their follow-up after the booking was also excellent, which made the whole experience even more satisfying. I am very glad I chose this company.

One day in animal paradise visit from Dar es Salaam
This was unexpectedly hilarious experience! The staff members of KIHINDO Tours and Safaris communicated with us immediately after we booked our trip. They organized the pick up from our hotel in Dar es Salaam and were always on time at each step of the trip to drive us between the hotel and the train station, and between the train station and the park. They took care of train travel reservations and booked business class tickets for us (by the way, a nearly two hour long train trip was amazing with stunning views, clean train, and kind stuff offering coffee, tea, and small bites for free). Michael drove us between the train station and the park. He was exceptionally kind and friendly; he told us useful information, drove very safely, and even took us to a souvenir store on our way back. In the park, Saloniki was our guide while Adam drove us safely and always stopped the truck whenever we wanted to admire wild animals moving around us. These guys knew exactly where to go to ensure the best animal views for us (we saw giraffes, elephants, zebras, and other animals just walking or running in front of or behind our truck). Saloniki shared with us interesting facts about all the encountered animals. They took us for lunch in the middle of our safari expedition and it was delicious! Buffet lunch with multiple options for both vegetarians and meat-lovers. They also provided bottled water while we were driving through the park. We had a morning game drive and an afternoon game drive after lunch. We even saw sleeping lions or hippos resting while submerged in a pond.
We had limited time to visit safari and within one day we saw more than expected (over 12 wild animals!). We highly recommend this company for one-day safari trips if you’re visiting Dar es Salaam and neighboring areas. Very efficient and safe experience for a reasonable price - it’s a really good deal. The professionalism, reliability, and kindness of organizers were impressive! It was a safe and fun drive through a magnificent safari park. Hundreds of pictures and videos that we took will help us to keep valuable memories of this trip.
Thank you KIHINDO Tours and Safaris for making our day so exciting and unforgettable! I’m just looking at the pictures from this trip and smiling. So precious! Worth every spent penny!

Organized affordable yet still knowledgeable
I think it is best to split this review into two parts. The tldr however is that our safari with Kihindo was wonderful.
Pre-safari
The organisation all occurred last minute over WhatsApp with the wonderful Winnie who answered all of my questions and concerns (of which there were many) swiftly and clearly. The price was exactly as advertised with no additional taxes charged etc etc. We were picked up from our hotel by someone from the agency and dropped of exactly where we wanted to be by our guide at the end.
The safari
The safari it's self was spectacular, we went to Nyerere national park for 3 days and 2 nights and had a very knowledgeable guide named Isa. Our first day we arrived to a very nice lodge were greeted by the staff there offered a drink and asked when we would like to lunch (as they would ask for every meal) the accommodation was spacious and clean. The game drive went spectacularly as our guide knew the park and animals very well we saw so much, and although a lot of it is based on luck I believe having a good guide really increases your chances.
All in all we had a wonderful trip filled with incredible encounters and are planning to do another safari with Kihindo in 3 days largely due to how wonderful the last one was.

Amazing!
We were five students from Norway that took the day trip safari from Dar es Salaam. The travel to the park went very smoothly, and it was very easy to communicate with the people driving us places.
When we got to the park, we met with the driver that would take us through the safari, and we could not be happier. Danford was an amazing guide, who gave lots of fun facts about the animals, he even went back to show the lions twice, cause we were so excited about it!
In the park there are a lot of animals, and we got to see so many very close to us. This trip was definitely worth the money!

Making our safari the best
We took a safari during low season, so there wore less animals and less turist. Our accommodation were nice, very quiet and relaxing and good food. The guide try very hard to show all the animals and we learn alot from the driver. Very nice experience!

An Unforgettable Safari Experience in Nyerere & Mikumi!
Our safari in Nyerere and Mikumi was truly an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide than William.
William was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the wildlife but also about the plants and the rich history of Tanzania. He shared fascinating insights throughout the trip, making every moment even more special. His deep respect for the environment and the animals was evident, ensuring we had an ethical and responsible safari experience.
Beyond his expertise, William was also extremely friendly, always available for any questions, and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. Thanks to him, we saw an incredible variety of wildlife and learned so much along the way.
We highly recommend this safari agency and, most of all, William—he truly made our trip exceptional! If you’re planning a safari, look no further.

Incredible nature sights and educative tour guide in Mikumi National park
I traveled with Kihindo Tours and Safaris to Mikumi National Park in December, accompanied by three friends. Our tour guide, William, picked us up from our accommodation in Dar es Salaam early in the morning, around 6 a.m., and we drove together to our hotel near the park. In the evening, we visited a Maasai village where we had the opportunity to take part in a Maasai tour. The guide taught us about their way of life and showed us around, which was an enriching experience. We then returned to the hotel and enjoyed dinner at their restaurant.
The following day began with breakfast at 6 a.m., followed by a short drive to the national park. On the way, we already saw several animals, including zebras, antelopes, and giraffes. We quickly realized that luck was on our side, as we managed to spot four of the Big Five in just a few hours (there are no rhinos in Mikumi, which is the fifth of the Big Five). Throughout the day, William, our exceptional guide, took the time to explain the characteristics of each animal we encountered and answered all of our questions with great care. Lunch was served at a restaurant within the park, where we were accompanied by monkeys roaming around the area, all while enjoying a beautiful view of the savannah. We ended the game drive around 5 pm and were served dinner back at the hotel.
On the second day of the safari, the weather turned rainy, but this did not bother us, as we were in a vehicle with a roof—unlike most other safari companies we observed. It was actually quite beautiful to witness the dramatic transformation of the landscape as the rain began, and it added to the surreal feeling of being immersed in nature. We informed William that we wanted to experience a more relaxed, "slow TV"-style safari, simply watching the animals at our own pace, which he was more than happy to accommodate. His flexibility and attentiveness made the experience even more enjoyable, and I appreciated this personal touch, which was a major advantage of having a private guide.
On the third day, we had a travel day, as we drove back to Dar es Salaam and were dropped off at the ferry terminal for our trip to Zanzibar. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable experience, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Kihindo Tours and Safaris to anyone considering a safari in Tanzania.
