Well organized excursion and close follow-up on bookings
Mid-November 2022 I participated to the mountain gorilla excursion, organized by Makario Safaris.
Up to the date of the trekking, the tour operator was closely following up on all arrangements (questions from our travel group, practicalities, etc.).
On the day of the trekking, the tour operator came to our hotel to ensure that everybody was en route to the right destination and with the right group. Our driver was very kind and also our guide on site was very nice and taught us everything we wanted to know about the gorillas (same for the trackers, who ensured our safety and following the instructions when approaching the gorilla family).
Meeting Pablo's family was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which I would recommend anybody travelling to Rwanda!
At first, I was frozen to the ground when seeing them for the first time, but the guide and the trackers ensured that we all felt safe and got more comfortable overtime. They did a great job and the gorillas were amazing too! :)

Good experience, well organized
We paid 340$ for a 1-day safari.
The organizer was very kind and answered every question we had before arriving. The departure was on time. The car/truck was very good and comfortable.
We had some issues with the mandatory covid test which is useless since we were all already in the car for 2 hours and we do not approach the animals. We almost missed the boat ride because the waiting line was too long, maybe it was bad luck, but we made it so it's ok.
Other than that, the driver was excellent, and most importantly he spotted every detail and guessed right on every direction to see all the animals we wanted.
Crocodiles, hippos, birds, warthog, zebras, lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes are the animals we spotted, not far from us! It was amazing.
It was a great experience and I do recommend it.

I booked the one day gorilla visit. It was an amazing experience. Makario Safaris was very efficient from day one. Answered all our many questions, arranged a perfect schedule, comfortable transport and very kind and professionel driver and guide.

Makario Safaris does go a long way to make your safari a success
We went to Akagera National Park in Rwanda from Kigali. A one-day trip. Communication was very timely and clear. Starting at 5:00 am on a quite Sunday morning, the trip to Akagera was already an experience. Along the way we had breakfast and coffee. The Landrover was comfortable, and the driver very skilled and diligent. We drove all the way from South to North of the Park, having an excellent lunch in between. In the morning we had a boat trip and already saw a lot of animals and birds, but late afternoon arriving in the North of the Park we also saw the elephant herd and the magnificent plane with an abundance of animals. We can surely recommend the tour.

The offer for the tour didn't fit with the real tour.
We, my husband and I , booked a 3 day lasting Safari tour including a sight seeing tour in Kigali and entering the park and check in at the Lodge in the Akagera National Park on the first day.
On the second day we made a Safari tour in the Akagera National Park.
BUT on the third day a Safari experienced person of our group ordered an additional guide in advance who was specialized on birds. We weren't asked nor informed of this special bird tour on the third day of our Safari tour. The tour partially was very detailed discussing about the shape of the wings or colour of the bird legs.
We think being not informed of this special bird tour in advance is not a client friendly policy. We even still don't know if we had and how much we had to pay for the additional guide / additional programme we didn't order.
Btw Jimmy, our main guide did a great job.

Hamidi & Pierre were both attentive, friendly, professional, and cordial during both our tours.
I was fortunate to go on TWO tours with Makario while in Kigali for a conference. The city tour takes you to multiple different vibrant locations within the capital, while the Gorillas tour is a bucket list excursion that I would suggest for anyone. While the latter was expensive, a majority of the fee goes to the park itself to maintain security and lifestyle for the gorilla families.
The experiences were amazing, and I really want to thank Hamadi and Pierre for an incredible job. They were both informative, cordial, professional, safe, and wonderful people. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful staff and country with us. When I refer people to experiences in Kigali, it will be synonymous with "Makario". We have been very happy to work with you and those other guests we've spoken with at the conference all agree.
