Fantastic 12 day tour Kenya&Uganda
Mega wild was a fantastic safari experience! We went on the 12 day trip through Kenya and Uganda to see Gorillas and had a great time.
From the start we had great communication with Anne who helped us plan the whole trip via email and spoke on the phone to arrange payment. We were a little wary of using the ‘wise’ app for payment as we had not heard of it before, but this is used a lot in Africa and worked really well and there were no problems.
We were picked up in Nairobi by our guide Alex in a great 4x4 safari truck and had lots of room to relax and settle in. We visited the Masai Mara, lake Nakuru and Amboseli and saw many wonderful animals (with the roof popped up). Alex was great at finding the animals and told us lots of information on them. The accommodations were stunning, big beautiful lodges set within the parks with nice pools and good buffet food.
We then had an amazing week exploring Uganda with our guide Dalson! Our journey started with pick up from Entebbe and a long drive to Kibale forest national park, but Dalson provided refreshments, Wi-Fi and kept us well entertained on the way! Stopping occasionally to give us interesting information on locals and their work, for example the charcoal making. We had an amazing time chimp trekking in Kibale then went on a local community walk around a swap, coffee farm and banana plantation. We then went on to Queen Elizabeth national park for a wonderful game drive and a boat trip where we saw lots of animals! We then went to Bwindi for Gorilla trekking which was amazing. Dalson was always very cheerful, happy to stop when needed for rest breaks, happy to talk to us and answer any questions. We also made some last minute changes to our plans which Dalson helped us with and chose some great accommodation for us! We would definitely recommend Dalson to anyone going to Uganda and we hope to see him again some day (maybe at an arensal game!).
Our only feedback was that the Uganda van was not AS nice as the Kenya 4x4, but was still big, comfortable and the roof popped up, just didn’t have the same aesthetics as the classic ‘safari 4x4’.
We would definitely recommend Mega Wild safaris. And don’t be afraid to ask questions and rearrange itinerary to suit you, they are more than accommodating!

Great experience, great memories and a great guide!

Excellent experience
We did an 8 day safari with Mega Wild Safaris. Working with Anne to organize a custom tour (we wanted to hike, cycle, boat, and fish in addition to game drives as well as stay multiple nights at the same hotels) over Christmas was very easy. She also assured me I would have no problems having a food intolerance well addressed during our safari and was 100% correct. (Gluten-free at Panafric Nairobi, Enashipai in Naivasha, The Ark, and Sarova Lion Hill in Nakuru was very easy to find and chefs/signage were very helpful).
Our guide Edwin was excellent, friendly, informative, exemplified professionalism, and was flexible when we needed slight changes to our itinerary due to illness etc. He really worked to make sure we had the best trip possible.
The accommodation options were mostly excellent (Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi where we started and ended was not the best- very small room, bathroom so small it was nearly unusable, lost our booking, sliding door to outside did not lock) and we felt that we got good value for our money. We were taken by surprise late in planning stages that we had to pay quite hundreds of dollars more in Christmas supplements and that a spot we had planned to visit was closed, so had to adjust our safari accordingly. Additional due diligence on the part of Mega Wild may have been helpful in that regard so there weren't surprises.
I definitely recommend Mega Wild Safaris when planning a safari to Kenya.

Excellent Experience
We did a 10 day safari with Mega Wild Safaris. Our guide Dalson was excellent and was really great company for our whole trip around Uganda. Dalson pulled out all the stops to make sure we had the best trip possible. Communication and planning was very easy and efficient. The accommodation options were mostly excellent and we felt that we got very good value for our money. There were some hiccups along the route but they didn’t get in the way of a 5 star trip and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mega Wild Safaris and Dalson. Thanks!

Our tour operator provided us with the best guides ever!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip in Africa - Kenya and Uganda. Our guides Patrick and Dalson made sure about this - they were very attentive, reliable throughout and did all they could to make sure we had the best holiday possible. I would definitely recommend them.
I preferred Uganda while my friend preferred Kenya. My choice is due to the fact that the programme was more at leisure and more varied in activities - Kenya had some early starts and long hours in jeep and heat; I would have liked a little more time to settle into a hotel and chill a bit especially since the accommodation the tour operator chose for us were great. I would have done either lake Nakuru or Amboseli in a week's trip - not both. Probably would choose Nakuru as less driving. But, I know my friend would want to do it all once again so it does depend on personal differences.
The accommodation was good, comfortable, and clean throughout the trip. The food and service were also very good too. The accommodation close to Bwindi was a bit lower in standards - mostly in terms of the service, lack of warm water, poor lighting, and internet.
Transportation - I hated that mountain road to see the gorillas but I guess that can't be helped :). It is recommended to have a proper safari jeep rather than a van.
Some points for reference:
1. US dollars are preferred and only the new ones are accepted - and papers need to be flat, clean - no tears, no gem marker etc.
2. Despite paying a lot for this trip (a 2 week trip in Africa has cost us as much if not more than anywhere else in the world including the US/Canada; Central and South America; Asia) one is still expected to fork out in tips .... daily.
3. Take some clothes, and sweets for the kids waving by the roadside.
4. Check all plans in detail with the tour operator beforehand since we had one or two miscommunications. However, these were rectified. Communication was regular prior to the trip and the guides could easily contact the operator during the trip.
5. Try to go to a local dance/performance show, it is worth it!

Awesome 15-day Safari Adventure in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda
We took a 15 day safari through Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. It was an amazing and life changing experience we will never forget. It was a great mix of game drives through various parks, visiting cultural areas and learning more about the communities. We also had some adventure such as hiking with gorillas, hiking with chimpanzees, and whitewater rafting the Nile! We had Stephen as a guide in Tanzania and Onan and Dalson as our guides in Kenya and Uganda. We could not have been more pleased. They really made the trip worthwhile. The guides can make or break a safari and these ones were awesome. Anne was the person I worked with to plan the trip and she was amazing with all of the nuance that I was seeking and making sure that this would be a perfect trip for myself, my wife, and two sons (18 and 16).
This has been my only safari so I can not honestly compare. However, I can say that Mega Wild Safaris completely exceed my expectations and ensured that we will be talking about this trip for the rest of our lives. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Such a great group, well organized!
Our guides Dalson and James were great and helpful throughout! There was enough structure to know what we were doing, but enough flexibility to make adjustments based on how we were feeling or the weather (which was perfect when we needed it!). The accommodations were great. There was a nice mix of sorta rustic (although still showers and flush toilets) and some higher end places. Dalson was able to switch our rooms one night when the previously planned hotel didn't have a functioning pool. We had just mentioned it in passing when we were in the van that we were excited to go swimming, we didn't request the change. Although we would have been fine either way, this highlighted how much Dalson was paying attention to us and able to flex into a different plan very quickly.
I wasn't in the planning stage, but I know Anne worked well with our group leader to determine the sights we wanted to see. The tour was varied and had a little bit of something for everyone, animals, scenery, culture and food! The locals were exceedingly nice and wanted us to all have a great time. This trip did highlight how much I've let myself get out of shape, but the guides and trackers were so good about making sure we could get to where we were going even when I was struggling.
I would not hesitate to recommend Megawild Safari to anyone considering a trip to Africa!

Always looked out for us on our fantastic tour!
We went on a 13 day tour of Rwanda and Uganda with Mega Wild Safaris. This was the trip of a lifetime for an unbelievably reasonable price. We saw everything! In Rwanda we drove on safari and tracked chimpanzees. In Uganda we spent time with mountain gorillas (sitting right among them), went lion tracking and found 2 prides plus 2 leopards, multiple safari trips and two boat safaris, one on the Nile. Saw so many hippos, crocodiles (huge), elephants, giraffes, rhinos, jackals lots of monkeys and birds. We were up close with all of them.
Our tour guides (James, Dalson and James) were so attentive and friendly. They were always watching out to make sure we had a perfect vacation. Our hotels were great and the food excellent.
No bugs, no issues at all! I highly recommend this tour company for African tours. The 13 day tour would be great for families or groups of friends, even alone if you so desire.

Trip of a lifetime thanks to our guides.
I travelled with a group of 6 other women and we could not have been more impressed by the level of service that our tour guides James and Dalson provided. They were knowledgeable and fun which made the long travel days exciting. The hotels that we stayed in were all on par or above for expectations and the staff at each stop were so welcoming. The experiences that Megawild set up were fantastic and we enjoyed every moment. Memories for a lifetime!
Anne was very responsive and attentive to our needs/wants during the safari
We were very pleased with the service we received from Mega Wild Safaris, Anne was very attentive to what we were wanting for our trip of a lifetime and was quick to respond to our emails/questions. We liked having someone local in Uganda because we think it made the price more reasonable and she had contacts in Uganda, our trip was booked for Uganda and Tanzania over the Christmas holidays.
Our driver in Uganda, Kassim, was the absolute best! Unfortunately, the airline lost our luggage for 6 days and finding medicine/necessities/clothing etc is not that easy but Kassim was very patient and we were able to get a few things so we could have the basics. Anne was instrumental in locating our luggage and was able to get it to the hotel where we were originally going to stay, because of the time and curfew it was a challenge getting it to us, but Kassim was able to get a couple of his friends to drive the 9 hours and we were able to have it before the Gorilla Trekking! We enjoyed the hotels in Uganda and Tanzania, in Uganda we stayed with the locals on holiday which was a wonderful experience and we met some of the nicest people we have ever encountered. We would definitely travel with Mega Wild Safaris again and would ask for Kassim as our guide/driver. Anne is very Professional, Calm and understanding to anything you may encounter along the journey which made us feel like we were always in good hands. Uganda is a beautiful place with beautiful people! Tanzania is better equipped for tourists and our guide in Tanzania was very good, Anwar, but it was definitely more of a professional feel as a opposed to a more personal experience we had in Uganda. Overall, it was an incredible experience and we look forward to returning!
