Amazing safari experience

From the very start of the process the booking was handled with great professionalism, queries being answered promptly and without any hint that I was being a bother. Everything was communicated clearly and the plans were all top class. A small hitch with the driver from our hotel to the pick up point was ironed out easily and our driver/safari guide was really knowledgeable and an excellent drive ... Read morer. We were able to see far more animals than I had even hoped and the Sopa lodges were excellent.

Just came back today from Masai Mara safaris, and couldn't resist the temptation to write the review. Richard, our guide and driver was fantastic. His knowledge about the routes within Masai and his connects with all the tour guides helped us to see the Big 5 on the first day itself, within few hours. We were lucky enough o see 3 rhino out of 47 in the Masai park. Lions were in plenty and so were ... Read more cheetah and leopard. Richard, ensured we were fully comfortable in the tents and also had ample water bottles for the entire journey. His knowledge about the different species of animal is commendable. He really ensured that he went all out to ensure we get the expired eif a lifetime. Thanks Richard and team for this great trip. I am surely coming again with you guys again soon.

Wonderful Kenya first time safari holiday , surpassed expectations !

My daughter and I had a fantastic week on our very first safari experience , a 7 day safari tour arranged through Axis Africa. We went to Masai Mara, lake navaisha , Nakuru and Amboselli. We had the services of Joshua a fab driver / guidewho was so skilful in spotting where to view the exciting wildlife and so full of interesting information as well as a careful driver. We saw such a wide amazi ... Read moreng range of animals including quite a number of lions in M Mara as well as Amboselli. If you are lucky to have a good guide like Joshua, you will have a fab experience. We enjoyed the variety of activities including gorge walk in Hells Gate , boat ride on LakeNavaisha to see hippos etc. The week exceeded my expectations to be able to see so many exciting animals in their natural habitat.
Lennox , manager from Axis was very prompt in responding to all queries through the enquiry, booking and payment process . He was able to customise to my request to join a small group tour , of 6 ( rather than private tour) while opting for midrange accommodation ( instead of budget options) and we enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers who were on shorter itineraries ( a couple of them may have booked through other tour operators, the companies collaborate closely ) . By time of our last 2 days we were down to a private group of 2. the Sopa lodges and Kibo luxury tents were of high standards, esp the lake Navaisha Sopa lodge ( luxurious, very spacious suite ) with zebras, water bucks, giraffe in the grounds, hippos from the lake. !, You can definitely trust Axis, which was much cheaper compared to tours offering much less if booked through a U.K. Tour operator and also best price for our choices compared to other local operators. Although Axis is not listed with KATO ,they have a sister company Jocky tours which is KATO registered. Payment options are flexible too. The tour information on accommodation options is very good , you can directly check up the specific camps / lodges to decide . I was very pleased to have chosen Axis Africa to organise a great safari experience .

Up close with the the big 5.

The drivers are amazingly knowledgeable about the best spots to find animals and we managed to see so many and really close. It is a long a bumpy ride from Nairobi to the camp but well worth it, all the staff were really hospitable and the camp was perfect for what I needed, lovely food. Also would recommend the visit to the Masai Mara village.

Everything about the safari 3day-2nights that we had booked at Serena Mara was excellent. The staff at Axis were friendly and competent. The safari guide was on time to receive us at the Nairobi airport with a jeep in excellent condition. We had zero troubles on the long drive to the Mara and during the stay were helped by the guide at every step. He even stopped at the lake nyvasha on the way bac ... Read morek to Nairobi which wasnt part of the original itinerary. We cant stress enough how good a time we had and would definitely recommend a safari experience at Mara and if my experience is anything to go by Axis Africa guys should be more than capable to organize one for you.

Great Value!

I (a solo traveler) dealt with Lennox and his communication was pretty good. There were some miscommunications though. I took a 2 day Safari and was unaware that I would be with a different group each day. Though it did not impact the trip, it would have been nice to know. After the first game drive, my driver gave me an itinerary for the following day with a different group. I was told not to eat ... Read more breakfast before the drive and that breakfast would be provided after the drive. The camp staff members were not aware of this, and the breakfast food was gone when we returned from the morning drive, so I had to waif until lunch to eat. Not a problem for me, but may be a problem for others.

The lodging (Lenchada Tourist Camp) was pretty good! The staff members were warm, and the bed was comfortable. The camp allowed us to charge our gear for a few hours at night and had power strips, but no adapters, so bring your own.

I took two game drives; one the evening of the first night, and another in the early morning of day two. The first game drive was awesome and we saw a ton of animals. The second drive was the complete opposite. Not the fault of the drivers or company at all though.

The drive itself is long at six hours including stops, but the company does a good job at giving enough breaks. The lunch stop was also a bit lackluster, but I didn't expect much at the price point. Overall, this trip was a great value and I would recommend it to other budget and/or solo travelers.

Safari... not what I expected... maybe...

First of all, I don't blame Axis Africa if my safari was less than ideal. I think for the price, I got a great deal. I saw lions, cheetahs. leopards, lots of elephants. giraffes, zebras. Pic-up, drop-off, camps and game drives were exactly as promised. I guess I really came with little experience and expectations. I was in a (nice) pop-up van with a bunch of foreigners (like me). The guide spent ... Read moremost of the time on a radio with other guides. We could guess when he spoke a lot and we say all the vans heading in one direction it was a lion or something "big". It did kind of feel we were harassing the animals, even caging them in with vans. Only once did our driver seem to participate in this (on the last day, he gunned the van to try to get a rise out of a cheetah, who did not respond-- and several of us let him know we didn't think it cool to do this-- but we did notice other vans harassing animals, shouting at them and trying to provoke them. I did get the feeling that the guides on these "budget" safaris would do "whatever" they thought made the guest happy and earn more tips. We clearly went off-road when it was marked. I also had a bad experience at the camp when a driver from another safari made sexual comments and reached into his pants and (well whatever) while speaking to me. (He asked it I was in a tent alone --I wans't) and then I just left.. I probably should have taken his name or photo-- but I was in shock! Anyway, this was not the fault of my company, but it did mar my experience.

In my further travels in Africa, I did another game drive in Botswana that was actually cheaper and more professional. We didn't drive as close to the animals but that actually felt better,

I did feel Axis Africa gave me what they promised in a budget safari. That said, I am not sure what i got what what I anticipated. I did see a lot of animals. They were mostly wild and free, except that we caged them in with our vehicles (and they did seem OK with this). Our guide, while not particularly knowledgeable ("there ix a big elephant and a little elephant") was pleasant enough. I hope this post alerts other women who may be harasssed to take a photo and report it as I wish I had.

My saviour in Kenya

I just wanna say that my Kenya trip was made memorable because of Lenox and Josh from Axis Safaris. Everything was perfect, we made many changes to the original plan right at the end moment but Lenox handled them well which made me and my partner extremely happy! We even got our currency converted from them and it was hassle free and smooth. All in all, keep up the good work guys!
