We went with the budget option but even so considering the price is nothing to complain about. The safari experience itself was very good.

A great time in an amazing environment

The memory of my three day safari in Masai Mara will stay with me forever. It was an amazing experience to come so close to so many beautiful wild animals. We saw the big five, and so many more animals. Our guide was nice, the group was nice and we stayed at a nice camp close to Masai Mara, sleeping in comfortable beds in tents. The only thing I am a bit hesitant about, is that I think we got too ... Read moreclose to the animals. It was absolutely not only us, but almost every other van from other companies (mostly Bonfire), that drove very close to the animals, and we were about 15-20 vans in the same spot sometimes. I later, when I got back, read that you're not supposed to be more than five vans and you're not supposed to get close than 25 metres from the animals.
I wish more companies would respect that. (as I said before, it semis almost no one doesn't). And of course I was really happy to see so many animals so close, but when for example four cheetahs surrounding a zebra were followed, and in their turn surrounded by 20 vans - it didn't feel as if it were on the animals' conditions.
But overall it was amazing to see so many animals, and our guide really did his best to find lots of them.

Great Safari!

Axis was a great Safari to take. I made the booking last minute and Lennox responded instantly and had no problem helping me get on a trip to Massai Mara.

We had a great guide in Martin and saw all of the big 5 in one day! Would recommend Axis for a trip. Would go with them again!

Amazing experience of the wild

Our family of 3 thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Our 8 day trip covered Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli and Tsavo West. We saw up-close most of the Big 5 (Rhinos are the rarest!!). The hotels (Sopa Lodge in Mara & Amboseli, Lake Nakuru Lodge & Ngulia Safari Lodge in Tsavo) were well maintained and service was friendly. The hot air balloon ride in Mara is a must do. Issac, our driver/ guide was well ... Read more versed with the surroundings and has a keen sense about the various animals and birds.
Be prepared for long drives when travelling between the locations.

Amazing caring people

This trip was last minute and I only started researching few days prior to the arrival date. I had lot of questions and things to figure out which Lennox made it easy and simple for me. He was so prompt and responsive to every queries from the beginning. He'd reply within few hours. For me, this is what stood out! After exchanging few e-mails, I knew I could trust him, this was important as I ... Read morewas travelling and doing the safari alone.
Dennis the guide/driver was knowledgeable, kind and caring person, he did everything to make my trip enjoyable. I got sick the last day of the safari, he took me to the pharmacy few times to buy different medicines. He'd constantly check up on me if I was okay, asked if I took the medicine etc. While we were in Masai Mara, Lennox would call and ask if I had found a place in Nairobi to stay since I hadn't booked a hotel after the safari. To them, you aren't just another person who shows up to do safari. They genuinely care, wants you to have the best time and will do everything to make it happen!

Great safari and trip!

My wife and I went on the 5-day tour safari with Axis. We had a great experience and our guide (John) was quite knowledgeable. He knew a lot about the animals, and he was able to answer almost all of my questions regarding geography, geology, and other subjects when curiosity struck me during our trip.

The tour operator responded promptly to all inquiries we had before deciding to go on the tri ... Read morep. The speed with which they replied showed us the quality of Axis' service and respect of the client. This influenced our choice when we were deciding which tour operator to pick.

I have listed below the amount of time we spent in each park:
- Masai Mara: 1 evening, 1 full-day, 1 morning
- Lake Nakura: 1 morning
- Hell's Gate: 1 morning

Our only complaint is that the tour operator (Axis) did not give us advance notice that many of the optional aspects of the tour were not included in the cost, nor were we told the prices of the optional activities (there was an optional visit to a Masai village/dance at Masai Mara, an optional boat safari at Lake Naivasha, and a trek at Hell's Gate). We brought a limited amount of money so we were often debating whether or not we should do an activity based solely on the fact that we didn't want to run out of money. I would request that future tour information include the optional activities for each park, as well as associated cost, so that clients are better prepared financially and understand exactly what they can expect from the tour.

All in all, we would like to thank Axis (tour operator) and John (our guide) for the great experience. Other than the complaint noted above, we had a great time and we felt that we received a lot of value for our money.

Very well organized
Rating:

Pick-up at the hotel in Nairobi, then transport to Masai Mara with a group of other people. One short Safari in the late afternoon of the first day. The second day will be Safari only and on the third in the morning again a quick Safari of about 2 hours. All in all the tour was well organized and we spotted a lot of animals including lions and cheetahs.
