Good work, Peter Kapino! 👏 We booked our safari with Axis Africa, and Peter was our safari guide. We are from India, and Peter was an excellent guide—very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He explained everything about the animals, wildlife, and the places we visited. His boss was also a very nice person.

However, I would not recommend Axis Africa because of Winnie, who handled ou ... Read morer itinerary. She made several mistakes in the itinerary, which ultimately cost us around ₹1.60 lakh extra, and this should not have happened. After taking the advance payment, she gave us an incorrect itinerary and later asked for additional money or suggested cancelling one of our Maasai Mara drives.

So, Peter was excellent, but my experience with the itinerary management was disappointing. If you book with Axis Africa, I would strongly recommend double-checking the itinerary and all costs before making the payment.

We booked a 3 nights and 4 days package Axis Safaris after watching many excellent reviews on YouTube. From the initial enquiries: Number of people, Safari requirements, Different Lodge options and answering any other questions, Rita from Axis Safaris was absolutely brilliant with very good customer service.
A day before the Safari, we received a message from Axis confirming pick up by the drive ... Read morer and the driver also reached out directly. We arrived at thier offices to drop off our excess luggage to be kept securely and were introduced to our Safari Tour Guide Charles Kyalo who from the start to the end was professional, courteous, patient and explained everything very clearly to everyone.

We saw the Big 5 Inc Leopard and also many Lions with cubs, Elephants, Giraffes at Mara and White Rhinos, Lions, lots of Flamingos at Lake Nakuru. We as a family of 2 adults and 2 children loved every single moment and will cherish this Safari experience. I will highly recommend Axis Safaris and Charles Kyalo as a guide. Until next time Kwaheri na Asante Sana 👍

Safari Experience with Laso
Rating:

We had an absolutely wonderful safari experience, and a huge part of what made the trip so memorable was our guide, Laso. He was incredibly skilled, experienced, attentive, and genuinely determined to make sure we had the best possible experience.

Laso had an amazing ability to position the vehicle so that we could get the best views and photos of the animals. Whenever he heard over the radio t ... Read morehat something had been spotted, he reacted immediately and did everything possible to get us there in time. He expertly navigated rough terrain, crossed rivers, drove through bushes, and maneuvered the vehicle into the perfect position for us to see the wildlife. Thanks to his persistence, experience, and determination, we saw an incredible number of animals, including all of the Big Five.

At the same time, I always felt completely safe with him. He is an excellent and very alert driver who clearly has extensive experience. He was also passionate about sharing his knowledge, explaining the animals, their behavior, and everything we were seeing along the way. He was wonderful with our children and made the experience interesting and enjoyable for the whole family.

Beyond the game drives, Laso was extremely accommodating and flexible. He happily adjusted stops for particular breakfast and lunch places we wanted to visit, made sure we always had enough water, and took great care of us throughout the trip. He was always punctual - usually already waiting for us before we were ready - and consistently explained what we would be doing, where we were going, and what to expect next. Everything was organized and clear, the itinerary was followed smoothly, yet he was always willing to be flexible when we wanted something different.

We feel extremely lucky that Laso was our guide. His professionalism, enthusiasm, patience, driving skills, knowledge, and determination to find wildlife truly made our safari exceptional. Not every guide will go to the same lengths to create this kind of experience, and Laso really stands out.

I would highly recommend specifically asking for Laso when booking with Axis Safari.

Excellent Safari experience with Axis
Rating:

Excellent safari experience with Axis Africa! We spotted the big 5. And had a wonderful time seeing other animals too. Our guide Saddam was excellent, he knew the exact locations to spot animals. He was patient and did not rush us. The planning and prep done by Tabitha was also too good. She was very responsive to all my queries. The stay options were also good. Especially Enkorok camp in Mara.

Amazing!!!! Had an amazing sense and understanding of animals, was ethical, best guide :)

Jumbe was our driver and he was AMAZING! one of the only ethical guides/drivers during the trip. At several points in masai mara, drivers were driving up too close to the animals or disturbing wildlife. I loved that Jumbe maintained distance and professional conduct at all times even if several cars were breaking rules.

He also has an amazing sense and understanding of animals. We spotted so m ... Read moreuch wildlife and he always knew how long to wait for us to see something interesting. For example we saw a family of lions sleeping under a tree and he stopped the car at a distance for several minutes, we even told him to leave cos we got bored and within the next two minutes of our conversation with him, the whole family got up to go eat a wildebeast that was hunted earlier in the day. Insane instinct!!!! We got to see the lions move by very close to us coincidently cos they were crossing the path, and then we got to see the whole family feeding on the hunt. Amazing experience. Same with the wilderbeasts and their crossing at the Mara river. He somehow just knew how the wilderbeasts would behave and move back closer to the area that we were in, and we had to wait for a couple of hours, but he was right and we saw some of them cross the river. He answered allllll our questions (and i had a lot) and it was overall a wonderful experience. Im gonna recommend him and Axis to everybody I know :)

Seven incredible days with Peter Kapino: lions, migration, rhinos, flamingos and Kilimanjaro
Rating:

We recently completed the 7 Days Masai Mara–Lake Nakuru–Lake Naivasha–Amboseli private safari with Axil Africa Safaris, and our guide throughout the journey was Peter Kapino. It was an amazing itinerary with very different landscapes and wildlife every day, and Peter made the whole trip informative, comfortable and fun.

The safari started with the drive from Nairobi toward Masai Mara, inc ... Read moreluding the impressive Great Rift Valley scenery. From the beginning, Peter explained the geography of the area and gave us background about the communities and landscapes we were passing through. This continued throughout the week, so even the long transfers between parks became part of the experience.

Once we arrived in the Masai Mara, the wildlife was incredible. There were animals almost everywhere we looked. We saw large numbers of wildebeest and zebras, many different antelope species, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants and predators.

We were especially lucky with lions. We saw a lot of them throughout our time in the Mara, including one remarkable encounter where two lions were mating. Peter explained their behavior while keeping a respectful distance so we could observe without interfering. It was one of the most unusual wildlife moments we have ever experienced.

We also watched a cheetah eating. Seeing a cheetah in the wild was already exciting, but being able to watch one feeding made the encounter even more special. Peter explained the differences between cheetahs and other large predators, as well as how their hunting strategy and lighter body structure influence their behavior after a kill.

One of the biggest highlights was witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration. The sheer number of animals across the plains was difficult to comprehend. Thousands of wildebeest were moving through the ecosystem, together with zebras and other herbivores. It felt like watching a live nature documentary.

Peter helped us understand that the migration is not simply one single event but a continuous movement through the Serengeti and Masai Mara depending on rainfall, water and fresh grazing. Having this explanation while physically watching the herds made the experience much more meaningful.

One evening in the Mara gave us a completely different kind of memory. A giraffe stood against the setting sun, creating an iconic African silhouette. The sky was glowing while the giraffe slowly moved through the grass. It was simple compared with the predator sightings, but it was probably one of the most beautiful moments of the entire journey.

At Lake Nakuru, we were excited to see rhinos, and we were surprised by just how many birds surrounded the lake. The flamingos were spectacular. There were huge groups of them feeding around the water, adding flashes of pink across the landscape. We also saw pelicans, storks and many other birds. Peter explained how changing water conditions affect the bird populations and why this area is so important for wildlife.

The trip through Naivasha and Hell’s Gate gave us another change of pace and scenery. After several days of intense game drives, it was interesting to experience a landscape where walking and cycling are possible and where animals such as zebras and giraffes can be seen in a more open environment.

Finally, Amboseli provided some of the most iconic views of our entire safari. Watching big herds of elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro behind them was breathtaking. When the mountain was visible and elephants walked into the foreground, it created exactly the classic image of Kenya that we had hoped to see.

The elephants themselves were impressive, especially some of the very large adults. Peter explained their family relationships, how females and young elephants stay together and how they travel through the Amboseli ecosystem searching for food and water.

Peter’s driving deserves special mention as well. Many of the roads are not easy, especially inside the reserves, but he drove confidently and carefully. He knew how to select routes, find wildlife and position the vehicle well for photographs. At the same time, we never felt that he was chasing animals just for photos. He respected the wildlife and allowed us to observe naturally.

His knowledge of animal behavior, habitats, Kenyan geography and local culture was excellent. We asked many questions during the week, sometimes about animals and sometimes about Kenyan life, and he always took the time to explain.

Peter Kapino was also friendly throughout the journey and made seven days together feel easy. His calm personality, sense of humor and enthusiasm contributed enormously to our enjoyment.

We returned to Nairobi with thousands of photographs and memories of lions mating, a cheetah feeding, wildebeest migration, rhinos, huge numbers of flamingos, a giraffe under the sunset and elephants standing beneath Kilimanjaro.

Thank you, Peter Kapino, for an incredible safari. We would highly recommend him and Axil Africa Safaris to anyone wanting to explore Kenya.
