Safaris are arranged to the chimpanzee parks of Mahale and Gombe on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, and the national parks in southern Tanzania: Ruaha, Mikumi, and Selous. For those who want to get away from the main tourist routes there is Mkomazi National Park and Saadani National Park in Tanga. Their are easily accessible from Kilimanjaro and Arusha and are off the tourist route. Mkomazi National Park is having all members of the Big Five and Saadani national Park is the only park that extends from Land to sea, with vehicle and boat game drive opportunities. Board in any lodge along the beach of the Saadani and enjoy seeing elephants coming to swim and shower themselves with their trunks while you are sunbathing.
