Neil Stuckenberg, owner of Southern African Safaris, has an ingrained love for the African bush and a wealth of experience within the game viewing and game lodge industries. His hands-on experience as a safari lodge owner and trained field guide, coupled with his personal relationship with our accommodation partners, makes Neil the ideal travel advisor to plan your safari adventure.
Born and raised in South Africa, Neil enjoyed countless vacations to the Kruger National Park and other game reserves. He moved to the United States in the late '80's, but heeding the call of the wild, Neil and his wife returned to South Africa in 2004. And by October 2005 they were the proud owners of their very own safari lodge in the world renowned Thornybush Private Game Reserve, right next door to the Kruger National Park.
In 2005 Neil qualified as a Field and Trails Guide through the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA), and spent over 100 days conducting research and gaining valuable experience within the Kruger National Park. As the owner of a safari lodge, Neil guided over 750 game drives, more than 250 bush walks, and over 120 full-day trips into the Kruger National Park. He has successfully tracked and located - both on foot and per vehicle - every member of Africa's Big 5, as well as other fascinating and beautiful birds and animals. As a business owner, Neil transformed his lodge into a thriving establishment, winning multiple TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Awards.
Also during that time Neil facilitated many bookings at the lodge and provided valuable information to his clients about their vacation in South Africa. He provided travel planning services such as transfers, guided day tours and accommodation bookings at many of South Africa's top destinations.
In 2012 Neil left his beloved African bushveld and moved back to the United States with his new family.
