Outdoor Africa was formed in 2009, by Hayden Elliott and Peter Kummerfeldt, with the sole purpose of offering you safaris of the same level of quality and authenticity that we ourselves have experienced growing up in Africa. During 2015, Toby Brown joined Outdoor Africa as our representative in the United States. Based in the mountains of Western North Carolina (USA), Toby Brown is an entrepreneur, adventurist, and travel fanatic whose love of varying cultures and countries began at a young age. by is also a qualified and accredited “SA Specialist”, having completed the SA Specialist course hosted by South African Tourism.
The areas in Southern Africa in which we operate our photographic and wildlife safaris have been carefully chosen to offer you the very best combination of wildlife viewing and affordability.
Lesser Know Wildlife Areas
Typically we use all of the major game reserves in southern Africa, but we also like to include some of the lesser known "gems" which we have discovered during our expeditions into Africa into our itineraries.
Very often these lesser known areas are the highlight of our trips, due to them being away from the main tourism areas and generally a lot quieter compared to the larger parks and reserves.
Although there has been a noticeable shift towards "sustainable or eco" tourism in the tourism industry the past couple of years, Outdoor Africa has been practicing these principals since we started the company in 2009.

Our safaris have always focused on the sustainable socio economic development in southern Africa, and every single one of our trips offers a unique insight and contributes towards local communities living in the rural areas in which we operate. We do not need to start addressing responsible tourism in our safaris, as we have been practicing it since we started the company; it has always been an innate element of Outdoor Africa's philosophy as it is a way of life for us and for our staff.
