Location
Located on the edge of a mighty African cliff, Pumziko Safari & Wellness Lodge is in a setting of exquisite beauty and tranquility. With it's remarkable location, Pumziko has the privilege of being the only lodge built in the raw, untamed bush at the heart of the Iraqw tribal homeland, an honor for which we are deeply grateful to the Iraqw. Here we're able to offer guided walking safaris just steps from our front door, and convenient jeep safaris to the best safari destinations in Northern Tanzania. Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and the Serengeti are all short, easy drives from Pumziko. And our close relationships with our tribal neighbors allow us to offer our guests unique cultural tours, including visits to our friends in the Iraqw villages, Maasai Boma and Hadza Bushmen villages.
Accommodations
Five luxurious and spacious private guest houses dot the property and surround the main lodge building. Each private guest house comes with an oversized deck and incredible views that can be enjoyed from the hammock on your private oversized deck or from the cozy seating area next to your crackling fireplace and even, from atop your soft, inviting, bed.
These are transporting views that wrap you in a tapestry of African beauty and grandeur – Shimmering Lake Manyara, pink-hued from a million flamingos; Rolling valleys and soaring walls of the Great Rift, literally in your yard; And the vibrant majesty of Highland forests flowing from the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, a place even you may begin to call the Garden of Eden.
Lodge
The main lodge building offers personal guest services, a sunken fireplace with sitting area, as well as an indoor/outdoor bar, a gift shop, upstairs observation deck with a telescope for out of this world views day or night, cozy sitting area, an open kitchen and three dining room options. The open-air dining room inside is next to our oversized fireplace for the cooler nights, dine upstairs on our open air observation deck or outside on our large patio and is an exquisite place to enjoy views or a sundowner cocktail and watch the African sun set over the soaring cliffs of the Rift Valley. In the evenings, guests enjoy a 5 course dinner before being escorted to our large outdoor fire pit, where local tribesmen entertain with traditional African songs and dances (offered seasonal).

Our Story
Ms. Sherie Fenn, has been the visionary and the driving force behind Pumziko. Over the past decade, through her experience in worldwide tourism, tour planning and operations, Sherie traveled through Africa and fell deeply in love with it. After she started her own tour company, Sherie arranged and led tours in Africa, including the one, in February 2011 to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and safari in Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, which provided the Pumziko genesis and team.
Pumziko Safari Lodge & Spa was conceived while relaxing after a day on safari and born of a shared desire to always have the best of Africa at our doorstep. We dreamed of an African lodge where we could savor and share her magic. Our lodge celebrates the African people, its beauty, and unfathomable richness of nature. Northern Tanzania is where our heart led us, and we scoured the countryside for the perfect spot.
