Frank Tours Uganda
Company Profile
History
“Hi there, I'm Frank, founder and owner of Frank Tours Uganda. When I finished Makerere University, some of my friends became lawyers and others went on to build up successful careers of their own. They bought suits, had offices and began “real life”. I, however, took a very different path. At 22, armed with a degree in Art, I accepted a job driving tourists around Uganda. No power suits or office for me, just plain clothes and a hat on my head.
Technically, I was a “tour driver.” My job was to chauffeur tourists around, for groups - large and small - from various countries, visiting different National Parks and other sites of interest in my homeland.
More than 10 years on, I've lost count of the total number of tours I have led until now.
Let me tell you - leading large groups of tourists has always been an interesting experience. Expectations were always different to the smaller groups.
Honestly though, I have loved and enjoyed every minute of it. For me, it has been an amazing, maturing experience and to this day, I still take joy from welcoming and guiding you, here at ”.
Who is Frank?
Frank started small as a tour guide, with a love of tourism in his heart and a great compassion for local communities, whereby he makes sure to support such communities whenever he gets the chance. He has taken a strong supporting interest in local community projects such as GirlBe in Kansanga, Tinka’s Home Stay in Biogodi , Bunyonyi Vocational Project in Kable, women projects in Buhoma and Kibale…..
Vision
The vision of Frank Tours Uganda is to develop a locally-owned tour company with international partnerships and networks that will operate in Uganda. FTU seeks to provide a first-rate flexible service to its customers and promote the image of Uganda as an exclusive tourism destination in Africa. Our long-term plans include the development.
Mission
To provide high-quality safaris, tours, holidays and guiding services across Uganda and the entire East African region. FTU designs tailor-made tour packages to suit our guests' needs. This does not, however, limit our guests' options as they are still able to design their own packages with the help of our highly-skilled safari consultants.
Company Values
Care, professionalism, integrity and dedication are some of the core values that underpin the business approach of Frank Tours Uganda. The company has established itself as a strong and reliable business that guarantees quality, consistency and competitive prices. Other core values of the company are excellent customer service, innovation, flexibility, accessibility and eco-tourism.
Staff
The Frank Tours Uganda team is made up of 4 capable, knowledgable office staff and highly-qualified drivers/ guides and Tour Leaders who all possess the requisite academic qualification and years of valuable experience. Between us we speak a range of European and African languages including English, Dutch, Swahili, Luganda and many other local dialects found all across East Africa, empowering us to efficiently manage all of our guests’ tour requirements, right from conception to operation to closing, for optimal satisfaction.
Our Guides, Drivers and Tour Leaders
Aware of the critical role a guide plays in our guests’ holiday experience, we hire only the best. Of our expert full-time guides, many used to be National Parks rangers within the Uganda Wildlife Authority and therefore have extensive local knowledge of our autochthonous Birds, Wildlife, Flora and Fauna, History, Culture, and Geography. Some avid ornithologists complete our crew. They also attend regular courses with the accrediting Uganda Safari Guides Associations, are members of the Bird Guides Clubs, Nature Uganda and Conservation Societies. In addition, we can provide German or Spanish-speaking Tour Leaders/ Guides, as well as accompanying translators in any of the other major international languages upon request.
VEHICLES
The company owns two Toyota Land Cruisers and two Minibuses. All vehicles are 4WD, well-maintained and provide a pop-up roof for game viewing. The challenging conditions of Ugandan roads means that safari vehicles are serviced by FTU company mechanics after every trip. For our clients' convenience, we try to limit the number of people in one vehicle to 5-6 persons, ensuring that everybody has a window seat and luggage can be stored comfortably.
SERVICES Cultural tours in Uganda
Uganda features four major traditional and well-established kingdoms: Buganda, Toro, Bunyoro and Busoga. Additionally, Uganda has many other different tribes-peoples practicing age old cultures, customs and traditions including the pygmy Batwa in Bwindi, the Banyakole - famed for their magnificent long-horned cattle, as well as the nomadic Karamojong living in the remote, semi- arid North East, bordering Kenya and South Sudan. Historical relics include the Kasubi tombs (burial grounds of ancient Baganda kings) and the Uganda Martyrs Shrine (a much more modern religious shrine), all amongst what is reputedly the world’s most hospitable people, the Ugandans - making Uganda one of the most ideal cultural tourism destinations in the world. Our consultants stand ready to work with our guests to create tours which will give you the most fascinating and unforgettable cultural experience.
Adventure tours
Absolutely nothing beats coming face-to-face with a silverback Mountain Gorilla - twice the size of a grown man (250Kgs) - in its natural habitat. Although an encounter with our cousins the chimpanzees in Kibale forest National Park must rank as the truest definition of ‘a walk on the wild side’- it could stop your heart! To partake in the wildest white water rafting amongst the rapids of the magnificent river Nile, the world’s longest, is the true epitome of an adrenaline-pumping river adventure and we think that bungee-jumping thrills at the Bujagali Lake must be what real ‘dare-devilism’ is all about.
You can climb Claudius Ptolemy’s fabled ‘Mountains of the Moons’, the Rwenzoris, and marvel at their ice-capped peaks astride the equator on a 7-days adventure with experienced guides; or hike the fringes of famous Mount Elgon on the Uganda/ Kenya border. If you take a launch boat on the Nile, through Murchison Falls National Park, you will come up close to the base of the glorious Murchison Falls itself - where the mighty river forces its entire self through a narrow 7m cleft to tumble 43m down, in a thunderous show of mighty power; without a doubt some of the most breathtaking sceneries imaginable. You could also take a hike up to the top of the falls and marvel at the view from above. There are just so many things you could do - Uganda must truly be the adventure capital of the world. Please contact us and find out for yourself!
Recreation holidays at Uganda's Lake Victoria, the world’s second-largest fresh water lake, provide numerous opportunities for beach tourism around its shores, in Entebbe as well as at various islands including Ssese Islands and Bulago Island, where one can enjoy walks on the beach, boat rides, lazy bird walks, some water sports, visits to the local fishing villages etc.
COMPANY PROFILE
Relax on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi, enjoy the peace, beauty and tranquility at the source of the Nile in Jinja, and visit the Mahatma Gandhi shrine, the universal apostle of peace and non-violence; his ashes were immersed in the river Nile in 1948, as he requested. Enjoy launch cruises on the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park or step out to mix and mingle with local Ugandans on a night out in Kampala - feel the pulse of this buzzing capital city; Ugandans just love to have massive amounts of fun – and you're more than welcome to join in!
SPECIAL INTEREST JOURNEYS IN UGANDA
Besides our classic safaris, FTU offers theme-based packages and special interest tours, such as honeymoons, incentive group tours, tribal and homestead tours, philanthropic tours, school/ colleges groups and many more.
SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
Frank Tours Uganda is extremely conscious of the need to protect our wonderful natural environment and valuable cultural heritage. We therefore work with a number of projects, to maximize the benefits tourism can bring to local communities. One of these projects involves our cooperation with a Tinka family in Bigodi Village, where guests can learn about the culture of the different tribes and interact with the local people. Your visit will support community-based initiatives, varying from the construction of schools to the supply of clean drinking water and the making of traditional handcrafts.
Well if you are looking for adventure and having a remarkable holiday to remember then Frank Tours Uganda is the company for you.
