Sekanka is a Tswana-vocalised version of the word "skunk" which is used commonly by most tourists especially English and Americans to informally call the black&white honey-badger_ Mellivora Capensis.
Established in 2014, after more than 20 years in the tourism industry, we decided on the name to try to capture our zeal, tenacity and determination (just like the Honeybadger) to make a mark in Botswana's tourism industry. To revive the true spirit of African hospitality, where a warm welcome embrace is of the norm, and usually not preceded by a hefty price.
At Sekanka Safaris we are aboriginal to the Okavango lands and growing up we knew no other source of employment other than the widespread bush camps, lodges, mobile safaris and tourism industry at large. It is therefore without doubt that after 23 years working for the myriad of tourism companies in Chobe and Ngamiland our guides and staff have acquired immense experience, expertise and garnered necessary adaptive skills when traversing the lands on safari excursions, not to mention the natural knowledge of the land and insider tips.
We always strive to redefine the word Safari itself, go an extra mile adding even more value to the bush experience at affordable prices in all the tourist attractions in Botswana.
