Mandrill African Safaris is a locally owned safari company that was founded by Ahimbisibwe Colleb who is a former wildlife killer from the Bebwa group . To know more About Mandrill African Safaris , In the early 80s to late 90s, the Bebwa group was a great hunting family in Kiruhura District of western uganda . The lake mburo National Park , is, an habitant to many wildlife i.e bush back, Ugandan Kob, Giant rat, impalas, topis, leopards, etc. “As a teenager, school holiday meant hunting moments”. In early 2004,colleb joined Kakagate primary school in Byembogo “basically in Kiruhura District
where he was taught by Volunteers, from Germany USA , etc. During school holidays, these volunteers would go on the safari to see wildlife game in its natural habitat and Colleb would unite with The Bebwa group and go hunting in search for animal products like Meat, Hides/fur, Borns, Horns, and in rear cases was to chase away leopards that had established territories next to the National park where cows, goats, sheep, chicken were prey.The school volunteers inspired colleb by sharing Wildlife safari memories through photos and videos and this was mind-blowing to the younger hunter. “In my life, I never knew that animals had a habitat where they can leave freely from hunters and I was so fascinated to visit these places”.
In 2006, I visited Bwindi impenetrable national park with Jonan who was a full time Wildlife Photographer and videographer. It was so thrilling and interesting amazing as for the first time I came so close to a Gorilla about 10 meters and something so unusual, the gorilla never flee for its life rather kept sharp eye contact with us and Jonas Photos and videos made me have a paradigm shift about Wildlife Game. From the primate safari to bwindi impenetrable National park , i was so angry with jonan as our village home was a center for hunters in kakagate village which had claimed many wildlife lives. Ironically, I forgot about others animals and my focus was on Gorilla alone”
On the 20th Febuary .2019 almost 2 year before colleb graduated from University Mandrill African safaris was registered as a preferred safari company that organizes affordable African safari in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Congo to all people of diverse cultures and backgrounds to protect and conserve wildlife for generations as we go discovering the beauty of nature Mandrill African Safaris
