Biwakwango is a South African based Tour Operator with almsot 20 years of experience in creating and running exciting and unique tours. We strongly focus on low impact tourism such as walking, hiking and small groups. Biwakwango was founded by Thierry, born in France and permanently living in South Africa for 22 years. His passion for Africa, wildlife, adventure travel, nature conservation and the well being of local people are his fundamental approaches for a sustainable tourism.

Sustainable tourism:
We need to always bear in mind that the nature of tourism activities can have negative impacts on local populations as much as on the environment.Therefore we strive to mitigate these impacts by:
- Keeping our group sizes as small as possible (maximum of 10 people).
- Collaborating with accommodation providers who value good practices (solid waste management, sewage management, water consumption, etc...) as well as involving the local communities in their operations.
- Informing our customers about environmental awarness and applying good practice.
- Encouraging to discover places by means of low impact acivities and transportations (walking safari, canoeing, biking, hiking, horse riding, etc...).
Local communities :
Our trips are designed so that local communities benefit directly from our tourism activities, which lead to positives outcome for local people, our company and the tourists themselves. We advise our clients to travel with a sensitive eye on the use of natural resources, and a respect for the cultures and traditions of local populations. This can only be achieved by carefully selecting the people we are working with but also by travelling in small groups.
