The name “Nyumbu” itself carries cultural significance, as it means “wildebeest” in Swahili, one of East Africa’s official languages and a reflection of the country’s vibrant culture. The choice of this name showcases the company’s commitment to preserve wildlife, local languages and traditions. When you’re sitting here in the famous savannas of East Africa and the Rift Valley, you realize that you’re part of something bigger, something older. You’re really sitting in the cradle of humankind.
Early man walked through these savannas, across these lakes, next to Lake Masik, where Nyumbu beyond Journeys founder builds his passion and love for East Africa as Safari destination that touches mankind begins on Earth. Over a million years of history, of human history exists here. So, when visitors travel with Nyumbu Beyond Journeys, they come to Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi and D.R Congo. They’re not just on safari; they’re coming home, because this is where we started as human beings.
We started our journey here in this exact part of Africa and we set off from here to discover the rest of the world, so when our travelers book our bespoke journeys across East Africa there is this archaic feeling of finding the life of mankind.
From the great wildebeest migration, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world to the Ngorongoro Conservation Crater, the 8th wonder of the world to mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and golden monkey trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, our journeys are crafted with local expertise, care and knowledge of adventure to fit your safari dreams.

We give a helping hand to girls in East Africa to get them off to the best start in life. Equal opportunity and giving girls the best education possible is a cause close to our hearts. Unfortunately, for many rural children around the world a high-school education is not something that is easily attainable, and pressures exist for them to go straight from childhood to motherhood. Working with our own family connections in Kenya, we set up the Nyumbu Beyond Journeys Village Share Fund to educate rural children in Uganda and Kenya, ensuring they are able to get a high-school education and better prospects for their future.
