Great experience, well organized, excelellent value for money.
5/5

I really enjoyed the riding safari experience and it exceeded my expectation. The tour was well set up and led by great guides - reliable/experienced and well trained horses, great service, excellent food ! The tour left enough space and time to build up a good relationship to my horse, as I was able to go through the daily routine of grooming, feeding and tacking up etc.. Lots of fast canters through a stunning scenery made this experience unforgetable. Thanks for a highlight of my life!

A true adventure, fantastic horses, a hardworking team, the wild Namib Desert, the gang and you!
5/5

The Namib Desert ride exceeded my expectation big time.
The performance of the horses was unbeatable. It was a tough ride with lots of fast paced work in all gaits, long distances and tough terrain. Certainly it is not a novice ride or as they say: not for the faint-hearted. The leader of the pack as well as all crew members accompanying us had all an outstanding riding style and superb horsemanship. They all had always a winning smile on their face, a good sense of humour and interesting stories to tell.
The ´ground crew´ was also very professional, well organized and extremely helpful whenever we needed them.
I could not imagine what a cook could do with simple kitchen appliances on a simple campfire until I came here. The culinary surprises were amazing.
Our camp life had really an easy rhythm – “wake up to the aroma of fresh coffee, hearty breakfast, saddle up, ride, lunch, ride, shower, sundowners, eat and sleep. And what a surprise: do it all again tomorrow.”
Comparing this safari with the other 12 rides I have done, I would consider this the best.

A fantastic ride across the desert

Everything was extremely good. The ride was amazing, the food great, the horses good and the experience of sleeping under the stars was different. The organisers could not have been more helpful and fun.

Well worthwhile travelling nearly 13,000 kilometres to go on this safari.

I hoped and expected this ride would be challenging and it certainly lived up to that. The environment takes a certain type of horse, not least one that has excellent feet as some of the going was really tough for them. I was lucky enough to be given a very experienced chestnut mare. Was so impressed at how she knew the best bit of ground. Once I had worked out that she knew far more than me I had the most amazing ride. My fellow guests were all really interesting people and I hope to keep in touch. Maybe meet on another Namibia ride. The team made up of Andrew, Telane, Rayne, Phoebe, Nelson and Colin made the trip amazing. Great food (thanks Rayne and Phoebe), well watered (Andrew is an excellent host as well as guide), incredibly well cared horses and Telane has an excellent eye for both the horse and rider's welfare. Colin and Nelson - such hard working guys. The horse lines were always ready and the horses food prepared. They also shod the horses when needed as well as preparing our showers every night. Too easy to go on and on! Overall - long hard day's riding followed by a night spent under the stars - what more could I ask for. I look forward to returning some day.

Happy Hooves on Tour

My husband and I recently took part in the ten day 'Crossing the Namib Desert Trail'. Having never been a camper, I entered this trip with some trepidation, not about the horses, the long hours in the saddle but about camping generally! Worry wasted- this is one slick operation from the caring, feeding and watering of horses, guests and staff, to the absolute comfort of 'campers' sleeping out under the stars. The horses were fantastic, well matched to guests and transportation of food, kit and water absolutely second to none. the six strong team on tour were wonderful. I would totally recommend this trip and the Company. Loved every minute of it!

Superb!

I have been on many different riding holidays including 900+ km across Morocco and have enjoyed them all (well mostly). This trip was a big decision for me as way over my usual budget but I had been saving up for it for a couple of years as it came highly recommended by friends of mine who had been twice before.
Helen (office) went well beyond the call of duty helping me get ready for the trip answering all manner of questions (Thank you!!), nothing was too much trouble. As for the trip itself our guide Andrew was first class, he was the guide you hoped he might be! you are in safe and knowledgeable hands. He was also great fun and the consummate professional from rising in the morning till saying goodnight. The girls treated us to exceptional food, quite a miracle when you consider where they were working and cooking (camp fire and dutch oven)
Camp life provides you with everything you need but nothing you don't. It feels like such a relief to leave behind all the non essentials. Behind the scenes the team worked tirelessly to give us the best holiday they possibly could. Camp was always set up to look so inviting and homely when riding in after a long day. There were always smiles, snacks and alcohol to greet you!
It was a joy to meet fellow travellers from around the world, such a mix but what fun! the group size of 12 seems to work perfectly.
Of course the reason why you go is for the awesome ever changing landscape, the fascinating wildlife and exhilerating riding.
The horses were well beyond my expectation. They had such big hearts and loads of stamina. I come from a hunting background and also enjoy riding thorobreds at speed! and was not disappointed. This is a real adventure.
This holiday will put a smile on your face and love and peace in your heart, the effects of which will linger long after your flight home. It was also so lovely to make some new friends and will be seeing two of them soon :-)
Yes it is expensive but worth every penny...just do it!

A true connect to nature experience: impressive landscape, fabulous horses, and super team!
5/5

Communications were easy, Helen is very responsive. The trip certainly lived up to our expectations and more. We saw far more animals, zebra, oryx, springbock, vultures, aardwolf, then we had expected. Horses were looked after very well, the guide troughout the day individually checked how everybody was doing, which was great.

We'll never forget this adventure!

Experience of a lifetime
5/5

The trip surpassed expectations.
Amazing scenery, horses and staff.
Andrews knowledge and help couldn't have been better. Camp life was so well managed by the girls. But , the stars, are the horses!
I would recommend to any of my horsey friends without hesitation.

Wonderful views, great horses, beautiful stars. A great experience. Very well organised.

Crossing the equator the first time. The rider from Solitair to Swakopmund was a great experience. Wonderful horses, a group of nice people all well into riding. Perfect organisation, good crew and Andrew who looked after us all, checked and guided us though the dessert. Too bad it only lasted 8 days.

A remote and glorious challenge for the mind, body and soul.
5/5

Despite the ride being in such a remote location, I felt fantastically well cared for by the brilliant team. Andrew Gillies was the perfect guide; there was no doubt that we were in good hands. The ride itself- Woldwedans-Wild Horses - was challenging in its wildness and (for me) climate, but I was perfectly supported and ultimately rode my dream horse across lemon plains and sculpted red dunes. I adored falling asleep while jackals howled under starlit skies and watching the sunrise, sitting with a hot coffee by the fire. I long to return.
