Another excellent safari with Doug Macdonald
Doug led 3 of us on an enjoyable safari to the remote locations of the Vumba Mountains and Gonarezhou in Zimbabwe. We've all been guided by Doug before, as a threesome, and separately, so this was a fun reunion in some exciting locations. Doug worked very hard from early morning to night to ensure us the best trip possible. We tracked and found lions on foot and had other great wildlife sightings of animals like wild dogs and elephants from the vehicle. We spent time walking in scenic areas. Part of our trip was self-catering meaning Doug prepared our meals in addition to all of his guiding activities. All communications and arrangements with the company were prompt and without a hitch. Doug Macdonald's Safaris to Africa is a reliable option for safaris in remote locations that require expertise and skill.

We have travelled with Doug MacDonald's Safaris to Africa, since 2017, and we cannot recommend it more. We have been to national parks and reserves in Zimbabwe (2017 - Victoria Falls and Mana Pools NP), Tanzania (2018 - Ngorongoro GR, Lake Natron and Serengueti NP), Kenya (2020 - Samburu NP, Laikipia and Masai Mara GR), Botswana (2021 - twice - Nxai Pan, Central Kalahari NR, Moremi GR and Chobe NP/Savuti) and we have everything ready for our third trip to Ethiopia, hopefully in the beginning of 2022 (Bale Mountains NP).
Doug is able to plan your safari to fit your needs, and gets you to great places, great accomodation and, most importantly for us, great safari guides. Our experiences have been unforgettable and absolutely unique. The communication is always very easy, and we can trust the service he provides - reliability is also key for us.
We haven't had the pleasure to be guided by Doug himself, though, but we're pretty sure that we'll have that opportunity in the future - already planning to go to Tchad, Zambia and Zimbabwe once again (Gonarezhou NP this time).

4 great safari experiences with Doug Macdonald Safaris
4th safari, July 2019 - Doug's company merely served as a booking agent for Tswalu in South Africa. His price was hundreds of dollars less than going direct. Wonderful trip.
3rd safari, Oct 2017 - Doug led 4 of us (all friends) in Kafue, Zambia for 12 nights. Fantastic! Excellent sightings on land and water.
2nd safari, Oct 2016 - Doug led 3 of us friends who were joined on and off by another 1 or 2 people for groups no bigger than 4 in Chitake, Chikwenya, and the floodplains of Mana Pools in Zimbabwe on a trip that spanned from about 12-20 days, for the various participants. He made some tricky connections work as members joined in and then spun off to do their own thing. Doug had us in the right place at the right time for the wonders of Mana Pools. Doug also arranged a second fabulous canoe camping safari along the Zambezi with Natureways guides.
1st safari, Sept 2015 - Doug led 3 of us friends in Chitake and Mana Pools in Zimbabwe on a marvelous safari, most of it walking. He also arranged a great deal for me using Natureways guides to do a canoe camping safari along the Zambezi. And he made all the arrangements for me to visit Save Valley in Zimbabwe for outstanding wild dog viewing prior to the canoe.
Whether Doug was leading the group or making the arrangements, everything went splendidly.
