Trip of a lifetime. Served all our needs beyond expectations and tour guide was best ever!
Blue Crane was a pleasure to work with arranging a tour that fit our needs, they were very accommodating. We were a family of 5 on a tight schedule over the Christmas holiday and luckily starting booking in April. We did the six night tour (2 nights in the desert, 2 Swakopmund and 2 in Etosha.) The desert lodge, was wonderful, an oasis in the desert with lovely warm and welcoming staff and great food.(we had 2 vegetarians and a vegan and they were plenty of options) We upgraded to the Strand hotel in Swakopmund, which was a real treat and worth the splurge. Traudy (Blue Crane)was wonderful and even made our dinner reservations in Swakopmund at Jetty 1904 and The Tug, both were amazing. The Etosha park lodges, were clean and nicer than I expected. I must say the best part of the trip was our tour guide, Sammy. Sammy is an amazing person, who exudes kindness, it felt like he was part of our family. He picked us up at the airport with a huge smile and was with us to the end, never missing a thing. He was so knowledgeable about everything; the history, the animals, the birds, the fauna and flora, the mountains and the stars (we received a great astronomy lesson in the desert). He knew all the great spots to go to and when to go to avoid crowds and the heat. He really made this a trip of a lifetime for our family. My only regret was that we did not have more time to spend. I would have enjoyed an extra day in each spot. I guess we will have to visit again. We saw loads of animals and birds. The landscapes were also breath taking. Blue Crane didn't miss a beat. Highly recommend this company and Sammy!

Amazing 9 days safari in Namibia
Last May I started organizing a private 9-day tour in Namibia for my family of four, contacting some tour operators and Blue Crane was the first to respond to my request. From that moment on, Stianlee assisted me in a very professional and efficient way. I requested some changes to their standard tour, in particular with regards to overnight stays and places to visit, always receiving quick and clear answers.
The tour took place in August, touching the most famous spots (Namib desert, Swakopmund, Damaraland, south and central Etosha and AfriCat foundation).
Sedney, our guide, was extremely friendly and skilled, managing the whole daily schedule very satisfactorily. During the game drives in the parks, he showed excellent experience in spotting wild animals, which in fact we have seen in great quantities, in particular, cheetahs and rhinos from a very short distance.
I think that the quality of the guide has a decisive importance for the success of a safari and, in this respect, we have been completely satisfied with ours.
My judgment on Blue Crane is therefore totally positive and I can surely recommend it.

Excellent, everything so well planed. Kalahari desert so interesting. We appriciate game viewing in private game reserve, because you can drive out in the bush and therefore more close to the animalas.

1 week wonderful trip with blue crane
we did a 1 week safari with blue cran in the north of namibia. our tour took us over the erongo mountains, the etosha national park and from waterberg to düsternbrook. We stayed in 4 different lodges. it was a wonderful safari. we saw the big 5 up close and so many other wild animals, incredibly beautiful. our guide Sammy is a very personable person and he simply had a feel for where the animals were. besides the names of the animals, sammy also told us in detail about their habits. Our jeep was technically in perfect condition and so we really enjoyed the more than 1000 km driven distance. Blue crane's boss, Derek, is also very personable. Finally, he drove us to the airport. So, I can only highly recommend blue crane. top guide, top equipment. everything was fine. always happy with blue crane.

To go on safari with Bluecrane is a wonderful experience!
I truly enjoyed every minute of this safari with Bluecrane. They answered every query I had before the tour and even made an appointment for us to have our Covid test. The vehicle was extra comfortable because our group was smaller than usual. The tour itinerary ensured many exciting visits and beautiful scenery along the 2 800 km that we travelled and I fell in love with the wide open spaces and the people of Namibia. The highlight to me was our encounters with wild life at Okojima, Etosha and in Damaraland. But all credit must go to the two staff members who welcomed us and made sure that our every need was met every day. They made us feel at home and it felt as if we were touring with old friends. Thank you Me-Gusto and Evefrans for the grand meals end comfy beds and all the things you taught us about the people and the animals and the geology of your beautiful country.
Tip: It can be quite hot in the desert during March.

We have nothing but praises for Blue Crane safaris! From the first contacts we had with Derek, everything was planned carefuly and with a lot of attention for our demands. The program (from south to north) was perfect and there wasn't a single day that wasn't good. John our guide was very helpful and careful. The accomodations and meals were excellent and we say that as experienced travellers! 30-Day safari...we couldn't have asked - wow, what a fabulous tour we had!
My husband and I are retired living in the U.S.A but we try to travel the world and decided to visit Namibia. I researched several tour sites and Blue Crane Safaris showed up more than several times. I contacted them and wow, what a schedule we worked out together. Our tour started with a standard 15 day trip and expanded to 30 days by the time we added all the sites my husband and I wanted to visit. Derek at Blue Crane Safaris was professional, prompt, informative, and was totally interactive to all our requests - and there were many. We planned a trip that covered the depth and breath of Namibia. During the process, Covid hit - travel was at a stand-still, reservations were hard to come by, but with Derek, we were able to continue the planning process and although we delayed our trip by 1 month, we experienced no issues....Derek was spot-on with all our trip arrangements. Our guide (Me-Gusto) was fabulous. He was prompt, professional, experienced, and so much fun to be with. When you are with a guide for 30 days, you better like each other. Me-Gusto loves geology, animals, history, plants, trees, and the environment. He was able to provide more information that we could have ever imagined. When we had to alter the schedule slightly because of the closure of locations, Me-Gusto ensured we were informed promptly and had back up plans ready. Without a doubt, Blue Crane Safaris, Derek Jacobs, and Me-Gusto made our trip to Namibia absolutely special. In fact, we were so pleased with their services, we decided to stay an extra month and utilize their self-drive rental vehicles and take a personal trip to a few areas we still wanted to see that were not on the schedule. Excellent trip with Blue Crane Safaris from planning, to vehicle and guide, to Safaris itself.
August 2021 Safaris. Custom itinerary for two couples (1 couple in 60s, 1 couple in 30s) for Northern Namibia and Northern Botswana for 18 days.
Derek at Blue Crane made our custom trip run smoothly from planning to execution. Always a prompt reply from Derek to any of our questions during planning. The pandemic caused us to cancel our trip in 2020 and caused changes for 2021. There were changes in Covid testing requirements during our trip. Derek kept us informed and had a solution for any of the changes that came up.
We were more than pleased with the itinerary Derek developed based on our interests in big game, birds, photography, and culture. He paired our group with his guide Sammy. Sammy had an amazing depth and breadth of knowledge that he was able to share with us on animals, geology, and culture. He always parked so the lighting was best for photography and gave us all the time we wanted for wildlife viewing. He explained about the animals and the interaction with their environment and other species so that we could begin observe and notice these things on our own.
Blue Crane had custom vehicles that were ideal for the trip. Air conditioned, large viewing windows, comfortable seats, and a pop-up top for viewing and photography. Accommodations, food, and locations selected were all good.
We were impressed with the amount of animals we saw and the number of different species. The Safari took us through different habitats, which increased the number of species we saw.
Blue Crane was great company to work with. Responsive to our questions, able to resolve any problems that came up, and good service from picking us up at the airport to dropping us off at the end. It seemed like they had the resources of a large company yet provided the personal attention of a small organization.
We highly recommend Namibia for wildlife and Blue Crane for a trip of a lifetime.

Since the very first contact, the communication with Derek (the operator's manager) was extremely efficient.
Particularly during the current pandemic, the travel conditions may be quickly impacted and this requires constant interaction between both parties.
We can recommend the whole process (tour configuration, individual interests, on-site guiding and transport, execution of the planned activities, etc) as outstandingly well done.
