Excellent Customer Service
Margaret helped is book our tour and has been extremely helpful with advice beyond the tour so we have been really happy with Uhuru from the start. The tour itself was brilliant. Put guide, Abraham seemed to have a magnet for the animals and we were lucky enough to see all the big hits although the rhinos and leopard were a way away. It was excellent fun and we would all recommended the safari. We went budget and don't feel like we missed out safari-wise. We believe the price difference will primarily be seen in the accommodation. If you don't like camping and rustic facilities, budget may not be for you. However, there was plenty of food and it was decent.

Great safari, poor organisation
The safari itself was great, beautiful nature and nice to see all the animals.
Unfortunately, the organisation and service of Uhuru travel was very bad and no value for money. There was no pick-up from our accommodation, the game drive started more than 2 hours too late, there was no breakfast on the first and third day, and the group size was larger than communicated. Moreover, we were placed on a campsite which we did not book for and we had to pay again to stay at the right campsite.

Posted on Mar 20, 2019We are happy that safari organized by Uhuru Travel & Tours Ltd was "Great" And you fall in love with our nature and wildlife. We are very sorry for not being pick up in time at your hotel. Your hotel was outside Arusha Town. Normally we have free pick up and drop off in any hotel within Arusha Town. We were picking other clients from nearby Hotels but unfortunately you decided to come to Arusha Town-Meeting point by yourselves but my Operations Manager was coming to your hotel. I am not sure if you did not had breakfast on first and third day while the group is normally traveling with private cook! Its not normal. Why you did not inform the office the same time and you had all the contacts? Size of the group is normally 4 for small Jeep and 6 for extended Jeep of which are normally size. Its can not excide that number! Camp Site they are not hotels but just an open space to pitch Tents so it can be changed to suites the group needs. Thanks for coming with us to Safari and am sure you did enjoyed 98% of your safari. We promise next time all the clients will be well informed about pick up and drop off, Camp Sites, Size of the Group etc.

Perfect 36 hour-getaway from Dar es Salaam
The safari was great.
We had 36 hours with a very friendly and competent guide.
We are very happy with our two days in Mikumi, and saw the animals we wanted to see.
We stayed the night at Angalia tented camp which was wonderful - beautiful tents, very friendly staff and good food.
The drive back from Mikumi to Dar es Salaam was very long, and we got back a lot later than planned. This was due to traffic.
But for us, first time visitors in Tanzania, the drive itself was an experience.
The whole experience very well lived up to our expectations.

Well organized tour with friendly staff and great attention to detail.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were plush, the food was excellent, and the staff helpful.

Really Great Safari Experience
Uhuru Travels was great from the very start, even before the Safari started. The Customer support team assisted me to plan my entire trip and with very prompt replies from margaret. They helped me plan trip even outside the Safari etc.
The safari experience was also super. I saw everything that Tanzania has to offer. Cheetah's hunting, Lions killing and devouring the prey, elephant herd, hippos fight etc etc. Even the guide and chef of Uhuru was really great as we used to get really good food everyday.
Lastly, when my cash was running out, Margaret even offered to help me with that, however I managed without it, but asking to help out was really great.
I would definitely come back with Family and friends and will take a ride with them again.
Although, I did feel that a little cost reduction here and there is possible, however, overall its was a 5* experience.

Excellent, I would use this company again.
We had a great time with this company. Our guide, China, was the best part about it. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He made sure that we saw as many animals as possible, and even would call other guides in the area to make sure we got the best experience. The food and our cook were also amazing! He adjusted the menu to our friend who is vegetarian, and made her a few dishes just for her when we had meat for a meal.
My only issue with the experience, was that when we had first signed up for a car, we were told that we would be in a private car for the 4 of us traveling together. When we got to Arusha and were picked up, we were told that we were picking up 2 other people. Luckily the couple turned out to be great and were a great addition to our trip, but having been promised a private car, and then having to share was a little frustrating.
Overall I would travel with this company again. They were helpful in the sign up process, excellent communication the whole time, and the safari was amazing.

Posted on Jun 24, 2019Thanks for traveling with us and we are happy you enjoyed your safari with us. I just want to make one thing clear. The safari you did was basic camping sharing safari and we have right to admit any person coming even a day before departure to safari only we keep the group to be 4 maximum participants for a normal safari Jeep and 6 maximum for extended Safari Jeep. Since we are excepting even single client at all the time then we can increase the number anytime provided we will remain at our maximum numbers of 4 to 6 but not more than that number. Any one booking basic camping sharing safari must know that there is no private safari we can bring anyone on board anytime.

An Excelent trip
I had a great safari trip with Uhuru Travel & Tours.
Mr Abdhalah the owner was very helpful and gave me a great rate for a private safari.
He was kind enough to answer all my questions.
Mr Loai was a very good trip orgnizer as he did some last minute changes in the plan, to enable me making the maximum use of the trip.
Mike the driver was undoubtly a big reason of making this trip a great one.
He was so nice, always smiling, giving us good information about places and animals, he did all his best to make us spot all Big 5 animals.
I can't find the words to thank you Mike.
I recommend Uhuru Travel to everyone as they have the best rates and services.
Thanks alot for my friends in Uhuru

Great value for short budget safari; 4 days, 3 nights
I thought the communication with Margaret was initially a big reason for me wanting to use Uhuru. She was great.
The price was very reasonable for 4 days, 3 nights- something important for backpackers looking for a once in a lifetime experience.
The guide was very knowledgeable, and conducted himself in the most professional manner and was very friendly. I'd highly recommend asking for a safari with Isador.
Overall, this package was a good fit for me. It was in my price range, there was good communication about how to pay, what was included and any questions before hand. The safari itself was great, but for budget, expect to do outdoor camping (which actually I recommend if you'd like the opportunity to possibly see wild animals outside of a car). I felt I got to see the big things in a short amount of time. Tarengire, Serengeti and Ngorogoro are where you'll get to see the big 5 and more.
Uhuru is a trusted, reliable tour operator.

rememberable wildlife experience
- safari itself was great, saw all animals i wanted
- kilimanjaro hike was also good, but with sub contractor companies (not uhuru travel)
- organization of uhuru was not on point, i was left in the dark sometimes until a few hours before the trip.
-communications inbetween the tour operators was lackluster
still had a good time, would plan differently next time, i guess i got experiences equal to money spend, it was budget after all
first africa experience so dont know if this is standard procedure

Posted on Jul 10, 2019We are happy you had good time to enjoy your safari and experience African wildlife! Sorry we did not inform you before but your group to safari changes travel dates and since we had given you confirmation as solo traveler we thought was wise not to cancel your safari but find an alternative means to make sure you do your safari as planed.
