Excellent safari experience and good service. Selous safari and Kinga Lodge.
Uhuru Travel gave us a very competitive price for our 3 days. They kept in contact and we even had a guide with us from Uhuru Travel to our destinasjon. The whole pakage was well organized and we were given very good service. We travelled by fast boat to Dar Es Salam and were then driven in a safari jeep to Selous. Our driver drove well on difficult roads. On the journey we got to see some of Tanzania. Our lodgings were 3 cabins with very comfortable beds and 2 showers. On the first evening we had a boat safari until sundown. Our guide knew about the wildlife we came across; many hippopotamuses, some crocodiles, bee eaters and fish eagles amongst other things. We finished by watching the sun go down on an island in the middle of the river. The second day was safari day. Up early and then to the game reserve. Here most animals need to be searced for. Giraffes and impala are everywhere. We were very Lucky and saw three lions, an elephant, a few shy zebra and a hyena, buffalo, kudo, amongst many others. Our driver knew a lot about the animals and we drove far and wide to find the lions and elephant. A very fun experience. On the last day we had a walking safari with a bushman who showed us many uses for plants. Then breakfast and two small planes back to Zanzibar. A fun experience in itself. Kinga Lodge provided good food, was friendly and well kept.

Serengeti Safari (2 night; 3 days)
Uhuru provided our group of 4 a great experience through Asilia Camps (we stayed at Sayari Camp in the northern Serengeti) and made plane travel between Zanzibar and the Serengeti seamless. Everything was on time and we had a remarkable experience seeing almost all of the animals one can see in the Serengeti.
The one major drawback about our experience was the unexpected fees. Although we had paid in full up front upon booking in May ($1,250 USD/person), Uhuru contacted us two weeks prior to our safari and demanded that we pay $1,200 USD more ($300 USD/person) as "costs had risen and the government had instituted new taxes." We were alarmed at this situation and did extensive research on new government taxes, but found that no new taxes had been levied in approximately a year. We were discouraged by the price increase but paid anyway, believing there would be no other opportunity for such a late booking. After the conclusion of our safari (back in Stone Town), we were required to pay our Uhuru-scheduled taxi shuttle driver an extra $50 USD even though Uhuru had promised that there would be no additional fees. We had a wonderful time overall, but these unexpected fees were frustrating and added a great deal of stress unnecessarily.
Reply from Soul of East Africa Safaris (Uhuru Travel)
Posted on Feb 15, 2018Thanks for your mail and also the complements. The issue is Asilia Camps push up their last minutes rates and we had no options. The Issue of concession fees has been introduced from January 2018. If you compare the price for last minutes and their real price then you still got the best price, i do not see any reason of complaining! The price per night in Sayari Camp you went its $900+ per night means its like $1800 for 2 nights for accommodation only! And you got it for only $1500 for All Inclusive Accommodation and Return flights to Serengeti from Zanzibar. The above complains has been addressed and such things will never happen to any other client. In case of any increments we shall inform our clients accordingly in advance.
Yours Faithfully,
Uhuru Travel & Tours Ltd Team.

It was a great experience, well planned and executed.
Everything worked out very well. The driver Abram was knowledgeable and patient. I would recommend this travel agent.
I want to suggest that uhuru explain to clients about the type of accommodation they can expect. A luxury tented accommodation in my country is very different from the one we had in Serengeti. It was an unforgettable experience though.
Also I think some halal accommodation for Muslim clients would be very welcome.

Problem free safari to Mikumi National Park
Fast replies from Abdallah to the inquiries while booking, flexibility in its offers.
The 4x4 car (from Selousexplorers) was waiting on the agreed spot and time. the car was confortable, reliable and clean
The guide Nestor was very knowledgable, flexible and helpful. We made long game drives, away from the busy park entrance.
A problem-free safari.
PS: Travel time from Dar to Mikumi has dramatically risen to 7 hours due to traffic density and "policing".

We went with Uhuru travel to Tarangire national park, Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara, and our guide was Abraham. We had a fantastic trip, the food was great, our guide was super, very knowledgeable and nice and our accommodation splendid. Especially our last night at Rhino lodge. We would really recommend this company.

Excellent Tour, thanks to our driver Abraham
Wonderful 7 days safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara.
Everything went well, very nice and comfortable hotels and lodges. Escarpment luxury lodge in Manyara is way nicer than other places during the safari.
The driver Abraham was amazing: gentle, calm, funny, skilled driver, an absolutely astonishing ability to spot every single animal, anywhere. He knew so much about all the animals, their behaviour, characteristics, what is safe to do, when it's more dangerous. It was crazy. He made the safari more than enjoyable, and that's I think one of the most important part. He also has a very good English, which helps if you want to discuss/ask questions.
You’re going to spend almost 100% of your time with your driver/guide, you should better be sure to appreciate him. I highly recommend him.
You can just ask Mr. Abdullah (the owner) about him, he is very fast and responsive, by mail, WhatsApp. No communication problem at all and very helpful when needed.
The tour itself was just like a national geographic documentary … but in real life. We had a lot of time, and I think that makes it easier to multiply your chances of seeing all the animals, in all the situations (eating, sleeping, playing, chasing, walking…). An yes, we saw everything you can imagine seeing in Tanzania (except the climbing lions). I guess under 4 days, you might have to reduce the number of parks, rush a bit too much and so on.
Now the positive points are said, it may look like an ad, so let’s go to the negative points:
It seems that no matter what the company you take, you may have to face mechanical problems (I read many sorties before going). Then the difference between a reliable company and less trustworthy one is how this problem will be handled and how much time you’ll waste. We had a 4x4 in an ok shape, not the newest, not the oldest, but fine however, in the first day of the safari, it had some problems starting, we had to push/be pushed few times. I requested the owner to fix it by SMS. The day after we went to change the battery, 15min in a garage, and it was done.
It’s expensive. Yeap, very expensive. It’s not really related to the company I would say, more to Tanzania in general.
We also booked the Mount Meru through them, nothing much to say, it's a pretty standard tour, and there isn't much difference between the tour operators.
Conclusion: I would go back through Uhuru travel, without any hesitation (and make sure Abraham is available :-).
