The most beautiful family trip we ever had...
5/5

After a first trip in 2010 for two adults with Kanuth Adventure Safaris, I wished to show my children (17,15,12) during two weeks the beauty of Tanzania. I knew that I wanted to do this with Kanuth. For us it was something very special, because I saved during two years the money for it. Kanuth offered us a very individual program for our family: Safari with game watching in the Arusha N.P., Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, where we stayed in wonderful lodges or tented bungalows. We made a very impressive visit to a Masai Village, had the chance to see my sponsored child (from a organization) and drove also up in the Usambara mountains where my children could take chameleon in their hands.
The second week we spend in Zanzibar and enjoyed the Indian Ocean, swimming, skite surfing, snorkeling etc. We stayed also in Stone Town and learned a lot during the spice tour, whit all the exotic spices and tasted many sweet fruits.
It is something very special, if you are looking forward to a special holiday with so much joy and that afterwards, nothing, but really nothing was less than in your dreams, but even more.
Still when I watch the photo album we made afterwards, all the wonderful feelings come back again.
It was really the most beautiful holidays we ever had, and we thank Kanuth that he made this possible for us. I really can recommend him!

An amazing experience with great company and great staff! (3 day Selous Safari)
5/5

We booked Kanuth's Safari based on the reviews we saw on safaribookings.com and we were not disappointed. Our Tour Guide Emmanuel and our cook Joseph were fantastic! Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable and provided great insight into the surroundings while we were in the Selous Reserve about everything from vegetation to the wildlife (he also had a great eye for spotting animals far off in the distance). Joseph's food was amazing, (far better than we anticipated) and was very personable! The local staff at the Hippo Camp were also very friendly and great. Our boat Safari guide and our walking safari guide were also fantastic. The accommodation was also better than expected (we had a bungalow style accommodation). Everything far exceeded our expectations and was great value. We will use Kanuth's again if we end up back in Tanzania (which I think we will). Thanks Team Kanuth!

A Safari is great, with Kanuth even better! Awesome experience
5/5

Words are not enough to explain our experiences & impressions from this Safari. We did a 5-day-safari with Kanuth in Mikumi National Park and Selous Game Reserve and stayed in the Tan-Swiss Lodge (Mikumi) and the Hippo Camp Selous. I do not want to spend many words about the impressive nature and wild animals but more words about Kanuth himself who was our Safari guide and who is the owner. He is a great person with a great personality who made his calling to his profession. The entire safari was so well organized, Kanuth gave us impressive insights and you can really feel how passionate he is about his country, the animals & nature and his job. We also met his 2 brothers Immanuel and Joseph who work in Kanuth's company as well. Joseph was our chef in the Hippo Camp and he prepared real tanzanian food for us which was just delicious. By the way, the food was all the time excellent.
We did the game drive with a cool Toyota Landcruiser Jeep - exactly the car you expect for a Safari. Awesome! Kanuth is such a helpful person. When we arrived he picked us up at the airport and drove us to the hotel. 2 days later our Safari started. On the drive to Mikumi National Park Kanuth gave us a lot of insights about Tanzania, the people living there and the different cultures. You can feel very fast that he has a lot of experience in what he is doing. Already on the 1st day we saw young born Zebras and Impallas. plenty of Elephants and so on. The 2nd day was a full day game drive in Mikumi - again very impressive. Afterwards we spent with him 2 days in Selous Game Reserve. Totally different landscape than in Mikumi but again so impressive. Now as we are back home we really feel blown away by all the impressions we had.
would we do another Safari with Kanuth? Definitely yes. We can only recommend him and his company!!!
Asante sana, Kanuth!!

Perfect 1 day trip to Mikumi
5/5

Gaston was at our hotel at Dar at 4am to pick us up and drive us 5 hours to Mikumi. It was a lond trip but really worth it. The animals were amazing, and Gaston was the best driver and guide for us.
I strongly reccomend Kanuth, they are totally reliable and their prices are a good value.

Well, not what we expected
1/5

We closed our booking a few days earlier with kanut. Talked on the phone and he seemed really nice. First of all the driver- lynus was terrible. He was angry and rude most of the time. On the way to the first park he almost fell asleep on the wheel several times. On the way it started raining and the rain got in to the jeep. When we told him he just got mad and said it's not his fault. The cook that came with him was an 18 years old boy who didn’t knew how to cook anything. On the second day our driver got into a fight with another driver that almost got violent. All and all we enjoyed our safari but not thank to kanut safari but because it was beautiful.

Phantastic Africa experience
5/5

This was my first trip to East Africa, as well as my first Safari trip. Knowing that travelling on your own and seeing all the amazing wildlife in Tansania is almost impossible to achieve, we have selected Kanuth as organizer, driver and tour guide.
He managed everything in a phantastic way and gave us furthermore insight into daily life in Africa. It was a groundbreaking experience which can hardly be achieved without such a passionate experience. Many thanks for that!

Pure enjoyment, nice people and good treats
5/5

Since the beggining we were treated really well. The service was perfect and they where taking care to meet all our needs.
Tarimo, our tour guide had lots of pacience and knew a lot of things so he was always willing to help and answer all our questions.
We where taken to nice places to eat and sleep and we had the luck to stop and take part of the "becoming a woman" party in a little village, where Tarimo gave us all the time we needed.
With all that, prices are good and not expensive at all.
Totally recomend it.

Excellent guide and an overall successful trip at a good price
5/5

Kanuth had the best price for a short tour : Dar-Mikumi-Dar with a day's safari. The driver was well informed and good at communicating. We drove in the evening from Dar and took a bit long to reach Mikumi due to traffic. So avoid rush hours if you can.
We were put in Tan Swiss Lodge. Good, clean, room BUT had visitors - spider, lizard and a cockroach. Since we reached aroud midnight we couldnt ask for help but otherwise quite happy with the lodge.
The safari was around 7-8 hours, the driver seemed flexible and patient on the game drive. He gave us good explanation about the nature there and the animal behaviors. We saw 3 out of the big five. Overall I am very pleased with their service and the game drive in particular! Highly recommended!

5 day Selous safari 6-10 December 2014
4/5

I contacted Kanuth Adventures for a 5 day safari in Selous asking if there was anybody else going on safari early December as well (just a week before I wanted to go on safari). Within a few hours Kanuth himself replied that there was and since I especially was interested in seeing wild dogs he suggested to do a 5 day safari to Selous (instead a 3 or 4 day safari).

The other safari client was willing to go 5 days to Selous as well and so our safari started. Kanuth wanted a short briefing the evening before we left from Dar es Salaam and he suggested to go camping at Lake Tagalala Public Campsite to increase our chances seeing wildlife and especially wild dogs. I am personally not a big fan of camping and prefer the comfort of a lodge but Kanuth explained that staying in a lodge at the edge of the park will involve driving up and down the main road of Selous which is relatively poor of wildlife. This would mean that we would miss out being in the centre of the park during early mornings and late afternoons, the time most animals are active and so we went camping two nights and stayed our first and last night at Hippo Tented camp at the edge of the park (15 minute drive from Mtemere gate). The lodges inside the park where most game is are quite expensive and were not really an option budget wise.

The first day day we arrived in Hippo tented camp which is nicely situated outside the park facing the Rufiji river. We went on a boat safari and saw Hippo's and crocodiles from pretty close and also some nice birdlife. The second day we left arount 10:00 for our game drive in Selous and searched for wildlife all day in a very well equipped jeep (we could even charge our camera's in the jeep!). Around 17:30 we arrived at Lake Tagalala and set up our camp, just after we watched the many hippo's and crocodiles in the lake. The third day we wanted to do a very early morning game drive and got up at 05:30 for tea so we could leave at 06:00. Unfortunately the car was not cooperating and it seemed that there was something wrong with the cars fuel pump. After several attemps of fixing the car, Immanuel, our driver/guide, arranged for a back up car from Hippo tented camp which arrived around 10:00 in the morning. The back up car also brought a spare fuel pump and while we finally contiued our safari, the fundi the came with the car was left fixing it. After 5 minutes, I spotted some ears being raised by us driving by, after asking Immanuel if he could check if they we're impalas or not he replied that it might be the hyenas which visited our campsite the other night. When we went to take a closer look it turned out to be a pack of 14 wild dogs (my main reason to visit Selous)! The dogs were completely relaxed although we parked the car just next to them and they continued their mid day activities and we whatched them for a long time. In the mean time our original safari car was fixed and we could swop to that car again (which seemed to be in better condition than our back up car which was an open vehicle). The same day, Immanuel managed to spot several lions for us, one of them was planning to go for some warthogs although the alarm calls of nearby impalas give his position away and the hunt was off.
In the late afternoon we went back to our wild dog spot and they were still there! This time they were a bit more active and we saw them drinking from a mud pool, at one point one of the pack members came out of nowhere and regurgitated some food for the subadults of the pack which resulted in a lot of sqeeuking and running around of the pack which was very entertaining to witness.
The fourth day we went in search of elephants, which turned out to be pretty hard to find, but finally around mid day we managed to find them just getting out of the water when they continued feeding on the palm trees and grasses next to the small lake. We left Selous around 16:00 and just outside the reserve a large group of elephants decided to cross the road in front of us which was a nice end of our game drive safari.
The fifth day we had our walking safari at Hippo tented camp, we saw some blue monkeys and black and white tailed colobus monkeys and got some more information on the local insect life. The walking safari was not very exciting compared to the wildlife you might see during the game drives but is was a nice change, I guess walking safaris at lodges inside the park can be more of an adventure.

The cooking was done by Joseph at Hippo camp and also during our stay at the Tagalala campsite. The food he prepared was of excellent quality and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Both Joseph and Immanuel are brothers of Kanuth and together they made a really good team.
