Nairobi to Livingstone 27 Days
5/5

We were in 6 Land Rover Defenders [ including the Guide vehicle ] two people per vehicle, which IMO is a much better way to travel if the alternative is a bus with 20+ others. We found that if we staggered leaving in the mornings then stopping for photo ops, comfort breaks etc didn't bunch the group up and added to the sense of independence, we'd meet up for lunch/fuel and then carry on to the overnight stop. Before setting off each morning Jan and Bella would have a team talk to go over the days route book which gave directions and distances also any known problems along the way i.e. roadworks which have to be experienced to be believed, it all worked really well because everybody made it every day. The vehicles all had two way radios and a pre programmed mobile phone.
Highlights for me were the Masai Mara, Zanzibar, Livingstonia/Lake Malawi, Croc River camp, walking with the Lions and who could forget the Microlight flight over Vic Falls.
Some of the camps were pretty basic but most had very reasonably priced upgrades i.e. the Chalet upgrade at Lake Chala was fantastic. Every one pitched in on a rotational basis to help Bella prepping dinner and breakfast which was a good way to break the ice for a group of ten strangers.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend this trip to anyone with a sense of adventure but also wanting a level of freedom that can only be achieved in your own vehicle.

We'll be back!
5/5

As a 60+ year old woman this was something of a challenge for me - not so my husband who was literally the driving force! But I need not have concerned myself. Along with answering our numerous questions prior to arrival, Debs was there to see us before and after the trip and we couldn't have been more delighted with the way our safari unfolded. Jan & Amanda were absolutely top notch and went out of their way to ensure we had a truly fantastic trip. We felt we experienced the real Africa - the people, the places and the memorable animal encounters.
Highly recommend Africa Expedition Support for its personal touch and its professionalism which gave us the freedom and security to fully enjoy a true African adventure.

Amazing 14 day trip to Kenya and Tanzani - must do once in your life !
5/5

We were very happy with the professionalism as well as the overall experience on the trip. We had a guide/cook (Amos) and driver (Eddie) and a 22-seater "Boomer" all for just our family (that was us getting lucky as it was a bit early :-). With a 14 day safari where you are with the crew the whole time, there can be issues and problems, but they went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. I hit my 50th birthday and Amos organized a surprise for me right in one of the camps (this included getting a cake, balloons and even paying for all of it). We had a total of 6 game drives and on each drive, it was great. We saw the Big 5 and even the very shy leopard. They knew where to go and when - one our best viewing was a lion couple mating and we were the only game truck - generally at all animal sightings, there are many vehicles watching. They also arranged for the best possible accommodations and in each place would give us a choice. Food was also great - My wife is vegetarian and it was a challenge to keep all meals different. But Amos managed to do that. Some of the other things we wanted to highlight
1) My wife lost her gold/diamond necklace and she was pretty sure she lost it in the truck. We looked for it everywhere we couldn't and almost gave up. We told Amos that it might be in the truck and he looked for it at night and brought it to us the next morning - he found it under one of the rear seats - striking honesty.
2) On the last day, we wanted to do some Tanzanite shopping - Amos figured all of it and arranged for a cab and even came with us for it as the Boomer could not go into the business district

Debbie had warned be about being patient and that things may not always work as expected (This is Africa expression !), but our crew made sure everything worked like a charm even if things had to be improvised a little. Superb trip, Superb company.

An outstanding, unique, expedition support team that goes the extra distance !
5/5

AES is a small company, with highly skilled and very experienced staff who we would fully recommend. From their amazing "bush mechanics" to Debs at HQ , nothing was too difficult ...even agreeing to let our two children 11&12 participate on the Cairo to Cape expedition (where no other company would). Our "safari" was extraordinary, we had the most wonderful 4 months driving through some of the most interesting and diverse countries. Communications were very good, Debs is a wealth of knowledge on everything Africa and we always felt particularly safe and informed. Steve our mechanic was an absolute gem, his kindness to our children will always be remembered as will his spectacular stories and of course his expertise. We would return in a heart beat for another adventure with this terrific company. Oh and the food was fabulous too !

Africa Expedition Support: a travel experience with the lot!
5/5

From the very first day this proved to be a well organised trip with a wonderful support team who worked hard to give us an insight into the diverse life in the countries we traversed. Driving from Cape Town to Nairobi, with a restful stopover on Zanzibar, we encountered the foods, culture, amazing animals and birdlife of our host counties. Our accommodation consisted of a variety of experiences from small camps in orchards, by the ocean and in the grounds of colonial houses, to well fitted out lakeside cabins, bush camping on the Serengeti and the luxury of tented resorts. Daily meals provided by the staff were varied and excellent with accommodations made for those with special dietary requirements. Many interesting and memorable dining opportunities presented themselves along the way and were enthusiastically embraced. A trip of this nature, over eight weeks and seven counties, and with so many diverse experiences requires constant movement but a number of rest periods were appropriately placed allowing for independent sightseeing or catching up on personal chores. These breaks also allowed for an ordering of the sensory overload that is Africa. Our experience with Africa Expedition Support was wonderful and one we would strongly commend to those wishing an upfront and personal experience of not only the nature reserves of Africa but of its daily activities.

Nairobi to Livingstone in an old Land Rover Defender. Fantastic fun on a very well run expedition.
5/5

My best review of Africa Expedition Support is my recommending the trip to two friends who have signed up to do the same trip in 2014. They saw how much my wife and I enjoyed the trip and are keen to do it themselves. Debs, Thiemo and their crew met all of our expectations. Debs communicated well with us pre, during and post the trip so that we were confident at every step. The variety of experiences, accommodation and personalities on the trip were great. The trip leaders were knowledgeable and had the ideal personalities to guide us without leading us, allowing us to feel that we were being somewhat adventurous overlanders whilst still having a degree of oversight and protection. Highly recommended for those with a sense of independent adventure who cannot mount their own overland expedition.

Fantastic trip, excellent operators and sensational crew, what more could you ask.
5/5

We traveled with 3 children aged 9,11 and 12 and my 65 year old mother on a camping safari over 18 days throughout Kenya. We could not say enough good things about this company. Every little detail was catered to with amazing food and above expected equipment- the sleeping mats were mattresses rather than the thin foam camping mats we were expecting. The crew were brilliant, friendly and informative...and they dealt with the children perfectly. I could not recommend this company highly enough, do it you won't regret it!!!

The best company to visit Africa with!
5/5

I was lucky enough to be on one if Africa Expedition Support's tours in 2006 and again in 2007. The knowledge that they have of the whole of Africa is second to none, their stories and sense of fun was an unexpected bonus which really made the trip for me. I have done a few safaris over the years but Africa Expedition Support's safaris are the ones I remember the most and which were the most impressive. Not only do I always recommend them to anyone I know who is thinking of going to Africa but I am also counting down the days until I can do another trip with them!
