I'd like to give Tanzania Choice Safaris 10 STARS! -- if only that were an option
5/5

I'd like to give Tanzania Choice Safaris 10 STARS! If only that were an option. This was a professional, thorough, mind boggling, safari experience designed specifically for our interest in wildlife, scenery, cultural and agricultural experiences. On our three nation trip, we prioritized companies that were locally owned since much that happens in the safari world is done by by companies from abroad. Brenda worked with us to provide everything we were looking for and more! Our main guide for this 2 wk Tanzania tour, Noel, is arguably the best-of-the-best! -- Nothing but praise for Noel! Noel had an agreeable personality an easy laugh, an admirable work ethic, and was brimming with knowledge about the wonders of Tanzania. He came preparred, just in case, with several local nature guides to look up details about some birds and plants we were interested in. Everything Tanzania Choice Safaris arranged met or exceeded our very high expectations. I lost count of the animals and birds -- sooo many! The scenery was sublime: from dry grassy plains, to picturesque rocky outcroppings, large lakes, rivers, marshes big and small, mountains and forests. We learned about growing spices, coffee, fruits and vegetable, and about tribes and traditional and adaptive ways of living in todays world. We even made coffee by hand without machines from bean to brewing! I would also like to commend Cholow (forgive my inventive spelling of his name) who helped us navigate three locations in Zanzibar. He provided information about the culture and wildlife. He was on time (except for a minimal delay due to a flat tire once) He was also professional and informative. The company owner, Brenda, met us partway through and surprised two of us with gifts of Tanzanian crafts since we were on safari as birthday gifts to ourselves. Per our request, Brenda helped us arrange a visit to a music school, a dance performance, dance and drumming lessons, a fascinating day on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro having a cultural tour of Tanzania's Wachagga tribe -- a woman owned experience about their history, food, agriculture, cooking, and their adaptations to the 21st century. Book your Tanzania Choice Safari today!

The Safari Experience of My Dreams
5/5

From the start to finish my experience with Tanzania Choice Safari could not have gone better. Brenda was so responsive and helpful, and quickly put together a plan that was respectful of my budget and time, while accomplishing exactly what I hoped to do. Her communication about booking, details, and prep for my trip were well-timed and clear as could be.

I was met at the airport by Festo, who served as a transporter. He and I had a grand time exploring Arusha, complete with a delicious lunch at a local joint. He regaled me with stories of climbing Kilimanjaro, and was eager for me to plan a return trip to summit in one of his groups. He transported me to my incredible lodging at the Retreat House at St Catherine Monastery, just minutes from the gate of Ngorongoro Crater, where I was met by my guide Noel.

Noel was just as friendly and invested in his job, with a clear enjoyment of what he does. He explained the geological history of Ngorongoro, and shared with me how our trip would go. He was organized and efficient, and clearly knew the park well. Obviously the experience is different every day for every person, but I can’t help but think that Noel has some sort of special “in” with the residents of the parks he tours, because what I saw was nothing sort of incredible, miraculous even. He communicated with other guides and got me to spots to see animals before any crowds arrived, and I could hardly believe my luck. Along the way, he shared information about the behaviors and habitats of the animals we saw, and was a wealth of knowledge about the plants, habitats, birds, and mammals around every turn.

Our next day brought more adventure at Lake Manyara. We were the second vehicle into the park, and thus had the run of the place before anyone else was there. The things I saw I will not soon forget, including some truly special experiences observing lions and elephants.

Noel the. Took great pains to make sure I was at the airport in plenty of time, and he ensured I had a seamless check-in process. From the planning process to the parting at the airport, my experience was one of highest concierge-quality assistance and attention. I was already considering my next adventure with Tanzania Choice, and most definitely with a Noel, before we were even done with this adventure. However, if I’m not fortunate enough to come back, I can be more than satisfied that I had the safari of my dreams thanks to Brend and Noel. And if I’m ever intrepid enough to tackle Kili, Festo would absolutely be my pick as a guide. I cannot recommend Tanzania Choice Safaris more highly. Frankly, I would not even consider another group because the bar has been set so high.

Kakasi is so experienced, no viewing opportunity was missed in the NP and Crater.
5/5

Tanzania Choice Safaris took care of absolutely every detail of our trip in Africa. Kakasi (the owner) was our driver, and with 25 years of guiding experience we were rewarded with seeing not only the big 5, but also many, many more animals on the open savannas of Tarangire National Park, and in the Ngorongoro Crater. Our first adventure however was to hike the first 9 km of Kilimanjaro, and to finish the trip we spent 5 days on the beaches of the India Ocean on Zanzibar. Our villa had a private swimming pool. Tanzania Choice Safaris hit the ball waaayy out of the park on arranging the perfect Africa vacation. Brenda responded to every question prior to and during our trip immediately as well as providing invaluable information in the planning of our trip. Tanzania Choice Safaris will take the worry out of your Africa trip as well as an amazing success on all levels.

Leslie was incredible & literally went the extra mile to see the best animal sightings possible!
5/5

We highly recommend Tanzania Choice Safaris. We were referred by an acquaintance who lives in Tanzania so we felt very comfortable using them. Brenda is easy to work with and she provides a lot of information up front so you know what you need and what to expect. Brenda was also very helpful in assisting us so we could seek reimbursement after two unfortunate airline delays. The bandanas/gators on her packing list came in handy for the dusty roads.
We chose the middle accommodations package and were more than pleased with our cabins and tents which all had full private bathrooms, bottled water, mosquito netting, means of communicating with staff and a comfortable bed. The grounds were all in beautiful settings. The meals provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner were quite good. The background noise of animals at night was pretty cool.
Our guide Leslie was absolutely fantastic. Every day he searched endlessly to make sure that we saw as many of our favorite animals as possible. He found a leopard in a tree for us, a mother leopard with her cub, two cheetah sightings (one with cubs), lions with tiny cubs and lots of other male groupings. We got to see two incredible wildebeest river crossings, in addition to many elephants, giraffes, zebras, a variety of antelopes, buffaloes, birds of all kinds, hippos, baboons, monkeys, hyenas, mongoose, jackals, crocodiles etc. We did a walking safari in Tarangire National Park that was a lot of fun. Make sure to wear high boots to your knees like the rangers do. Ngorongoro Crater was beautiful and the Serengeti was like living The Lion King.😊 This trip was a dream come true and we hope to return with our children. We would definitely use Tanzania Choice Safaris again and hopefully Leslie will still be there because he made the trip really special.

Unforgettable memories.
5/5

Our experience with Tanzania Choice Safaris was truly outstanding from start to finish. The organization and attention to detail made the entire journey through Tanzania seamless and unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, every aspect of the safari was well-coordinated, and the team ensured we were comfortable and well-informed. The accommodations were top-notch, and the itinerary was perfectly crafted to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities while also allowing us to enjoy the beauty of the landscapes and local culture. The company’s focus on sustainability and respect for nature was evident throughout the trip.

The highlight of our safari was undoubtedly our guide, Noel. His deep knowledge of the region, wildlife, and ecosystems was remarkable. Not only did he have an exceptional ability to track and spot animals, but his passion for conservation and knowledge made each moment special. Noel went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience, always ensuring we were comfortable and engaged. His warmth, professionalism, and expertise added immense value to the trip, making it an unforgettable adventure. We highly recommend Tanzania Choice Safaris and Noel for anyone seeking an authentic and exceptional safari experience.

Leslie is the most Amazing, talented, hospitable, personable, knowledgeable guide - request again!
5/5

Brenda is absolutely a Gem. We communicated often as there were lots of moving parts for this trip. We first went to Zanzibar. We had the beach experience on the beach with a beach bun-aglow on the Indian Ocean. Then, we moved to Stone Town. We planned several excursions while we were there. The guide, UmCha and drivers were the absolute BEST. After a week there, we flew to mainland Tanzania. We started our Safari at Ngorongoro Crater. It is one of the most beautiful sites that you will ever see. We actually saw the Big 5 within 24 hours--I know, Leslie says this almost never happens. We continued our journey to central Serengeti and stayed there at a Bush camp. The set up is actually pretty nice. We continued to go on our amazing drives. After a couple days there, we continued on to northern Serengeti and drove right into observing the "Great Migration"...we saw the crossing a couple of times while we were there. One morning, we went on an unforgettable hot air ballon ride and saw the sun rise over the Serengeti. An unforgettable experience--every person that I have shared this with wants the exact same journey.

Extremely helpful - and patient with all our questions
5/5

This was a trip of a lifetime! I will add that the touring company is a key component of that. Our guides were experienced and highly knowledge of the wildlife, as well as the history of the area - and knew their way around. Our route started in the north by the Mara River for the Wildebeest crossing - then central Serengeti - then to Ngorongoro crater. We saw all the big five, 2 leopards, and 41 lions. We were unable to find a cheetah - but saw some smaller cats (can’t remember the name). Africa is a beautiful place and you will be very pleased with Tanzania Choice and the experience of their guides. Other helpful hints - bring binoculars and an animal guide book. The guides have them but much easier to have your own.
