Mt Kilimanjaro - 6 Day Marangu Mt. Kili and 4 Day Safari
This awesome experience started with very efficient correspondence from Justin, the CEO and owner of Tanzania Expeditions. My many questions were answered fully and promptly with only one month to plan this important trip... even the last minute panic emails 3 hours before landing.
My driver's patience was tested from the very beginning. He (Vitalis) was a saint! What I couldn't draw from an ATM, he got from a local woman's purse! lol Repeated advice: have $50US with you when you land at the airport. Within an hour of arrival I had my Visa, Passport and off we were to Arusha to get a sim card for my phone and check into the lovely Planet Lodge where I met my new best friend for the next week - my guide Tumaini! He had everything under control - has climbed this 180 times!! He helped me sort and pack for the trip.
Mt. Kili.: The next day I met the Team! and off we went to climb Africa's highest walk-able mountain! My guide Tumaini stuck with me while the porters and cook ran ahead to prepare the camp for me.
There were other groups with solo or group travelers. It became very evident that I was by far the luckiest in all these climbers. I had the most fun team. These guys cheered me on every step of the way. Kasian, the cook, made the best soups, salads and meals. Michael, the server, was always positive and forthcoming. If you don't eat, you have Kasian to answer to. lol Augustino looked after my luggage. He came to join us on Day 2, grabbed Tuma's 100 litre bag and Tuma took my 8 litre bag!! Oh what a relief! Day 3 acclimatization was great! We found our second geocache and planted one at Zebra Rocks. Gerald was at Zebra Rocks waiting for us. The Rangers and staff at the huts are very accommodating. For 10000TZ you can charge your phone overnight. Fabian, the 4th porter was quiet and cheerful. Day 4 we made it to Kibo where you are supposed to sleep and rest but unfortunately I had to share my cabin and maybe got 30 minutes sleep before the final climb. That's where all the angels and saints converge, Gerald had my back and Tuma was on lead. I fell asleep a few times only to find Gerald's hands on my arms putting me back in vertical position!! I bargained and pleaded but there was no turning back. At 9:25AM we reached the summit! I could not have been in better company! Wow!! The team was at Kibo cheering us on when we arrived!! Very memorable trip. Great value for whatever it costs. Please see my album at: https://goo.gl/photos/PPqcyGwW8M1u7JBq9
Safari - My new driver Sammy picked me up at Planet Lodge Hotel and off we went for a wonderful 4 day Safari. Two days in the Serengeti with an added Hot Air Balloon Ride and two days in Ngorogoro. The highlight of my trip was the countless hours of educational conversation I received from Samson about the Masai people and their practices. We stopped at a Masai school on our way back. The Safari was great and all the wildlife. Sammy made sure I got up and close. The food was fine dining, the accommodations were exquisite. I was a little taken aback by the initial sight of the tents but soon felt very safe in these spacious hotel accommodations with double layers of tarp. My last night was at a Sopa Resort - 5 star but with all the same comforts of my previous 2 nights. Please see my album at: https://goo.gl/photos/eKRr5ZTThtW8DCpz5
My 10 day package with Tanzania Expeditions sadly ended with my flight to Zanzibar.
Thank you so much Justin for making this trip possible and stress-free!!

Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater
When my parents came to visit my girlfriend and I we decided to use Tanzania expeditions based on having a great experience climbing Mount Meru with them the year before. They were equally good this time. Our 3 day safari was well organised in advance with good communication from the team before booking and the safari itself was smoothly led by our driver/guide Emmanuel. We actually had the most phenomenal safari - with more activity and sightings in 3 days than in many previous safaris put together. It was pretty incredible! The choice of tented camps was great and Emmanuel's approach of being knowledgeable when asked things but appreciating when just sitting and watching was called for was appreciated. Great service and highly recommended now for safaris as well as mountain trips!

Amazing Trip
Tanzania Expeditions set up and delivered a fantastic tour for my husband and I. We hiked Mount Meru, did an 8 day safari and a short rest on Mafia Island. From getting initial information through the entire trip, nothing short of professional. We felt completely at ease and looked after by our tour organizer, Justin (the owner) and our on the ground client representative. Our hiking guide and our safari driver were attentive and knowledgeable. We were well fed and TE ensured that we had an enjoyable worry-free experience.

A liftime experience
One of the most perfected trips! From the very start to the very end, a flawless experience all because of a great and dedicated team! From justin who took great care of us and was of great aid when we were planning the trip to alex who was there to ensure that everything was on point! As for the hike, frank and the team, you guys are the best! You took great care of us and made this summit a memorable one! As for the safari, it was merely indescribable! From the amazing most breath taking farm house we stayed in, to the amazing scenery! It could not have happened without sunny our safari guide, honeslty a great man! Thank you everyone for a lifetime experience
Tanzania in April 2017
My wife and I took a seven day safari with Tanzania Expeditions towards the end of April 2017. We travel quite extensively. That's said not to boast, but to give context that we have experienced many different sights and tours around the world. Our experience with Justin (Owner) and Tanzania Expeditions was truly phenomenal. Justin was extremely patient and responsive during the process of setting up the ideal, customized itinerary for the two of us. We were able to spend time in Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Our guide, Emmanuel, is definitely one to request if you do go on a safari with TE. He is extremely experienced, knowledgeable about most everything we saw and also maintains an enthusiasm that is contagious. Emmanuel became more like a friend as the safari progressed, and he exceeded all of our expectations.
We were fortunate to visit during the rainy season and yet didn't experience more than an hour of rain during our seven days. We saw countless numbers of animals and the lodges that Justin organized were definitely high end.
Booking with Justin and TE comes highly recommended from me with no concerns or reservations.

Mt. Meru Claimb
My grown daughter and I had a fine experience climbing Mt. Meru. Tanzania Expeditions did a great job for us on the 4 day climb and we made it to the summit. We chose Meru over Kilimanjaro in order to spend fewer days on the climb. But Meru has some exposed areas that were a little concerning and I got a scraped knee when I fell on loose rock during the descent. In retrospect, I would do Kilimanjaro instead of Meru. I would use Tanzania Expeditions again.

Tanzania & Zanzibar trip
We, a group of fifteen well traveled people, visited Tanzania for 8 days and Zanzibar island for 3 days in July 2017, hosted by Tanzania Expeditions tour operator. We all loved it so much and voted it as the best trip we ever went over the years. We had so much fun, took lots of beautiful close up pictures of wild animals, and the beautiful country scenes. Thanks to all well informed and experienced drivers, we had a wonderful time, beyond our pre-trip expectations. Their service is excellent, well tuned to our needs. Overall, I would strongly recommend them without any reservation. Hakuna Matata

Exceptional Safari Experience for a Family--Comparable to Best Tour Companies in the World
Tanzania Expeditions is an exceptional, locally-owned, Tanzanian-based travel agency specializing in moderately priced safaris. I am a World Studies Professor at Miami Dade College, and I have travelled throughout the world, including 100 countries, more than 50 African trips, and 10 safari experiences in east and south Africa. Tanzania Expedition’s customer care, price, tour guides, constant communication and itinerary are as outstanding as much higher priced luxury safari operators like Micato or Kensington Tours. Not to mention that by using Tanzania Expeditions, you are directly benefitting the local Tanzanian economy.
My family of four booked a private 9-day safari with 4-day Zanzibar beach extension. Even though we booked our tour relatively late during the busiest tourist season for the Great Wildebeest Migration, Tanzania Expeditions very quickly reserved available rooms and offered us options, including periodically checking on if closer available rooms to our sites became available. The service was friendly and impeccable as we altered our plans about 5 times before arriving in Tanzania. From the moment we were picked up at the Kilimanjaro Airport, our service was superb. All three of our guides went out of their way to make sure that we had a wonderful experience, including checking in on each of us as we had traveler’s stomach ailments or tiredness. Our guide listened to our interests and what we wanted to see, and amazingly accommodated our requests every day. It was if our tour guides had super secret knowledge of where the animals would be situation. Each guide was also exceptional in checking in and taking an interest in my children’s interests (ages 13 and 16). When we needed a bathroom in the middle of the national parks of Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Tarangire, our guide found restrooms in a matter of 15-30 minutes. When we asked for more time to shop, the guides gave us more time; and when we needed more time to watch a particular animal, the guide watched with us. Every night we had an overview with our tour guide to determine what we wanted to do the next day and make plans. And our safari jeep was hand cleaned every night even in the middle of the Serengeti at least 100 miles from the nearest town. If we needed a slower day with less animal viewing, our guides made it happen.
And the price for our safari and moderate lodge accommodations with in-room bathrooms and glamping tents in the Serengeti were excellent—especially considering that we only gave the company 6 weeks notice of our trip. Almost all of the lodges had all you can eat, healthy food with a combination of European continental and local Tanzanian cuisine. The food was very good to excellent at each spot, and there was enough variety that even my picky eating child was happy. The price for our two week, private excursion was nearly $4-5,000 less than most other luxury and high-end safaris without sacrificing the services and amenities.
After using some of the most exclusive tour companies on the planet in the past few years, I would most highly recommend Tanzania Expeditions.

Perfect Safari!
We had a dream safari with Tanzanian Expeditions. The team is very professional and responsive, and we felt extremely safe and well taken care of the entire time we were in Tanzania. They were flexible with the itinerary, switching out one of the parks and taking me tanzanite shopping as requested on the first day.
Our guide, Ibrahim, was very knowledgeable and had an incredible eye for spotting wildlife. He frequently saw animals while driving that we could barely find with binoculars they provided and specific instructions. He was also good at predicting their movements and positioning the vehicle for our photos.
I got pricing for six day, mid-range safaris from about 15-20 companies and Tanzania Expeditions was very reasonably priced. The tour was good value for what we spent. The lodges & tented camps we stayed in were nicer than I expected from the photos online and the food was very good at all of them. We had no vehicle issues and it seemed well maintained.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience with this company and I would definitely book with them again if we’re lucky enough to come back to Tanzania! A huge thank you to Alex, Ibrahim, and the team for a really special trip.
