Amazingly efficient and professional in every way
Encounter Safari Africa have been fantastic from Chris in the office to when I started booking our trip back in April 2018 until the end of our tour. Chris is incredibly prompt in replying to emails and answered every question I could throw at him. Payment was easy. The tour itself, our guide Martin was excellent from navigating the treacherous traffic in Kampala to managing to get our vehicle out of a sticky off road situation. He told us about the area, stopped off to provide local food from the highway towards Rushaga. The vehicle was very comfortable for our journey to see the Gorillas. The accommodation in Rushaga and Kampala were excellent choices, the staff at both were so hospitable (Rushaga gorilla havens lodge and fairway hotel). Also the company they chose to use for whitewater rafting is excellent (adrift), I couldn’t have felt safer. If you are thinking of booking a tour with this company, you really don’t need to think about it. They will look after you so well. Once again thank you to Martin and Chris for an excellent trip.

4 day Chimp and Gorilla Trek
Overall we had a great experience and trip with Encounter Africa. Their communication was fast and easy, the services were great, things ran very smoothly, and we loved our tour guide Namaala Alex Bob. He was generous, thoughtful, and a great driver.

Great Pricing and Service to go and See the Gorillas!
Alex, our driver was absolutely wonderful. He drove to the house ahead of time, just to make sure he knew where it was. He picked us up and helped me get Data because I needed to do some work. He was informative and entertaining throughout the whole trip!
The lodge was really lovely and has beautiful views of Bwindi. The food was great, and prepared well for the hike. They even made a flower welcome sign for us!
My one piece of advice to make the trip better is to send a list of the things people need for the hike (like gloves, rain jacket, etc) BEFORE THEY leave.

Unforegettable holidays
I have been very lucky that I have chosen the Encounter Africa Safaris Ltd to organise my trip to Bwindi National Park. Everything was better than I expected (accommodation, food, transport, customer service) Two young gentlemen from the company Tyson and Patrick as well all staff from Rushaga Gorilla Haven’s Lodge plus Chris from the office made every day of the tour very special. I only can say that words cannot describe the lovely time I have had. I would like to recommend all travellers the Encounter Africa Safaris Ltd for any tour or safari in Uganda. You will not be disappointed. That’s for sure. Wish you all to have such a great holiday as I have had in Uganda.

Absolutely perfect from day 1
Everything was fast knowing that we started contact 5 days prior to arrival
Communication was fast reliable and very precise.
Service on the ground was excellent, choice of lodge amazing and the people involve make the trip a total difference.
Our flight was delay and we miss the connection, manage to organize a visit to the swamp to track the shoebill
Can’t recommend more and will return soon as Uganda has so much to offer

Perfect operator for arranging gorilla tracking with a child. Excellent service!
We have contacted Encounter Africa Safaris to arrange a gorilla and chimp tracking permit for our 12 year old child. Everything went sursprisingly smooth although we contacted the company only a couple of weeks before our arrival and planned trekking date. Their service is exceptional and we can recommend them with all our hearts. We felt that we were really taken care of for the whole time. I need to emphasize that we did not buy a package tour from them (we travelled Uganda self-driving witj a rental car), but just the gorilla and chimp tracking permits. Still, we enjoyed a 5 star service from Encounter Safaris. Their email responses were prompy and precise. Our guide and main contact Patrick Atalyeba was immensly helpful. He kept in touch with us for our whole journey, consulted our itinerary, advised as to the accomodation. He contacted local people to explain to us the way through Bwindi to QENP which we did by ourselves with a car. If you are planning a trip to Uganda or need any help while being there Encounter Safaris is a place to start with. We enjoyed our trip very much. Thank you for everything!

Wonderful experience!! Just need more clear communication with the company/tour operators
Beautiful scenery, parks and accommodation. The accommodation was very beautiful and had warm showers and amazing views. We felt like royalty. We saw elephants, lions hippos, lots of birds, lots of monkeys etc. The food was delicious and you get ALOT of delicious food.
I would recommend better communication with the tour operators and the clients. Our itinerary was changed a couple of times without our knowledge and we were a little upset with this. One of the hotels was not available and they wanted to put us in a place that had bad reviews. We did get a nice place in the end but it was a little stressful. We also felt a little pressured to tip every single guide on the gorilla trek, chimp trek and multiple community walks we went on. We spent over $4500 for the tour and didn't think we would need to tip every single person we encountered. I would suggest the tour include tips if this is necessary for Ugandan customs and cultural norms. We didn't mind tipping here and there but every single hotel staff, trekkers, boat crews and cultural guides would have cost us over $1500 USD.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and Uganda is a very beautiful and friendly country.
