Fantastic- Even better than I had hoped for
I had a 12 day trip in Rwanda and Uganda which included Safari drives, Gorilla and Chimp trekking. We were with Encounter for the full trip and it was excellent. Highlights included
-Our Guide Joseph- he was a fantastic knowledgeable guide with eyes like binoculars when it came to finding animals on game drives. He had a great insight into local culture, a great sense of humor and nothing was too much to ask for
- The planning- Chris in the office trailored the trip based on what we asked for, he was always quick with a response and was able to build in bespoke elements to the trip with ease
- What we saw- The Gorillas were awesome, in both Uganda and Rwanda- very different experiences. While the permits are expensive it is truly a fantastic experience. On top of this in safari drives we saw everything. I'd always thought Kenya trumped rest of East Africa for game but I saw more in terms of variety in a few drives than expected- Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Tree Climbing Lions, Hippo's and an incredible array of bird life
-Locations we stayed- honestly we didnt expect them to be as nice as they were. Great locations which were peaceful and very close to the days activities. Broadbill and Murchison falls were the best of the bunch
I'd strongly recommend Encounter if you are considering a trip to East Africa- go to see the Gorillas, the bird life, the game and the local culture and go with Encounter- it'll be the trip of a life time

Fantastic gorilla trekking and safari holiday
Spent a fantastic two weeks in Rwanda and Uganda on an Encounter gorilla trekking and safari holiday. Encounter were very efficient and helpful whilst the trip was being arranged, responding to queries promptly and building in a number of our extra requests into the itinerary. On the tour our guide Joseph was hugely knowledgeable when it came to both the wildlife and different cultures, very friendly and ever cheerful, and happy to adapt and be flexible when we requested changes on the road. We would definitely travel with them again- the best organised tour I've been on. Thank you Encounter!

A well organised and planned trip that catered to our every need.
The service provided from the main office was fantastic, they answered every question we had and were very prompt in their replies. Our guide Tolbert was just wonderful, he was polite, informative and very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more.
Our vehicle was very comfortable and clean. The standard of accommodation was great, especially in the national park near the gorilla trekking. The views were breathtaking and the food was first class.
Seeing the gorillas was a once in a lifetime experience. If I came back to Uganda I would definitely travel with this company again.

Very well-organised trip where I totally trusted the guide/driver
Encounter Africa Safaris organised a trip for me and my mother, which was one of the best trips of my life. We explored the fantastic landscapes and animal life of Uganda, and it was all very well-planned in order for us to see as much as possible. Tolbert was our guide and driver, and we really went along very well. He has good knowledge of the animal and bird life and he was always gladly explaining what we saw around us; making sure that we were having a good time. He was always thinking one step ahead and made sure the timetable was followed. The safari car that he drove was very luxurious and felt safe, even on some very bumpy roads. I would warmly recommend Encounter Africa Safaris, and Tolbert as a guide especially.

Good experience
Our driver Phennie was very helpful with our questions, not only informative about the wildlife but also helped us to plan our next step of our journey once we left him.
The communication was quite good before the trip also, although we would have appreciated the option to pay online or credit card!

Fantastic experience!
We had a wonderful honeymoon experience with Encounter Africa Safaris. Chris was professional in all correspondence leading up to the trip & put our minds at ease. From the moment we arrived at the airport, everything was exactly as they'd outlined (and better!!). Our guide, Joseph, was knowledgeable, flexible, funny, and great to be around (which is important, since we spent many hours of our trip in the car with him). He made us feel like he was there to give us the best experience possible, and was happy to adapt to any of our preferences. We would absolutely use this company again & recommend to friends. Thank you so much Encounter, especially Chris & Joseph. We will never forget our time in Uganda, it was once in a lifetime!!

Amazing experience!!
We had contact with Chris for planning, he is quick, very responsive and kind. Once all planned we met with Joseph, our driver and guide who made the trip a great experience. I am a bit complicated person myself but Joseph was kind, patient, all the time worried if we were ok and happy. He is easygoing, fun and made the trip so pleasant that we felt like at home. We miss him already, and of course Uganda! Will definitely go back and keep on exploring the country with him!

TV production recce to Uganda
I've worked with Encounter Africa Safaris as local partner for a Dutch TV production. We did the research trip in November 2016. Edson and Torbert did the pre-production and took care of all logistic arrangements, as well as scouting locations/stories/people. It was a well organised research trip and I left the country with enough options to fill 3 episodes, if needed. Tolbert travelled with me during the research trip and was fun the have around. He took care of all the arrangements and was punctual and everything one would expect from a producer/driver. I would strongly recommend them for your visit (business or pleasure) to Uganda.
