Unstructured, unorganized and not carefully listing to the clients demand.
Overall it has been a nice trip and our guide and driver made a good job so that we improved the rating from 2 to 3 stars. The reasons why we don't rate this 4 to 5 stars are the following:
- We booked the safari in a different order and after we completed the trip, I have to recommend everyone to start with Amboseli first, second Lake Naivasha (or even better Lake Nakuru) and finish with Masai Mara as the Masai Mara is mind blowing and the other 2 are "only" good. So finally it felt from starting at the top, in the middle it was kind of useless and the end it was a bit better than expected but again, nothing to compare with Masai Mara.
- Our main goal of the trip was to see the GNUs crossing at the Mara River, but we have there only been for 15 minutes because it was raining. So this was really bad organised.
- We had to pay another fee which taken from the Bank of the operator even though I could evidence that I have paid the full amount Inch the local fees of my Bank.
So overall, I can't recommend Mwema.

Posted on Apr 19, 2023Thank you for your feedback. We seek to use all the feedback we receive to improve our service delivery to our customers and give them the best experience ever. The challenge we faced during the booking of your safari was room availability in the order you preferred. We ended up getting rooms in the reverse order starting with Masai Mara and finishing in Amboseli. We regret the unsatisfactory experience.

Customer Service Improvement Required
Our initial contact with Simon Mwema was very good. However, this deteriorated after we had paid. We had received 2 different times for the flight departure for our safari. I repeatedly tried to clarify this with no answer to my emails. It was not until 2 days before our departure from Australia that I received an email but with no departure time on the form. Finally, I received the time(1/2 hour earlier than previously stated) and the fact the flight was with a different airline. We tried to confirm the flight time just prior to the safari but did not receive an answer. This was all very unsettling.

Posted on Jul 19, 2017Hello Susannah,
I admit that the email exchange was slow at some point and sincerely regret the nervousness it caused. This was occasioned by some internet connectivity issues in the office during the later stages of our email communication. The problem has since been resolved and emailing is back to normal. I can assure you that slow email response is not the norm with me. All in all, I am happy your safari started and ended with no hitches.
Best wishes,
Simon

Serengeti big and full of animals..
Comparing 2015 Masai Mara experience guiding was weak. The foods in the hotels as well.
Hotel staff was tired and looked unhappy mainly.
We should repeat a few times and wait so long time to reach the desired F&B.

Very friendly and was quick to respond
We really enjoyed our safari. Our tour guide was very nice. Communication was easy. Since we went for a mid range package the accomodation was good. Also, it was our first time on safari in Kenya and we wanted to see as many place as possible. We went to Maasai Mara, Lake Elemental, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli and Tsavo East. Maasai Mara was a good experience but were tired after the all day game drive🦓🦁. Add that to 7 days of travelling it was a bit hectic. Nevertheless we enjoyed the wild life 🦒🦌. For us Amboseli was the best because we did sunrise and sunset drives 🌞 (Mt kilimanjaro is beautiful 🏔) Also Tsavo east was amazing! Next time we would love to just pick 1-2 places and spend more time and experience it fully. 😃

'A Frican' Good Time ;)
Our 1st Safari—and an experience we will never forget. Malini’s organisation of every detail and on the ground support, ensured that we had a truly unforgettable holiday. We were 3 families, with people ranging from 5 to 74—and everything we could imagine was planned and catered for. Highly recommend going through Malini for a worry-free and enjoyable African safari.

Our tour operator Malini gave a package to suit our family (UAE) with mixed age group 5-74 years
An amazing African experience with Mwema safaris. Our tour conductor Malini Samaga operating from UAE customized our eight day tour to suit our family with young children and senior citizens as well with good pricing.
There were no hassles with booking and communications.
The drivers went out of their way to make sure we got the best of sightings. Our driver Mr. Anthony, a very knowledgeable guide kept the children highly entertained yet well informed!
I highly recommend the hot air balloon.
The road leading to Masai Mara is dusty and tedious and under construction. That was the only difficult patch.
The journey back from Masai Mara to Nairobi is loaded with traffic and the timing has to be well planned to reach airport on time as traffic is very heavy and unpredictable.

A very pleasant safari experience in a beautiful landscape and with confortable lodging
As a hole our safari trip with Mwema to Meru National Park was very good. We had previously been to Maasai Mara and we really liked the diversity of the landscape in Meru. We didn't see a lot of animales but the senery was outstanding!
We found the lodging very comfortable and the food and service was good.
The only thing that we were a bit disappointed with was our driver/guide. He was at times more interested in his cell phone than in searching for animales. We where also a bit annoyed when we had to wait for him after the lunch break going back to Nairobi, not knowing where he had gone.
Obviously he had some privat matters to attend to that took some time...

A hugely enjoyable, well organised experience.
The company communicated well with us, both before and during the excursion.
We were only surprised once; to learn of a last-minute change of one hotel; from the Crater Rim View to the Tanzanice Lodge. But we had no complaints there, because the Tanzanice is stunning! We would happily have stayed there all three nights if it was possible. Actually Tanzanice gave us two family rooms for the price of one, because no-one else was staying that night.
Our only gripe on the hotel front was the final one - the Twiga Lodge in Mto wa Mbu. (Don't confuse it with the one in Arusha!) This was more of a campsite with some rooms around; check-in was like a military camp and our "family room" was one tiny room with three equal-sized beds crammed into it. Barely room to move, but it was for one night, and the food was OK. But it was explained - you pays your money you takes your choice, we went for a low-end deal so they had to choose hotels which fit the budget. We got lucky with the Tanzanice.
The Green Mountain Hotel in Arusha (our first one) was fine - clean, friendly, and had a very impressive restaurant, where everything is cooked from scratch (even the bread) as you watch!
Our 3 day safari took in Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. And we thoroughly enjoyed each day - plenty of lions at Ngorongoro. We only missed out on cheetah, didn't see any of them. But that's not the fault of the safari guys!
Our Toyota Land Cruiser had seen much better days - bits falling off it en route and the horn sounding of its own accord occasionally - but we found that rather charming. And we enjoyed the company of our fine guide Julius. A really nice chap with his own interesting history.
I'd have no problem using this company again. Many thanks guys!

Fantastic Safari
- We were on a 6-day safari last month to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. Haji our tour guide was wonderful. Everything went according to the plan. Simon was very helpful in planning our trip and responded back efficiently to all our needs during the trip.
