We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has made an effort to make this safari tour for us.
Especially with Mr. Simon, who organized everything very well. Our driver was very dedicated and competent. Our accommodations were also very good.
Mwema Africa Safaris is highly recommended. Thanks again for everything.

The Best Experience
5/5

My friend and I decided to go on a safari after volunteering for a few weeks in Uganda. We were a little concerned prior to booking due to the fact that we are both younger and don't have much experience outside of the country without our families. However, I don't think we could have picked a better company. I personally picked this safari due to the good reviews and they did not disappoint! Everything was clear and went smoothly. We received a pre-departure packet prior to leaving that had a detailed description of everything we would be doing throughout the trip. Simon was always quick to answer our emails/ questions and our tour guide was amazing! He made sure we saw all the animals possible and we were lucky enough to see the Big Five within the first two days. I can not say enough good things about this safari. Highly recommend this company to any first timers looking for a smooth, well planned out, and fun safari tour where you're able to see lots of up close animals!

Perfect in every way.
5/5

Our experience with Mwema Africa was excellent from start to finish. After deciding to go to Ol Pejeta, Samburu, and Meru, we reached out to 5 companies for information and quotes. Simon provided the most comprehensive and helpful information by far and one of the lowest quotes. He gave us tips for saving money, and made a great suggestion to upgrade one tent camp for a slight price increase, which we found very much worth it. Simon's communication was prompt and thorough from inquiry through departure, making recommendations when we wanted them and booking things we decided on. We stayed at Serena Sweetwaters, Samburu Inrepids, and Ikweta in Meru.

Our driver James was incredible. Unlike me, he was always early - and waited patiently. With 25 years experience, he knew Samburu and Ol Pejeta inside out. Meru isn't as commonly visited (we only saw one other car in 1.5 days of game drives) and he competently navigated that park as well.

Our safari far exceeded our expectations from day one. James was a superb spotter and freely shared his vast knowledge about all types of wildlife. We saw the last two northern white rhino, a huge male lion, several prides of lions, approximately ten cheetahs, tons of elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, all species of antelopes, and many rhinos and hippos. James went to great lengths to also find an elusive leopard in a tree. We saw a number of Somali and regular ostriches and were treated to a mating dance by a pair in Ol Pejeta. That is quite a sight! We were in a safari van, not a land rover, and he still got us very much offroad for the best viewings.

As we spent 6 days together, James also answered various questions about the Kenyan economy, life in Nairobi, etc.

And for anyone wary of aggressive driving, James is a 100% within the speed limit type of driver (who very competently navigates Nairobi traffic as well as the many unpaved, challenging roads shared by cars, motorbikes, pedestrians and livestock.)

They are a small company that has been around for 20 or so years. I hope to return and would absolutely book with them again.

Europian Professionalism and warm African heart
5/5

We spent 5 safari days in Kenya (Masai Mara, Lake Naiwasha, Chyulu Hills, Tsavo East). This agency was recommended to me by some friends who made a safari with them last year.

Everything was simply perfect : Simon, "the boss", is always present by web site, Whatsapp, email, with African geniality and great professionalism. Everything was clear and simple from the beginning of our relationship to the end of it, and during the trip as well : he sent to me a quotation in advance, with prices and accomodation proposals, we chosed the most suitable for us and he booked everything and everything worked perfectly. We also asked him to book a hotel in Nairobi for the night of our arrival and a restaurant in Nairobi for the night of our departure, and he arranged anything.

Our guide and driver Moses maybe is not the "always on time man", but he's really experienced, very sympathetic and a very good driver.
So thank you all, guys! We hope we can meet you next time we'll come in your amazing country.

A hugely enjoyable, well organised experience.
4/5

The company communicated well with us, both before and during the excursion.

We were only surprised once; to learn of a last-minute change of one hotel; from the Crater Rim View to the Tanzanice Lodge. But we had no complaints there, because the Tanzanice is stunning! We would happily have stayed there all three nights if it was possible. Actually Tanzanice gave us two family rooms for the price of one, because no-one else was staying that night.

Our only gripe on the hotel front was the final one - the Twiga Lodge in Mto wa Mbu. (Don't confuse it with the one in Arusha!) This was more of a campsite with some rooms around; check-in was like a military camp and our "family room" was one tiny room with three equal-sized beds crammed into it. Barely room to move, but it was for one night, and the food was OK. But it was explained - you pays your money you takes your choice, we went for a low-end deal so they had to choose hotels which fit the budget. We got lucky with the Tanzanice.

The Green Mountain Hotel in Arusha (our first one) was fine - clean, friendly, and had a very impressive restaurant, where everything is cooked from scratch (even the bread) as you watch!

Our 3 day safari took in Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. And we thoroughly enjoyed each day - plenty of lions at Ngorongoro. We only missed out on cheetah, didn't see any of them. But that's not the fault of the safari guys!

Our Toyota Land Cruiser had seen much better days - bits falling off it en route and the horn sounding of its own accord occasionally - but we found that rather charming. And we enjoyed the company of our fine guide Julius. A really nice chap with his own interesting history.

I'd have no problem using this company again. Many thanks guys!
