It was great experience at all . Accommodation in Tented camps(Agata and Kati Kati) was excellent. We saw all the animals that can be seen. It's A Jungle Out There! Don't Go With Anyone Else!!
This was to be the holiday of a lifetime and, thanks to the efforts and expertise of "It Started in Africa" and our guide, Barraka, it most certainly was!
We wanted to do a little voluntary work, so the company built in a 3-day visit to Buloma Orphanage, near Dar es Salaam, at the beginning. To meet these children and the wonderful people who look after them was both an honour and a delight. While the gifts we brought from our school in Doha (Sherborne Qatar) made a great impact on the kids, the impact they made upon my children (and their parents) will last a lifetime!
From Dar es Salaam, we then flew to Arusha to begin our safari. The flight, with Precision Air, was a pleasure and, about 10 minutes after touching down at Kilimanjaro Airport, we were in the Land Cruiser with Barraka and off on the most interesting and exciting trip of our lives.
While I can't credit the company on the wildlife, I must say that Barraka's knowledge and experience helped fill each day with amazing sights. To be up-close (really close!) with lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, rhinos, wildebeest, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, gazelles and warthogs was truly amazing. Also, the birdlife and plants of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro were a joy to behold.
While the food was not exactly cordon bleu, it was wholesome, plentiful and much appreciated. We didn't go to Africa to eat out!
The company ensured that we were well-equipped and comfortable while also experiencing sufficient inconvenience to feel we were 'roughing it'! The campsites of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro were basic. Once again, if we wanted pools, bars and Wifi, we would have gone to France...
For a trip to Kilimanjaro, we were delivered into the hands of Lyimo, a friendly, wise and enthusiastic guide whose great-grandfather was a guide on the first recorded ascent in 1896! He guided us to 9000ft, where we spent the night in beautiful wooden cabins. Lyimo's knowledge and expertise made the whole trip memorable and enjoyable (despite the aches and pains that followed!)
One thing that delighted us was the choice of guest house at the start and end of our stay. 'Christina's House' is a quirky, beautiful two-storey guesthouse, with seperate restaurant near Arusha. The food is first class, cooked to order by Rosie and the rooms are a model of sophisticated simplicity.
By bringing guests to such places, "It Started in Africa" is working to stimulate and nurture local enterprise.
I could go on and on... This was an excellent trip which left us with many great memories and an abiding love for Tanzania. This could not have happened without the excellent work of "It Started in Africa" and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Our six day safari was the most incredible and memorable trip of our lives.
We just returned from a six day safari that included Tarangire, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. From the beginning, "It Started in Africa " was responsive to all my emails, answered all my questions and the prices were reasonable. Our guide, Joel, was the best. He was knowledgeable, patient and friendly. He met us at the airport and was with us the entire safari. We saw the big 5 but more than that we saw wonderful scenes such as a small elephant nursing, lionesses hunting, cheetahs stalking and much more. Joel was willing to go further into the parks away from the majority of the vehicles so that we could experience these incredible scenes. The roads are bumpy and dusty but in spite of that Joel made any discomfort worth it.
Our accommodations were great. Very comfortable with fabulous views.
Each day surpassed the previous day. Cannot say enough about the friendliness of everyone I dealt with at the company. Best trip of our lives!!

Amazin guide
I just wanted to thank you for an amazing holiday, I have put a review on TripAdvisor but wanted to say in particular what a fantastic guide Deogratius was and how much effort he went to, to make sure we had the time of our lives. He really was committed to us having the best experience of Tanzania possible and as a result - we did!
When you're spending so much time with someone as we did with him, such an easygoing personality, and such kindness and consideration makes a huge difference. He really did go the extra mile and I would have no hesitation in recommending your company as a result of our experiences with him. I would say he is a true asset to your company

Amazing family experience
Hello Vanessa I hope you are doing well.
I want to thank you for everything ,We have an amazing journey. Your country its beautiful and all the people are very kind, .we had a wonderful experience. I want to recognize the job of the drivers we allways felt safe with them ;they were vey kind with us Thanks for all your organization.
I want to comment some points that may be can help you in the future
We were the only guests at the Masai Mara Hotel and they did not made our room
The hotel its really far from the ballon ride nobody told us that it was going to be a two hour drive at 4 am in those roads, so with the empty stomach we had a tought trip. The ballon was great
Its a good idea to ask the tourist for large plastic bags to put inside all the stuff you carry because the roads in Tanzania are SO dusty that you have dust everywhere , maybe the suitcases can be covered with a hard plastic. I think all your customers will appreciate that tip.
At Kilimanyaro airport they asked for our vaccines, they wanted to see the records. The stopped us because I had them in the suitcase, it´s better to bring them with you
The Arusha hotel its okay they did nt have hot water and the road to enter its very ugly so you cant go out for a walk. Maybe its better to look for another one.
The lodges were beautiful, and the dinners were really great specially the soups.
I really appreciate all the work and that every question I made you answered it so fast..
We all enjoy the trip.
Thanks

Honeymoon in Africa!
My wife and I travelled on our honeymoon throughout the Serengeti, Ngorogoro and Tangire National Park. Our tour guide was Arasto who was absolutely incredible over our five day adventure. From the start, we knew that we were in good hands. Our guide drove for hours and hours, answered any questions we had with pleasure and an upbeat attitude. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner together and can say that we made a friend by the end of our vacation. For anyone considering a safari in Tanzania, we highly recommend "It Started in Africa".
Travelling in September was great because it was dry season. The weather in the day-time was hot to say the least; but overnight temperatures dipped and bringing proper clothing is important. The guide will look after the rest and ensure you have a great time. We said from day number one, as long as we see a cheetah, we will leave Africa happy. Arasto patiently watched for hours and hours until we found the rare cheetah. You could truly tell he loved his job! Would definitely go back, incredible experience!

Amazing and awesome experience
The tour was perfect, amazing and unforgettable. It’s worth while going on a safari tour with your company when everything is well planned and organized. I would strongly recommend tourists coming to Nairobi use your services.

Excellent experience
I used It started in Africa to organize our safari in Tanzania and we couldn't have chosen a better Tour Operator. From my first email, Bernard was extremely helpful and He guided me, listening to my every need and desires, in order to create a custome-made safari, which would fulfil our dreams.
Once in Tanzania, our driver Deo was waiting for us at the airport and he has proven himself a great and very knowledgeable travel companion; thanks to him, we saw so many animals in all kind of situation. We went to Lake Manyara, to Ndutu, to Ngorongoro and to Serengeti. Each of these parks were wonderful and all the lodges and tended camps suggested by Bernard were just outstanding.
So do not hesitate if you want to have a superb experience in Tanzania and enjoy a problemless safari and stay, It started in africa will do everything to help you!
