The BEST Tour Guides In Tanzania!
I took the Marangu Village Culure and Coffee Tour on June 16th 2019.
Main points:
- always on time
- very polite tour guideswho are knowledgable about the country
- very accomodating to any needs you have
- fascinating Chagga tour, with excellent coffee (from someone who has tried many coffees and never liked any except French Vanilla)
- refreshing hike to Kilasia Waterfall
- free wifi if needed
- photographers on demand if required
Full review:
I was immediately emailed after booking the tour to confirm my pickup location, after which we confirmed the pick up time for 8:30. It was a solo tour although I thought it would have been a group, and being a young woman with two male tour guides I was apprehensive at first. However, their personalities and nature shone through immediately, and I felt at ease in minutes. They arrived on time, and were very courteous and polite. During the car ride to our first destination (Mt Kilimanjaro Park), they allowed me to stop briefly and take some photos in a field of sunflowers.
Bujo asked about my other vacation plans, and then I proceeded to try to hire them as drivers the next day. Bujo offered to call my tour guide for details, and it was then he was informed that the guide wanted me to pay them extra for the tour I had already paid for online. Bujo was doing a hot springs tour the next day and offered to let me join, but I insisted that I wanted to do a day trip to Tarangire. So while we drove to Mt Kilimanjo Park, Bujo called around to all the tour operators he knew and got me on the tour I wanted for the next day! He then let me tether off his phone to cancel my booking with the previous operator (and took me to the new operator after the tour was completed so that I could pay for the tour).
When we arrived at Mt Kilimanjaro Park it was very cold! (I am from Trinidad and Tobago) I was wearing latex tights and a vest, even with my jacket on I was still very cold, this is just a note in case you are also used to a warm climate. This was very informative, and I learned about the first men to climb Kilimanjaro, as well as other facts about the mountain. After a tour of the park area, we went outside to the souvenir shop look around. Then my guides told me they would take me downtown after our tour to get souvenirs because these are pricey. This was a great tip because I wasn't sure of how things were supposed to cost.
Next stop was Kilasia Waterfall! This was a difficult hike downwards, mostly because the paths were not easy to walk on. However, I had one guide in front of me and one behind me, always ready to assist when needed. They also went at my pace which was great. I wore hike shoes with lots of grip, while Bujo was wearing dress shoes, however I was the one who slipped a few times, so perhaps how you experience this hike depends on how often you hike and where. When we got to the bottom, we got a view of the waterfall, unfortunately we were not able to cross the river and hike to the top of the fall because on this day the river was very rough and so it wouldn't have been safe to cross. The hike up was much more demanding than the way down. According to the guides, this hike was the equivalent of a day hike on Kili. When we made it back to the top, I had the opportunity to hold chameleons. (this is a service offered by some villagers, and they expect a tip).
The last tour stop would be the Chagga Village. Before we began we had lunch. It was quite a lot, and as hungry as I was, I was only able to eat a little bit. Our guide there was a young lady named Amy, very soft spoken and polite. At this point I was joined by three travelers from Holland who were on tour with another guide. We learned about the Chagga history and present situation with the Maasai, the Chagga houses, the Chagga caves, and how the Chaggas made coffee. I was able to participate in the grinding and sifting parts of the process of coffee making. We had a cup of coffee, chocolate, and biscuits. The coffee was amazing! You then had the option of purchasing coffee either grounded or the beans.
The tour officially ended at 4pm.
However, three things happened afterward. I really wanted to get sunflower seeds to take home. Bujo called around to see if he can locate them. We also passed by a local market to look for them. I was also taken to the location of my Tarangire tour operator. Finally, I was taken to "Muungano Makonde Arts & Carvings Tingatinga" to look for souvenirs. The guides were very helpful by informing me of good prices of items, and ensuring that the locals gave me proper prices, and change.
I had such an excellent experience with them this day. Their service was above and beyond, I could not believe it. I hired them to take me to the bus stop on the Tuesday. Bujo was my personal host while I was in Moshi, making many calls on my behalf to locals as needed and ensuring I got to where I needed to be safely. AND YES, I did get sunflowers, at no cost!
Finally, Bujo gave me an excellent tip which I must share: it is better to book directly through the local tour operators, rather than through online services.
I recommend doing any tours with these gentlemen!

wonderful experience
Bujo was super efficient in responding to queries, reassuring and extremely helpful in the planning stages. He was just as quick when we met him on arrival at airport .All accommodation out-shone our expectations. The Safari experience could not have been better. Mainly down to our guide and driver who seemed to instinctively know where to head to get the best views & was knowledgeable and enabled us to see The Big Five when many other people we encountered hadn’t.
This was our first visit to Africa and first safari. It all ran like clockwork and we truly felt cared for by Benson Safaris.
DO NOT HESITATE TO USE THEM. YOU WILL BE GLAD.

great experience
Our family tour with Bujo tours was amazing! We came in from New Zealand .We did a 6 Days safari and started at Lake Manyara. Spent a night at beautiful at Kilimamoja Lodge and then on to Ngrongoro Crater Conservation Area. Stopped at Olduvai Gorge as we headed up to Lake Masek on the Serengeti border. We enjoyed alot .our guide was driving to our tented lodge we saw a lot of new wildlife we hadn't seen in before at that point... wildebeests ,gazelles and some new birds. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and before we reached the camp he found a beautiful cheetah. The next day he found a male and 2 female lions. We were so close. The next day heading back to Ngorongoro Fantastic! Our trip down to the crater was also amazing. The wildlife was varied and plentiful. Our guide always seemed to get us to the right place at theright time to see the amazing wildlife and get great pics. He was so knowledgeable and just fun to spend time with.
I will definitely book my next trip to Tanzania with BUJO TOURS

Best tours with Bujo
We are very happy writing this review, our guide/driver Adam and our chef Juma took incredible care of us and showed us one of this planets most extraordinary bio mes. We did the 4day safari but added two additional days on the end and came back with hundreds upon hundreds of photos of every animal you could want to see and many we didn't even know about before we left. This safari is great for you if you want to rough it just a liiiiiittle bit so you feel like you are out in the natural world, but when you need a creature comfort like a shower you can have that too. The hotel at Arusha is nice and comfortable and on the flip side the camping in Tarangire and the Serengeti is a lot of fun and isn't dangerous. Basically if you have ever camped and enjoyed it you will enjoy this. We were well fed and the guys were very accommodating if we had a need or request and we were very safe. They wouldn't let you put yourself in danger were always there with helpful advice. Really if you want to go on safari but don't have $8k-$10k to throw around I highly recommend this one. You'll see everything you dreamed of seeing and the lodges. And since hotels aren't why you come to Tanzania, you won't miss them one bit.
THANK YOU BUJO...

Highly Recommend!! AMAZING!
My husband and I have just finished an adventure with Bujo Tours, another success completed. We completed 8 day safari (which includes balloon safari) and 4 days in Zanzibar. They have provided outstanding services throughout the journey, with good guides and well maintained vehicles.

KILIMANJARO CLIMBING WITH BUJO TOURS- OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE
We booked Kilimanjaro climb via Lemosho route with Bujo Tours mid-March and it was absolute brilliant experience.
From very beginning a sales guy that picked up our query Mr. Sweve was very informative, helpful and patient to one hundred questions we had, making sure that we are prepared for the hike. Actually initially we booked tour for Feb, however right at the departure (less than a day before the tour start) I had an issue with the passport and couldn’t board the plane - Bujo was very accommodating and postponed our tour by a month with no additional charge (thank you again!)
Upon arrival we were met in the airport and taken to the hotel.
The climb itself was very well organized - it was definitely luxurious experience
1. Our tent was so spacious - main compartment with bags storage on one side and large vestibule on the other where we had a table with chairs set up, so it felt very homey. Every day before you arrive to the camp, tents are set up, hot tea is waiting, just need to get the sleeping bags unrolled
2. Food was amazing. Very good quality, HUGE portions if you can finish it all and very good variety - fresh fruits and vegetable every day of the hike, protein and carbs for energy. We really enjoyed the food (thanks to our cook Zawadi) and all the attention (assistant cook Ema - very attentive!).
3. Porters carry most of the belongings that we have, so you just carry day pack around
4. Every morning and evening we got hot water bowls for cleaning up, so that was really nice touch
5. Most important of course - our guide Nas (and assistant guide Fred) was excellent. Very detailed briefings every day, clear plan for a day. We really liked the pace Living set - we definitely moved slower than other groups, but since you have the whole day to trek 4-6-10km, what’s the rush?? Loads of groups left first thing in the morning, rushed to the next camp and then sat in their tents all day. we comfortably woke up, had breakfast, took our time to walk at the speed that allowed to avoid altitude sickness (we had no issues at all throughout the whole trip) and enjoy the scenery, made it to the camp midday and had energy to do acclimatization hikes around. Not a race
6. Summit day is quite tiring mainly due to the fact that summit attack starts around midnight and we were not very well rested. Again, we took slower pace, it took us about 7.5hrs to summit, still - no issues with altitude at all, fantastic feeling with reaching the summit:)
All in all - the whole experience was perfect, no complains at all, would recommend Bujo Tours to anyone and if we ever can repeat the hike, would chose Bujo Tours again. Thank you very much to the whole team!!
