Great company with the best guide
5/5

Firstly I have to give 5 stars for our guide (Andrew) and chef (Moshi). I can say with confidence that they made the tour amazing. Moshi was so friendly, fun and most importantly made the best food for us. Andrew was well organised, provided so much info, was always smiling and engaging with the group and most importantly lead us to the animals and had some inhuman ability to spot so many animals while also driving that the rest of us often couldn’t even see with our eyes. We met other guides and spoke to other travelers about their guides and we got the feeling all were not equal so if you get the chance to go with Andrew, take it.

The company itself were good and easy to deal with, had decent vehicles and equipment so no complaints at all.

With the tour schedule, we did 4 days 3 nights. First day was about 7 hours driving to Serengeti however half of that was in various wildlife areas so you do see animals on the way. The afternoon was in the Serengeti although it is via a common route mainly for the benefit of getting to the camp. The camp was very basic, which we knew going into it, but was a great experience as animals roam the campsite at night as there are no fences. The next day was half day drive in Serengeti before heading off to Ngorongoro campsite which was about 5 hours (still seeing animals during the drive). Overall the Serengeti was okay but it’s so large and already out that we didn’t see that any animals and o would recommend having a full day there instead of what we did as you then go further and should see more. Also wet season should be avoided if possible as you see so many less animals- grass is too high and animals don’t congregate at watering holes. Day 3 at Ngorongoro was by far the best and the highlight for everyone. The crater itself is a view to behold but more importantly the quantity / density of animals, the fact they cant / don’t generally leave due to the crater walls, the flatness (easier to see animals) and the small size so easy to get around makes it perfect for wildlife spotting. It is relatively small though so 1 full day or a half day is all that is required. We then stayed in a decent lodge on our last night before visiting Tarangire NP for half day on day 4. I would say animal spotting was similar to Serengeti (probably not great for us due to it being wet season) but it’s still nice and has a great landscape which includes the large baobaba trees.

We were super lucky to see the big 5 during this trip with the most elusive, leopard, spotted once on our last day in Tarangire literally in the last 15 minutes as we were driving out.

Quick to answer, quality of service to accommodate, incredible experience for a solo traveller.
5/5

The 5 days trip in Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Tarangire was breathtaking. This was mostly thanks to the skilled driving of Jacobo and the amazing local food prepared by Salimu. We managed to see from up close many animals, way more than we expected including cheetahs, lions, buffalos, elephants and their respective cubs. We were told we were lucky to encounter some of them, even more multiple times. My take is that the mix of the skilled driving, knowledge of the quicker ways to go around and Jacobo network to have the news and sighting before any radio announcement made it possible.
I also took the opportunity to go for a one day trip to Materuni falls and experience homemade coffee making on the coffee tour with Fidelis. He was very helpful on any question I asked since he is originally from a city not far from the falls location. We even interacted in French on top of the usual English.
Big props to Meruslopes and Geofrey for their constant quick availability on any organizational topic ! If you want to have a real adventure experience, I cannot recommend better than them.

Professional
5/5

We booked a private safari tour, 7 days from Spain. Communication was always great so we weren't afraid at any moment, reliable company. Once we arrived to Arusha, a car was waiting for us even if our flight was delayed. From that point I'm out of words, this has been a wonderful experience. I want to say thanks specially to our guide, Mudy, if you have the opportunity to do this safari, ask always for him, he arrived everywhere! If there was anything to see, we were always there! Our chef Guideon was also an important part of our trip, our meals were wonderful and we were always happy with them, such a great team. Thanks for our journey, I hope you the best.

Well organisated, kind, disponible, perfect tour, hotel very nice
5/5

We had a really good time with Meru Slopes. Start from the organisation from our country. Jerome Hotti has been very disponible to answer all our question and make a plan for us. He was always replying for any question we had.
First day we did a visit of Arusha with Felicity and had a wonderful day. We ate in the street traditional tanzanian food and that was an amazing experience. His joy, smile and kindness has made a perfect day for us!
Then the safari!!! Much more better that we could imagine. We definitely recommend Douglas as the best guide ever!! His experience, driving skills and friendly behaviour has made of these 4 days a simple paradise. He told us about lot of things about nature, animals and Masaai culture. Always searching for the best spot for us and for making this experience unique! We strongly recommend Douglas as guide!

The hotel chosen were very good. We particularly appreciate the luxury camp in serengeti wich was an amazing experience.

So.. to summarize - thank you very much Meru Slopes to have make our dream come true and even better!
Asante Sana

Meru Slopes goes above and beyond
5/5

Meru Slopes was excellent to work with to set up my 5 day safari. I wanted to customize some aspects of my safari so had quite a few requests (specific start date, wanted to join a group despite being a solo traveler, upgraded lodging, etc) and emailed >10 different companies for quotes and options. Meru Slopes got back to me quickly and put together several different quotes and options based on what I was looking for. They were the only company who actually was able to make an itinerary that fit what I wanted and it ended up being very reasonably priced.

The safari itself was excellent. My guide was Salehe and he has been doing this for over a decade. His expertise is obvious - he helped out multiple other drivers when they got stuck but we never had any issues whatsoever with our car and I felt very safe and comfortable with his driving. We also were able to see all of the Big 5 along with countless other species. Salehe was the first guide to spot quite a few animals including two rhino in Ngorongoro Crater, which can be one of the harder animals to find. We got amazing pictures to the point where a random person sitting next to me on the plane ride home was in awe of my lion, giraffe, and elephant photos. Our chef Buga was also great and was able to easily accommodate one member of our group who was vegetarian while making delicious food for everyone.

I was able to pay for my safari with credit card the day before the trip started, which was important to me as I did not want to travel across the world with thousands of dollars in cash. Not all companies allow this; in fact a fellow traveler almost had to cancel his safari as he was unaware that his company only accepted cash.

I ended up having an extra full day at the end of my time in Tanzania and actually messaged the owner of Meru Slopes to set up a coffee/waterfall tour. He got back to me that same night and a guide was waiting for me at my hotel the next am at 7:30. Again, my guide Herman was fantastic - he was engaging and shared a lot about Tanzanian culture and day to day life that I hadn't learned. He also stopped and picked up street corn as well as getting local bananas for me to try. He helped me with some of the slippery spots on the waterfall hike and additionally brought my luggage into the airport for me.

Overall Meru Slopes went above and beyond with everything I asked for. Their guides were excellent at what they do and clearly some of the best in the business. I would not hesitate to use them again and plan to recommend Meru Slopes for any of my friends traveling to Tanzania in the future.

Great customer service We had an absolutely fabulous time
5/5

We had an absolutely fabulous time on our 5- day camping safari to Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangure. It was like visiting the Garden of Eden, especially in Ngorongoro crater, for the sheer quantity of animals and the lush surroundings. We had a bit of torrential rain, which only added to the adventure. But our tents held up well on the night of rain and we slept warm and dry. Sleeping bags and mattresses are provided.
Our driver Jacob and our cook Yohani went out of their way to find animals and keep us well fed with delicious meals.
The vehicle was great for viewing. Everyone had a seat by a window and could stand up to look out from under the raised roof.
I would definitely recommend Meru Slopes for your next safari. Communication was excellent before the trip and all questions answered promptly. They came to our hotel the day before the trip to explain everything and picked us up from our hotel on the day of safari.
Thank you for the great customer service and a big thank you to Jacob and Yohani for taking such good care of us!

100% recommend
5/5

We are extremely satisfied with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris from start to finish and can recommend the company without reservation. The 5-day camping safari far exceeded our expectations. A big thank you goes to our guide Patrick and our cook Buga, who prepared delicious vegetarian meals for us every day. They both did an excellent job and it was easy for us to say goodbye as they were extremely friendly and helpful. Thanks also to Geofrey for the uncomplicated cooperation and excellent service.

Unfortunately, the Maasai village disappointed us as the focus was on sales rather than the cultural experience. We recommend spending more time in nature rather than going there.

P.s Thank you so much for the wonderful moments you gave us.

Excellent Safari Experience
5/5

We did a four day safari tour with Meru Slopes Tours in January. We had an amazing time. We spent one day in Tarangire NP, two days in Serengeti NP and our final day in Ngorongoro Crater - it was absolutely fabulous. We saw many different animals and species and were so surprised to see how close the animals came to us.
Meru Slopes took care of all our travel and food and also transfers to and from the airport - we felt very safe and well looked after at all times.
Our driver Muddi was brilliant. He had so much knowledge of the beautiful areas we visited and shared alot of information with us about the many different animals and species. He was such a nice tour guide and was always so happy. He made sure that we enjoyed ourselves so much and was so determined for us to see the big 5 - which we did. Thanks for everything Muddi.
We would recommend Meru Slopes Tours and Muddi to look after any travellers for your Safari.

Helpful in every situation
5/5

Meru Slopes and our guide Mody ensured that we had a great time during the safari. We saw all big 5, especially due to the excellent knowledge of Mody. Also in a complicated medical situation Mody and the American Slopes team supported and helped to coordinate itinerary changes and made us feel safe. The chef Buga prepared amazing food (always too much) and his and Mudy’s friendliness and good mood completed our unique experience! Thank you so much for everything!!!
