Wonderful Safari Experience in Southern Tanzania.
We had Davis as our driver/guide for our safaris to Mikumi, Selous and Ruaha in 2009 and 2012. He is an exceptionally good guide and driver, and is willing to go just that bit further to make the safari a wonderful experience. He is Wahehe, so southern Tanzania is his homeland. His long experience guiding in the parks of the southern circuit gives him an intimate knowledge of the area and the animals. He is friendly and very accommodating which is essential when you are spending a couple of weeks together in the bush. Above all, I feel confident and secure with him and I look forward to our next safari.

Best safari imaginable
The trip I had in Tanzania guided by Davis Albert was easily my best holiday ever! The experience could not have been better for my family. My wife Andie and I had wondered how our 11 and 16 year-old daughters Ruby and Alice would take to long safaris – well, they immediately got into it and loved every minute!
We visited a wonderful mixture of places on driving safari in central/southern Tanzania. It was great to experience different kinds of place: bush camping by the river in the undulating woodlands of Selous Game Reserve, permanent tented camping at Stanley’s Kopjie in Mikumi National Park, the cool, green mountains of Udzungwa NP, and the waterholes and beautiful acacia and baobab woodland of Ruaha NP. Wildlife from the huge to the tiny was abundant throughout, and none of it could escape the incredibly sharp eyes of Davis! One second he would spot a highly camouflaged Verreaux’s eagle-owl nearby, the next instant he could pick out a speck on the horizon that would magically turn into a Greater Kudu or leopard. It was so great to be with someone whose astounding knowledge of the wildlife was matched by tireless efforts to share and explore with us. Davis was not only guide, but also cultural ambassador, Swahili coach, entertainer and all round wonderful company!
The diverse magic of the places we visited was really enhanced by being virtually the only people around, except the wonderful crew who cheerfully made sure that we had everything we wanted, and were safe and
comfortable. All the arrangements were smooth, at the right time and place, and we never had down-time caused by something not working. This made the trip effortless for us - a stark contrast to our usual camping
holidays. The days were punctuated with welcome experiences provided by someone else! Stopping under the branches of baobab and tamarind trees, an interesting packed lunch appearing apparently from nowhere. A cold drink would suddenly materialize by the campfire overlooking the river. A day on safari was followed by a warm shower in the ensuite section of the tent. And it was not just routine, but also special, thoughtful
provisions. We happened to mention that Alice was turning 16. Davis is extremely well-connected, with friends and relations apparently everywhere. That evening, courtesy of his cousin chef, a surprise birthday cake appeared labelled ‘Happy Birthday Alice’ with candles and accompanied by ‘Happy Birthday’ sung with Swahili accents.
It was with great regret that we left Davis to round out our extraordinary visit to Tanzania with a couple of days on the unique island of Zanzibar, from where we made a three-day visit to the incredible eco-tourist spot Chumbe Island. Home to the world’s largest invertebrate, the Coconut crab, Chumbe is a paradise of exciting snorkelling among turtles on the gorgeous reef, bright beaches, and a very charming crew of dedicated staff who care so excellently for the island and its visitors.
I can unhesitatingly give my highest recommendation for a trip with Davis and his team. Our complete confidence in him was totally justified. In the time it took to plan our adventure, we developed very high expectations: they were more than met – our safari (Swahili for journey) was even better than we had dreamed. We can’t wait to go back to Tanzania, to see Davis and Nyasi Adventure!

Ruaha National Park
Davies is a professional operator with a vast amount of experience, we thoroughly enjoyed his company, knowledge and top level of service. I have recommended him to many friends and am just waiting for the children to get a bit older before we go again.
Whilst Nyasi is a relatively new operator, you are guaranteed competitive prices with no compromise on the service as Davies has all the contacts and knowledge to provide you a top class Safari.
An unforgettable trip
In June 2014 my family and I had the best vacation ever. Our very cheerful and helpful driver/guide, Davis, took us to places more fascinating and beautiful than the other. For one week we went game watching in Selous, safariing in Mikumi, and hiking in the rainforrest in Udzungwa Mountains. Though the places were absolutely breathtaking, the people we met along the way made the trip even more special and we could not have asked for a better guide than Davis to show us the wonderful country of Tanzania. It was very inspiring to meet someone who truly loves he´s job as much as Davis seems to do. Every day her met met us with a huge smile and a joke up his sleeve! Tanzania is a beautiful country with beautiful nature and people, and we will definitely be back one day - but only if we can have Davis with us too!

Great adventure with a great team
Davis is an excellent guide that made my safari in Ruaha to be the best I have ever done. He is a very reliable person and capable of seeing a lot of animals and good at following foot prints (He once saw a totally hidden 1m long lizard in a tree while driving). I also stayed with Davis in a camp that he organized in the middle of the bush. It was very authentic and the cook and assistant he chose were great and helpful persons too. We had long and interesting discussions in the evening after dinner. My experience with Davis is 100% positive. I am looking forward to going back on safari with him.

Unforgettable experience and very welcoming staff
I have just returned from Tanzania and Zanzibar where i combined safari and relaxing all in the space of 10 days. The most exciting part was by far the safari and only wish i'd booked for longer. Even though it was only 3 days it was still long enough as we had a full itinery and they really do make sure they make the most of the experience. We had the friendliest guide called Davis who made us feel so welcome and has alot of knowledge about the safaris and the best places to find the Big 5. I would recommend this to anyone, you would have an excellent experience and well worth the money!

Unforgettable experience!
I went to Selous Game Reserve with a friend in September. At first we didn't know what to expect, because it was our first time in Africa and doing a safari was something new to us. We took the 3 day pack and stayed at Hippo Camp. I made reservations online, and everything went just as planned. From the very beggining we felt this was a great choice because we trusted on what we were booking. So, Davis picked us up in Dar es Salaam and we drove all the way to Selous. Since the moment we got on the jeep until the end of the trip, nothing but great things happened. We are VERY happy we met Davis. We were treated as family, we had an awesome cook that gave us delicious food every day. The people from Hippo camp were very friendly and took care of us all the time. We felt very happy and comfortable there. The safari experience was Great. We can't think of anything wrong about this trip, it was the best travel experience of our lives. Davis has a lot of experience, he could see the animals from a very very far distance, he showed us everything in detail, and also explained a lot of things to us about the animals, their behaviour, etc. We enjoyed this safari 100% and will never forget it. Next year we are going back definitely with Davis as a guide.

Davis, an incredible and recommended host!!
We booked the 3 day Selous Game Reserve ('Off the Beaten Track') Safari with Kanuth (However, our guide was Davis - who runs and owns Nyasi Adventure - therefore we want to review this company too) and were not disappointed whatsoever. From the moment we were collected from our Guesthouse, to the moment we returned, we had a fantastic time with Davis, and our cook, Mariam.
We were picked up early on the first day, and driven into the centre of Dar to pick up Mariam (our cook) and some supplies. We then headed out of the mayhem of Dar (a relief for us) onto the roads to take us into the Selous Game Reserve. We stopped for lunch, and a quick snack and toilet stop too. After a bumpy few hours (as the road conditions change, including the type of soil - which makes a lot of difference!) we arrived at the Hippo Camp. We checked into our hut, which was plenty big enough, clean and had a good view over the river. After checking in, we waited for other guests from other companies, who were also staying at Hippo Camp, to arrive and get ready for our river Safari.
This part of the Safari was great. We got to see Hippos, Crocodiles, Kingfishers, Stalks, Monkeys and Yellow Weaver Birds (plus probably more that I can't remember unfortunately). We had the chance to get close to three bloats of Hippos whilst the sun was setting. This was pretty special. Our boat guide gave us a fantastic insight into the river animals, and was able to answer all of our questions.
Back at Camp we had a nice meal with Davis, before retiring to our comfy bed. The next day we went into the Game Reserve. Just before the entrance, we spotted two Giraffes in an open air strip. Our first Safari animals, our favourite Safari animals! The first time you see these animals in the wild, it is a unique and fantastic feeling; something which you never get from a zoo, or enclosed animal parks. In the Game Reserve we saw countless Impalas, Crocodiles, Warthogs, more Giraffes, Zebras, Hippos, Gnus, Vultures, and Monkeys. We also saw some 'Umbrella Birds', which we could watch for hours, providing us with much entertainment as they hunt for small fish.
We were warned we'd be lucky to see Elephants and Lions, given the poaching that occurs on the other side of the river at Selous. However, we were blessed by seeing two Elephant herds and three prides of Lions. One pride of which had not been seen in a region of the Reserve since 2008!! And they had cubs!! The Elephants wandered lazily through the Savannah, one herd had a calf with them, and an adult Elephant wasn't too impressed with us following it after a while! With the Lions, we were able to watch two prides with earlier kills.
The final day of our trip was spent being shown around the Hippo Camp by a former local poacher and tribesman. His insight and knowledge to the local flora and fauna was impressive and captivating. He told us about how many people worship the Baobab tree, and how they copy the lifestyle of the Colobus Monkeys. After this, we set back to Dar, stopping again for some lunch and a toilet break before we hit the nightmarish traffic of Dar (oh how we did not miss Dar whilst on Safari).
Overall, an amazing experience that we will never, ever forget, in part due to the animals we saw, but also in part due to the fantastic hospitality and welcoming nature of Davis, Mariam and everyone at Hippo Camp.
Many, many thanks Davis!! And good luck with this new adventure for you, we hope to see you in the future!
