Excellent work
We just finished our 5D4N Mt Kenya hike today (21 Sep) organised by Duncan and his wonderful team. We started planning this trip in mid July and was in discussions with Duncan via WhatsApp since then. Duncan is quick in responding all my queries.
We started the hike on 17 Sep where Duncan picked us up from our hotel in Nairobi. After about 3 hours drive, we arrived at Chogoria town for lunch and met up with the crew members (our guide Patrick, our cook Juma, and five porters). Throughout the hike, our cook prepared more than sufficient food to ensure we have enough energy to complete our daily trek. Patrick also assisted my wife by carrying her day bag so that she can enjoy her hike with higher success of making to the summit. We made it to the summit on 20 September and the views up there were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend potential visitors planning a trip to climb Mt Kenya to contact Duncan.

Well organised and really helpful
Duncan's communication was on point, keeping me informed and answering all my questions. The porters, guides and chef were all really helpful, and they all had an amazing understanding of the nature on the mountain. The chef made some excellent food and was understanding of me being vegetarian and catered accordingly. The guides were brilliant, and answered any questions I had about the surrounding wildlife. Duncan was super helpful in dropping me back at the train station in Nairobi and picking me up from my hotel too. Overall, it was a great experience!

Well organized, experienced and responsive
Duncan from the Equatorial Star Adventure Safaris was very responsive and informative in all our e-mail messaging. The trip was well organized and because Duncan knew we were interested in plants, he selected a guide, Patrick, who was very knowledgeable about plants of Mount Kenya NP. Thanks Patrick!!
Overall, the trip was well planned and we appreciated a certain level of flexibility and itinerary changes related to our fitness level. We definitely recommend ESAS to all travelers interested in exploring Mount Kenya National Park.

An unforgettable climb
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Mount Kenya climb with Equatorial Star. A friend and I did the 5 day climb in February and had an amazing time. We organised everything over WhatsApp in advance with Duncan, who replied quickly to all our questions and provided us with a comprehensive list of equipment that we needed.
The actual climb itself went very smoothly, Patrick was an excellent guide and the rest of the team were very friendly and helpful. We were well looked after and the food was both good and plentiful, thanks to Juma. The actual climb was amazing. I would recommend the up Chogoria and down Sirimon route that Patrick took us on. The scenery was breathtaking. Patrick got the pacing spot on, making sure we avoided altitude sickness, but then making sure that we were the first people to the top on summit day, meaning we had the peak to ourselves before any other climbers arrived. An unforgettable experience.
Thank you to Patrick, Juma, Benson, Sam, Paul and Julius!
We hope to be back to climb Kilimanjaro with Equitorial Star at some point in the future.

The real heros
Climbing Mount Kenya with Duncan, Jumaa, and their team was incredible. They knew so much about the mountain and made me feel safe. Duncan led well, and Jumaa was always friendly, making the tough parts easier.
Their team was great, setting up camp and making food, so I could enjoy the climb. They cared about me and helped me reach the top.
I loved climbing with them and would recommend them to anyone. They made my trip special and fun.

Excellent operator and team for my trip to Mount Kenya
The best experience in my life!
I want to recommend Equitorial Star Adventure Safaris to all of you. I asked for 3 quotes and chose Equitorial Star because it provide the lowest price and I heard that it is established by experienced guides living around Mount Kenya. It was proved that I am sensible, since it provide superior level of service.
Duncan, who got in touch with me and took me from Nairobi to Mount Kenya, is always there to help me, even when I had a problem with Uber after the trip. As a single traveller, they arranged a guide, two porters and a cook for me. It surprised me that they brought so many nacessities to guarantee my comfort on the mountain, even a soft mattress in the tent.
I enjoyed to climb with my guide Patrick, he had extensive knowledge about the mountain, its creatures and medicine, which guarantee your personal safety at high altitude. Besides, he also introduced his life in mountain region, and his attitude towards life, which I am very eager to learn about.
Also want to thank my cook Juma, porters Julius and Samuel. They work hard and they are very kind to me. They are expert at packaging and cooking. You cannot imagine how many things they can put in their backpack. We do not have kitchen on the mountain, but it was the best food I had in Kenya.
Miss so much and hope to go back to meet them in the future again😭
Amazing experience
Just finished a 5 day hike to the summit of Mount Kenya in Kenya.
It was organized by Equitorial Star adventure & safaris, a Nairobi based company. Its owner Mr. Duncan has been truly amazing in organizing this hike. From first quick response to always communicating in a timely manner to picking me up at the airport and organizing the 4 person crew accommodation me up to the summit safety, Mr. Duncan and his company has been nothing but inspiring and helpful.
The hike itself was conducted in a safe and considered way where head guide Juma always looked out for his crew and I.
Safety first.
Sam the cook dished up some delicious local meals, Paul and Ben always was helpful and eager to help out when needed like setting up tent and bring hot tea.
Overall I can highly recommend booking any kind of tours with Equitorial Star adventure & safaris.
10 out off 10.
Thank you for an awesome trip.

Unforgettable adventure with 5 days hike in Mount Kenya!
We embarked on our adventure with Dunkan, our exceptional trip planner, a whole year in advance, and the experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. From the initial booking to the culmination of our journey, Dunkan has been a consummate professional, addressing all our queries promptly and making the entire process perfect.
Dunkan and his team redefine hospitality, embodying the essence of service-mindedness and friendliness. Their genuine passion for crafting unparalleled experiences for their customers shines through at every interaction.
Our tour crew, comprised of a knowledgeable guide, Patrick, an excellent cook, Tuma, and four diligent porters, added an extra layer of excellence to our adventure. Patrick not only had a wealth of information about wildlife, flowers, stones, and plants but also went above and beyond by waking up early to spot Buffalo in the nature, ensuring we didn't miss out on the wildlife spectacle. His strategic timing for our summit allowed us to witness a breathtaking sunrise, being the first on the top that morning—an incredible and thoughtful touch to our journey. A comment here is that there were many groups hiking that morning that didn’t see the sunrise due to their guides lack of preparation. I would say that the sunrise is very important for the total impression of the mountain and that Patrick is the guy if you want to be guaranteed the magnificent sunrise on Mount Kenya!
Tuma, the culinary maestro, treated us to a culinary journey with diverse and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (both starter and main course). From African porridge and fresh fruit to a variety of fish, chicken, and pork dishes, every meal was a delightful surprise. The service extended to us was outstanding, with warm water and soap provided before each meal, emphasizing their commitment to hygiene. They even prepared our water daily, ensuring it was ready for consumption during our hikes and meals.
Dunkan, as the organizer, was not just a driver but a storyteller, making our journey from our hotel in Nairobi an unforgettable part of the adventure. His attention to detail and dedication to providing the best service truly set the tone for an exceptional trip.
In conclusion, Dunkan and his team have not just orchestrated a trip; they've created an immersive, delightful experience that exceeded all expectations. Their commitment to customer satisfaction and meticulous planning, along with the warm and personalized service, make them the go-to choice for any travel enthusiast. I would HIGHLY recommend them!
