Grazzrootz is knowledgeable, flexible and delivers
Uganda is not a cheap destination. You get a lot of value for your money though!
Grassrootz listens to what you are looking for, and provides you with a custom trip that matches this exactly. Sander is easy to talk to, responds quickly to all of your questions and gives great advice on the itinerary. He takes away all of the stress of organising a trip!
We went on a three week tour with David. He was very knowledgeable (the country, the parks, the animals, the hotels, the road and even politics!). David is friendly, polite and has great sense of humour. He's an excellent spotter as well! During the trip David helped to arrange the things we were looking for, such as a specific ranger that was good with birds, or to try some local food.
Most of the hotels were as we expected, with just a few feeling a bit dated (but we did confirm these accommodations when we booked).
Highly recommended.

Topnotch for travel in Africa
Visiting Uganda was an important point on our African bucket list and our fifth visit to the continent. As a family of 3 we traveled for 17 days, visiting most of the countries highlights. The number of exclamation marks and positive descriptions would fill this page and would be totally unnecessary - just go, don't miss it. Uganda is different w.r.t. the other countries we have visited (SA, NAM, BOT, TZ, ZIM). In comparison, tourism infrastructure and standards are still developing. So at times you still need a Hakuna Matata attitude. As for our tour we were glad we booked with an experienced tour operator like Grassrootz and did not do it as a self drive (as in NAM and BOT). Grassrootz, that is Sander initially, and especially Paul, our driver-guide, kept things going very smoothly and efficient. All the usual admin hassle (e.g. choice of great lodges- Turaco Treetops excellent!, activities and park permits) and other travel issues (e.g. navigating the car through Kampala traffic, long driving hours) which tend to taint the experience, were taken care of. Our special thanks goes out to Paul for being a real master at his profession: positive attitude, knowledgeable, humorous, sensitive to client needs (Germans tend to be difficult at times), good driving/spotting etc. and always on top of things. To sum it up: Anytime again with Paul and Sander/Grassrootz.

Amazing, helpful, safe, informative
I did a three day tour with grassrootz in uganda to see the gorrillas! They were absolutely amazing. My tour guides Lamson and Nelco were so sweet, helpful, full of knowledge and great friends! I'm still in contact with then! I booked it with Sanderson and he helped me every step of the way, including what to wear, essential things to bring, had everything arranged all I had to do is get off the plane and everything was organised to perfection for me! The whole team were amazing! I will definitely be returning to uganda and using this company in the future to see what else uganda has to offer! Made the whole trip so enjoyable when I didn't have to worry about a thing! Thank you sooo much for all your help!

The full experience has been amazing! I highly recommend
From day 1 until the end, the experience has been perfect!
Sander was very responsive and helped us tailor the perfect safari tour and adjusted the lodging to our preferences.
When we arrived , we met with Amos that picked us up at the hotel with the truck! He has not only been an excellent driver and guide, but he systematically made the extra mile to create a unique experience, suggesting special activities or providing good advices.
His experience shows, he knows everyone on the field and he is very respected. With his soft and humble approach, he managed efficiently any little hiccup during the journey and always succeeded in securing special treatments for us (boat tours, gorilla trek, etc.) so we were always best placed or having exclusive experiences. He was super pro and very friendly. We all ended up with a new friend in Uganda!
We will definitely recommend Grassrootz to anyone wanting a unique experience in Uganda !

Excellent tour from beginning to end!
Working with Grassrootz was a pleasure. Sander was knowledgeable and responsive. He was communicative and would always get back to us in a day or two. He was also flexible and was able to change our dates as needed.
The tour itself was amazing! Each park we visited was host to all the incredible animals- elephants, giraffes, monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas, Antelope, birds, hippos, rhinos, lions, leopards, etc. Absolutely wonderful! Our guide was a superb driver and always knew the best places to look for the animals. It was a great experience!

Wonderful trip, my highlight of East Africa
I had a 3 day stay in Uganda to trek Gorillas and Sander was very helpful organising trip and advising points of interest on route to Bwindi. He even gave a packing list which was very useful!
From the minute I landed my guides Lamson and Nelco made me feel welcome, safe and entertained. They were full of local knowledge and there was never a dull moment! They liased with gorilla trek guide to anticipate how long hike would take and arranged a community walk when we returned (would highly recommend doing this if going to Uganda, Bwindi in particular) Trip ran very smoothly and we also visited Equater line and lake Victoria. So happy I chose Grassrootz as my first stop in East Africa, 3 days was just long enough to realise I could have spent much longer there! I have already recommended this company to friends who are interested in same trip.
One thing to consider is small notes for tips. Everything included in grassrootz but you may want to tip gorilla guide/ porters/ leave donation if visiting local school ect. Grassrootz also work with local charities if bringing clothes/ school supplies/ medicine ect

fantastic tour operator
We've just had a fly in Gorilla trek with Grassrootz. It was first organised before the lockdown, so had to be postponed for 2 years. Sander, our contact at Grassrootz, was brilliant, and held the tour until we could travel again. Everything he arranged was perfect, down to the accommodation and the transfers. His communication was excellent, and we have no hesitation recommending him.

Uganda 12 days with Grassrootz = a fabulous adventure!!
First game drive and an unforgettable experience. Our BOB driver was perfect. The lodges lived up to our expectations, and in particular with a vegetarian or even vegan option. Everything was perfectly organized and always with the aim of making us discover as many things as possible and that our trip be the best. To recommend 200%, thank you again for this experience and the discovery of this very beautiful country

Unforgettable experience in Rwanda and Uganda
My friend and I recently completed an 18 day private trip through Rwanda and Uganda with Grassrootz and would highly recommend them. Zander planned a very thorough trip, including a wide mix of parks, scenery and cultural activities. Our driver/guide Barnice was excellent and tried to make the whole experience interesting, educational and fun. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He was fantastic at spotting wildlife and we saw lots of birds and animals, including the big 5. The highlights of our trip though was seeing the amazing mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda, the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest NP and the golden monkeys in the Volcanoes NP in Rwanda. The lodges and camps we stayed in were mid range and all had electricity and hot water; some even had swimming pools! The staff at all these places were very friendly and helpful. We travelled quite a distance in the 18 days, over some dreadful roads and always felt safe due to the care and professionalism of Barnice. His attention to detail helped make our trip a wonderful success. Thank you Barnice and Grassrootz!
