Exhausting but really special and once in a lifetime.
It was all what I expected and even more. It was one of the most beautiful experience of my life. Although, we had to hurry a bit at the last part. Maybe that was a little annoying.

Interesting, educational, eventful however there is always room for improvement.
The Safari itself was very nice, having spotted several different types of animals (including a leopard). This left with us seeing much of Uganda's natural environment, particularly also spending our time in an amazing campsite where animals would literally walk around our tent. However, we were there to help the rangers with keeping the park clean which was not organised or taken seriously, which was obviously a disappointment. However, everything else was planned nicely and I am overall very happy with our trip.

very educational and structured throughout the whole tour.
Overall, I really liked the whole experience. The instructors were very clear in their explanations and so made the tour very educational and interesting. Also the places we stayed at during the safari were very well chosen and made the trip even nicer than it already was.

Enthusiastic guide and journey
Coming to Uganda for the first time, I had no idea what to expect, especially with a large group. From the moment we met our guide, he was very informative about the different areas we traveled through and eager to answer any questions we had. On the safari tour there were many opportunities to see different animals which I had never seen before. Our guide in the bus was also very educated about the lives of the animals, and we took many pictures along the way. This trip definitely lived up to my expectations, and I feel like I had a really authentic Uganda experience.

Useful and educational safari tour
The safari tour was good however I would have preffered to see more wildlife specifically big cats.

Attentive and professional
We are an older couple visiting our son and his family who live and work in Kampala. We will be here for several months so we expect to take several short excursions around Uganda while we’re here. I researched tour companies, selected what I believed to be the five best suited to provide what we wanted, and I contacted them, asking for itinerary proposals. Of the five Grassrootz was by far the most responsive and professional, and their representative here in Kampala, Anne, provided us with exactly what we wanted at a very competitive price. Although they were not the least expensive, I felt they were definitely the most professional, and I was confident in my choice.
Our first excursion included my wife and me plus our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. We did a five day trip to Murchison Falls with Moses as our driver and guide. We were booked at the Murchison River Lodge which we found to be adequate to our needs, but not luxurious. It was quite acceptable. During our stay we did two game drives, a guided game walk, river cruises both upstream to the falls and downstream to the delta, and a drive to the top of the falls.
Although we were very happy with Grassrootz overall I have given them only four stars instead of five for what we felt was one shortcoming in their service. It is true that due to Covid 19 tourism in Uganda has been severely impacted, and lodges and services are only now recovering. As a result we felt that Grassrootz was not quite on top of the situation existing at Murchison Falls which impacted our overall experience. Highway and bridge construction through the park has seriously limited access to the game tracks north of the river, and the river is at perpetual flood stage due to a disastrous water management project. Bridge construction combined with discontinuation of ferry service due to flooding severely limited our ability to do game drives at optimal times as our lodge was on the south bank of the river. The flooding of the river has not only closed the hiking trail from the base to the top of the falls, but it has completely drowned the delta causing much of the birdlife that was there to relocate. I will reserve comment on these joint Chinese/Ugandan projects other than to say that I fear for the future of the park. In any case, I believe Grassrootz should have been more aware of the situation at Murchison, and they should have provided us with this information ahead of time.
In spite of this I continue to have confidence in Anne, and I look forward to working with her in planning more short excursions in Uganda during our prolonged stay. She has already given us a proposal for a trip to Lake Mburo and Kibale which we expect to do next. I believe Grassrootz is a five star operation with quality people, so I will continue to utilize their services, and I will write off our experience at Murchison Falls as just one more casualty of the Covid pandemic.

Mar-Apr 13 day / 12 night Ugandan experience
My wife and I recently returned from a 13 day / 12 night Uganda safari covering Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Albert, Kibale Forest National Park, Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Lake Mburo National Park. The trip incorporated the chimpanzee, gorilla and lion trekking options as well as cruises on the Nile, the Kazinga Channel and Lake Mburo. We chose Grassrootz Adventures for their professionalism and responsiveness to our research and enquiries; being our first trip to Africa and on a constrained schedule because of work commitments, we wanted to make the most of our time in-country and Sander and his team did not disappoint.
We were impressed by Sander’s quick and detailed response to our enquiries, and his availability to take international phone calls to discuss final arrangements. We spent some time in e-mail correspondence and phone calls discussing and confirming options such as tour duration, alternative accommodation and optional activities. Sander was always receptive and was very attentive to responding to all enquiries and confirming information.
Our guide and driver, Bob Magezi, ensured that everything ran smoothly and was very knowledgeable about wildlife and back roads that took us off the beaten track, showing us village and rural areas that on other tours would have missed. His relationships with other tour guides, rangers, and accommodation staff were excellent and greatly facilitated our journey. He quickly sorted a discrepancy in our respective itineraries to facilitate our visit to Lake Mburo, which we’re sure he had to call in a couple of favours and arranged for our COVID tests for our return journey when we arrived back in Entebbe.
The accommodations we stayed at were generally very good and apart from some hot water issues and one venue that was obviously undergoing some improvement renovations, we were comfortable. The staff everywhere were excellent, and we can’t endorse their attentiveness and hospitality enough. The food was always deliciously exceptional, and a rolex makes a great packed lunch.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our unique visit to Uganda with its beautiful terrain, incredible wildlife and very friendly people.
