Great first 9-day round trip in Uganda
5/5

We decided to use Grassrootz for our very last minute trip to Uganda. Turned out it was one of the best decisions!

Sander from Grassrootz quickly worked out our round trip plan for 9 days. Price was very reasonable.
He was responsive, professional and efficient. And he was very, very patient with my 3 million questions, and always provided solid answers.
He managed to get the lodges and gorilla trekking permit as I wanted within 2 days!!
David Otto, our guide and driver, earned our hearts and respect right away.
He is a Great driver and seems to know every road to every hotel and every national park!!!
He respected our privacy.
About Covid precautions, David did a better job then most people. He always wore a mask and changed to a new one everyday and constantly desinfected his hands.
He was fresh and sharp everyday, and he was also flexible with the changes we requested in the plan.

We saw all the animals we wanted and are grateful to have learnt Ugandan people and culture.

We are happy about the tour, and we are happier to have known Sander and David.

Unforgettable 14 days in Uganda
5/5

We booked a 14 day safari tour with Grassrootz Uganda and all our expectations were met or even exceeded!

During the planning phase the communication with Sander worked very well and at the end we received a tailor made, detailed itinerary nicely prepared on the internet.

Our destinations: Start in Entebbe and then, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Northern Queen Elizabeth National Park, Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mutanda, Lake Mburo National Park.
It was a completely successful tour with highlights every day and our driver/guide Moses was always helpful, friendly and competent.

I can fully recommend Grassrootz. We got a great trip for a fair price!

Perfect operator, in a fantastic country with fantastic people
5/5

For some time now we have been considering a trip to Uganda, especially to see the mountain gorillas. We asked a couple of operators for a travel proposal. Sander van Zanten's proposal corresponded exactly with our wishes, whereby you notice that Sander knows Uganda well.

Our 17 day tour included almost the entire safari circuit from Kidepo in the north, to Murchison, Kibale, Queen Elisabeth, Lake Mburo and of course Bwindi. We booked premium lodges, which almost all met our expectations. Comfort, care and meals excellent.

Our driver and guide turned out to be a more than excellent companion, who, without GPS, guided us flawlessly through Uganda. Small inconveniences were immediately solved, but especially his relaxed character is exactly what you need during such a trip.

Besides the very varied national parks, which all have their own character, the people of Uganda made a deep impression on us. The country therefore has a lot of potential to grow further.

Contrary to Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda is not yet overrun by tourists and therefore offers an authentic travel experience. We saw a cheetah-hunt and lion-hunt with us as the only witnesses....

We warmly recommend Sander and driver Bob.

Professional personal prompt perfect service.
5/5

From the initial inquiry to subsequent correspondence, Sander was quick to reply. When I gave him my budget for a 10 day package, he ensured I saw & did what I wanted to & I do not think I was short changed on anything such as excursions, food, safaris & accommodations.
Our tour guide & driver, Emmy, far exceeded my expectations. As a matter a fact, he was the icing on the cake. I would give my entire experience with Grassrootz more than 5 stars if I could.

The Pearl of AFRICA
5/5

Uganda 2020,
What a wonderful 22 days 21 nights trip true the pearl of Africa organized by Zander from Grasrootz Adventure Uganda! Normally we would prefer to organize our trips by our self but for our first time to Africa we decided to get in contact with Grassrootz and after a short phone call we quickly decided that this would be the perfect agency to work with!

Sander and Moses our guide did a wonderful job. Before our departure to Uganda we had lots of contact with zander about our trip to personalize it as good as possible. (good to know we booked the Budget trip to Uganda) After receiving a few different schedules we confirmed our trip and we were good to go.

We started the first day in Entebbe in our guesthouse and started from there our trip to the breath-taking mountain gorillas.(what’s totally worth the permit price!) which was followed by a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park to see our first elephants and lions, a 3 day trek true one of the most beautiful mountains of the world ‘the Rwenzori mountains’ witch was one of the highlights of our trip.

After a long drive we arrived in Murchison falls where we saw lots of animals and especially many birds flying around. And as a cherry on a pie we had a boat trip over the Nile and hiked to the top of the falls to see the million litres of water running true the rocks as once thought to be the source of the Nile! And after this national park we travelled 12 hours to the north-east to Kidepo valley national park. This is all what U expect from Africa. It was for us the most beautiful national park. The wide stretched savanna’s with the biggest herds of buffalo’s in Uganda and lots of critical endangered vultures to see gave us Goosebumps and makes U feel part of nature again.
We ended our trip by driving to the south-east with a few stop overs at local tribes to see their habits and way of living it was quite interesting to see the difference with our western life! After 2 days of traveling with a night in Moroto we arrived in the Sipi to visit the famous falls and do the interesting coffee tour provided by the son of a coffee farmer. Its quite an experience to see how dedicated these people are to grow one of the best coffee’s in the world.

After this area we spend 2 days in Jinja to relax close to the Nile to recover from our busy but wonderful trip with Grassrootz. And although we booked a budget tour it felt like a trip in heaven with perfect chosen lodges with felt FAR from budged with extraordinary meals and amazing people.

Sander u did an amazing job, thank u very much for this experience!

Excellent organized. We enjoyed the beautiful different green landscapes and way of live.
5/5

We have seen a lot of the nature and the way of live in Oeganda. Our driver Bruce, was very helpfull and kind. He listend to ouw wishesand came back to it. He found a solution for everything and told many facts about costums and nature, which gave the trip an extra dimension.
We saw so many animals during the game drives. We stood face to face withbuffalo, leopards en klimbing lions. We could almost touch the giraffes during the walking safari. Standing in the 4 x4 , with pen roof, we had a wide vieuw, of the landscape and could spot the animals well, with a nice breeze on our face.
The people of Oeganda are very friendly and open. Teh accommodation was great and the food was good.
We heartily recommend a trip with Grasshootz.

Uganda Safari
5/5

Zander put together an excellent safari (7 days 6 nights) to add on to a visit with our daughter who is teaching in Jinja.

Moses our driver met us at the school and drove us to 3 different lodges. We went to Murchinson Falls National Park and loved the Murchison River Lodge directly on the Nile. Having hippos wander the grounds at night is quite amazing. Do take the extra hike to the top of the falls. It is strenuous but worth the prize.

Then a long drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. Zander recommended a 3 night stay which was the correct call after the long drive. Kipedo is stunning and was not crowded at all. Worth the long drive to see a different type of park and more of the Ugandan countryside and villages. Spent 3 hours sitting on the porch at Kidepo Savannah Lodge using binoculars to watch elephants cross into the park from South Sudan in the distance. Not something everyone can say they have done!! We enjoyed the game drives particularly the afternoon drive which had us out for sunset. The walking safari with a Kidepo park ranger was a highlight. Incredible to be walking through the grass with antelopes, giraffe, zebra, buffalo and warthogs all around.

Finally a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Amuka Lodge. Hard to describe what it is like to be only 20 yards from a rhino in the wild with only some brush separating us from 3 rhinos.

Our driver Moses did a great job, always explained our day, reminded us when to get packed lunches from the lodges and answered questions as they came up. He dropped us off at Entebbe Airport with plenty of time to catch our flight.

Unforgettable Uganda adventure with the family!
5/5

We were looking for a professional, reliable and affordable party who could help us to organize a family private tour of Uganda. After some research on the internet I came in contact with Sander van Zanten from Grassrootz. He turned out to be the perfect partner and Uganda expert for us! We could easily make our wishes and demands known and in no time Sander proposed a wonderful 8-day Uganda adventure. Exactly what we were looking for and in line with our budget. It was arranged quickly and top.
From July 27 to August 3, 2019, we discovered Uganda as a family. And all this under the guidance of the fantastic driver and guide Bob. How nice it was for us to have such an experienced, calm and professional guide. From the start we felt like five of us at home with Bob in the 4WD Toyota Van and he definitely contributed a lot to our travel pleasure. So always ask for Bob when you book a Uganda trip through Grassrootz!
We especially wanted to gain the 'jungle experience' in Uganda, knowing that we would then go to the savannas of Tanzania. The adventure tour therefore went from Kibale Forest, to Southern Queen Elizabeth Park, via Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Lake Mburo National Park. Unbelievable, the richness of flora and fauna that we have seen, indescribable actually. We wanted to stay in comfortable budget lodges, surrounded by nature. This was also a big hit, with Dave the Cave Ecolodge (Queen Elizabeth) and Broadbill Forest Camp (Bwindi) as top accommodations.
What I found particularly cool about Uganda is that the country has almost everything in terms of flora and fauna, a lot is still untouched and the people are so open, pure and optimistic. Tanzania may be (more) famous for, among other things, the Serengeti and the large amount of wildlife, but because of the growing tourism you will notice that you are seen more as a 'walking wallet' and in Uganda this is definitely not the case. Also in Uganda we have seen a lot of wildlife up close, without a crowd of jeeps around you. We also did a Chimp trek in peace, sailed through the swamp and spotted birds in the jungle and you rarely saw other tourists around you. Unique experiences! Due to the young age of the children we did not do a Gorilla trekking but I can tell from experience that Uganda (and Grassrootz) has much more to offer than this famous attraction.
All in all, thanks to Sander and Bob, Grassrootz has given us, as a family, an unforgettable Uganda adventure. I would like to recommend Sander and Grassrootz to tailor your Uganda trip and ask for Bob as a guide/driver. Success guaranteed!
And ..... if you have any doubts between the well-known Tanzania / Kenya or the relatively unknown Uganda ?: GO UGANDA! The Green Pearl of Africa!
