excellent tour operator, who listens to your wishes!
Communications were great, via email en telephone. Sander organized our trip very well.
It's a beautiful country, we saw so much. It's by far the most beautiful country we've ever been.
Paul our driver and guide was very nice to be with. He's a safe driver and a good guide and spotter of wild life!

Fast, professional organized; trip of a lifetime !
Best vacation ever…
Grassrootz Adventures Uganda. I highly recommend them for your trip to Africa. We had the best vacation ever!
We’ve taken a lot of wonderful trips but this one is by far our best vacation ever! I must give Sander van Zanten huge credits for that. Sander listened well to our wishes and understood what we wanted and then developed the trip of a lifetime for us! Thank you so much!!!
Before we went we received very professional assistance and advices from Sander of Grassrootz so we were well prepared.
The best thing Sander did for us was to appoint Bob Magezi as our guide. I know, more people write that their guide was great and did the extra mile, not Bob, he did 10 extra.
His knowledge of Uganda, culture, politics, the birds, the plants and of course of all the animals…impressive! His relationship with locals, other guides, rangers and anyone we met, he seems to know them and everyone loves him. Bob always made sure that we saw what we wanted and made us feel like VIP with the best places and best view. I highly recommend Bob Magezi.
Besides his professional knowledge and perfect driving skills, he is great to be with, we had so much fun together and were sorry to say goodbye to a good friend.
In 11 days we visited Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (where we walked between the rhinos!), Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo National Park.
We went on foot safari, did river cruises, slept in the most wonderful accommodations, met the friendliest people, enjoyed local food and drinks, went through a variety of different habitats like mountains, tropical rainforest, woodland, freshwater lakes, swamps and savanna and of course were blown away by all the beautiful and impressive animals we met : lions, leopards, chimps, rhinos, crocs, hippos, impalas, giraffes, elephants, buffalos, kobs, many different kind of monkeys and so many more.
If you ever decide to go to Uganda, choose Grassrootz, Sander will build you the itinerary of your wishes and if you ask for Bob Magezi, you will have the trip of your life!

best organization and personal care
We enjoyed our 3 weeks adventure with Grassrootz very much. It was well prepared, intense, inspiring, impressively, sometimes overwhelming!
With David, our driver and guide we had a sensitive person, which has not only all the necessary knowledge of the country, the people and the nature, but also perfect ability to drive even the most difficult roads. He was highly sensible to all our wishes and needs and helpfull whenever needed.
We liked his view of the country, his respectfull treatening of everything, starting by the nature, the animals, children, people on the road and last but not least us as customers. He hat a extraordinary patience with his us and handled difficult situations quiet and solutions-oriented. We can recommend David and Grassrootz unlimited with the highest scores.
Thanks for this unforgettable adventure.

Excellent Safari Tour Operator
I highly recommend Grassrootz for safaris in East Africa. I could not have asked for a better experience. They know the place very well and listen to your wishes and can thus create an unique experience. Very professional organization and planning if the trip by Sander with lots of attention to details - you are well taken care of before you arrive and he is constantly making sure everything runs smoothly. Well chosen lodged and travel itinerary. Great back office support by Anna who is always approachable and quick to find solutions. And a best of class tour guide Emma. Very knowledgeable un flora and fauna and the local history and culture. Fun to travel with. Excellent driver. He also has great personal relationships with the locals you will meet and makes this more than a safari but a cultural experience. Grassrootz is the only company I will consider for future travel in the region. I put my complete trust in them to create a perfect experience on your vacation as well.

above all: authentic friendly, hospitable and flexible and also making your stay worth.
Uganda was a completely unknown country for us to go, we were never in the middle of Africa before. It was nice to be with a local who was there for you and who also liked being your guide and talk with you about the country and all other stuff that might come up. The tour was well organized and when we changed our mind about seeing something else it was no problem to adjust the schedule. Before leaving and during the trip it was easy possible to contact the tour operator with worries about some events (ebola in west-uganda at that time) and we felt comforted after contact. So in one word: TOP!

Very special holiday in Uganda organized by Grassrootz
We very much enjoyed our special holiday in Uganda organized by Grassrootz. There was a varied program of safaris by car, boat and on foot. In between we enjoyed the car trips throughout a beautiful country with a big variety of landscapes. The Uganda people are very friendly and show great hospitality without being intrusive. The organization by Grassrootz was excellent, and the guide told us a lot about the country, customs and history. The accommodation and food, at our chosen service level, were of good quality. All in all highly recommended!

Perfect touroperator in an amazing country!
Three weeks optimally enjoyed many facets in this versatile country. From the hectics in Kampala to quad driving and rafting near Jinja, next to the Nile. Furthermore, we visited tribes in their traditional living environment, saw the most beautiful wildlife parks and went into the jungle to spot chimpanzees + gorillas. It was one big party!
Also the varied accommodations contributed to this, but especially our guide/driver David. His knowledge of business, sense of humor and warm personality we'll Always remember.

No need to look further to find the right tour operator
After I contacted 7 tour operators it was very easy to decide for Grassrootz. Sanders promptness in response, his professionalism and tour layouts spoke for themselves. I am a professional tour guide myself and made my expectations quite clear. We did our 21 day tour with BOB MAGEZI. We couldn't have had a better guide. Bob is an excellent driver and guide with a profound knowledge of Uganda and a deep love for all its parks and wildlife. He doesn't hesitate to go the extra mile and if there are special sightings (like leopards or lions) in a park, he will know it. We started as clients and departed as friends and this trip will always have a very special place in our heart. This tour outmatched all our expectations. I strongly recommend to opt for a longer tour option. It is worth the money and will make the trip unforgettable. Sometimes transfers are long and activities are demanding. Having at times the possibility of a half day rest, allows you to recover, appreciate the beautiful settings of the lodges and let the impressions sink in. Like this you don't finish your tour tired and you can enjoy it to the fullest. In 21 days we visited 7 parks; Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary(Rhino safari walk), Kidepo (wonderful game drives), Murchison Falls (wonderful game drives, boat cruises and hiking to the falls), Kibale Forest (crater lake hike, community walk, chimpanzee habituation experience), Queen Elisabeth (including the channel boat cruise, tour with the lion tracking team and Ishasha with its amazing tree climbing lions and leopards!) Bwindi Impenetrable forest (of course with the fantastic Gorilla tracking experience, but also the beautiful Golden Monkey trekking) and we ended the trip at Lake Mburu. We've met some tourists who did the primate tours in Uganda and were then heading off for safaris in Tanzania or Kenia. There is no need to do that. Uganda has blown us away with its beautiful National Parks, full of diversity and overwhelming amount of wildlife. This country has it all. Thank you again Grassrootz (Sander) and Bob!!

Nice contact, helpful and good prepaid.
It was a really cool experience, nice country and lovely people.
And my guide and driver Paul was also the perfect man for my trip. We had a lot of fun and he knowes many interesting facts about the areas, people and everything else I was asking for.
My highlight of the journey was the gorilla tracking - amazing!
Thanks for all the impressions and adventures.

3 week guided Safari Uganda including 1 week in Kidepo
The general planning process was highly individual and amazing. It was easy to include everybody and their wishes into the schedule.
The trip went great, we kept (in my eyes) unexpectatly well to the tight schedule and had a lot of luck with animal sightings and weather conditions. Our guides were well organized and provided an amazing experience.
Thanks a lot to Sander and the rest of the Grassrootz Family.
