Responsive, Reliable, and Friendly
I booked a private safari (4 days, 3 nights) for a group of nine people with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. The Managing Director, Paul, was very clear and responsive when it came to the quotation and booking. This really put us at ease. When we landed in Arusha to begin our safari, we were greeted with smiles by Paul and the two Driver/Guides, Edwin and Justin. The next four days were amazing, and exceeded our expectations. The guides, who spoke fluent English, handled the roads well in well-maintained vehicles, were knowledgeable about what we were seeing, and were open to our questions and requests. The accommodation was fantastic, including the food, and did their best with some dietary restrictions. I wouldn't hesitate to book again with or recommend Tanzania Roadside Expeditions.

Roadside Expeditions gave us a great time for a great value.
We did a 9-day tour including a safari and time in Zanzibar. It was the perfect amount of time for us to experience what Tanzania had to offer. Booking was easy, and all our questions were answered. It was so nice to have everything taken care of so we could just enjoy ourselves. Our safari driver, Justin, was wonderful! He was super knowledgeable and amazing at spotting animals (not to mention, great at handling the Land Cruiser)! We saw so many incredible animals. All of our accomodations were comfortable with helpful staff. Paul, our coordinator was also extremely helpful and on top of things. There were a few mix-ups at our final destination in Zanzibar but the resort was able to set things straight. All-in-all it was a good value for the price.

My best birthday
I had already made up my mind to have my 70th birthday in safari in Africa. I wanted to see all those animals so right place would be Serengeti in Tazania. We had a big party of nine and chose Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. We very a bit anxious about the safari but that turned out to be vain. Already in the Arusha airport we had a very good reception and we found out that we had made the right choice about the safari company. We had two cars and excellent drivers to both. Edwin drove our car and besides all the driving and animal lookout he knows the birds very fine. Justin was driving the other car and he was also very good. Paul is running the company and he was very effective with us. He even arranged two birthday parties fo me, so the first one was during the breakfast and the other in the evening during the dinner. He really made the day unforgettable. All the accomodations was very good from Arusha to Segentegi and we saw lots of animals. We were even lucky to see the big migration. So I can recommed the Tanzania Roadside Expeditons. We had a wonderful experience with them.

Well managed, friendly operation
Excellent communications and advice from Paul, and a pleasure to sit with him and discuss final details on arrival at Arusha.
Straightforward pickup from Kilimanjaro Airport and delivery to locaL hotel.
Excellent game drives through Manyara and Tarangire, including sightings of leopard and forest elephants.
Outstanding day in Ngorongoro Crater, so much life including a lion pestering a black rhino.
Tioma Lodge was a beautifully situated hotel in a forest in the hills with excellent food and friendly staff.
I thought a reasonable price for the trip.
We'd book with them again.

Amazing 6-day safari lead by a knowledgeable & friendly guide!
First off, Paul was an amazing contact to have as we were choosing and booking safaris. He was very accommodating and attentive to many questions we had. The hotels we booked were nice, but we did notice that if the hotel isn't very full, you do order off a menu. We thought they all had buffets. I have a gluten allergy, and some places were more accommodating that others. Dinner was easy to accommodate, but most packed-lunches were subpar, just filled with fruit. I would suggest being more vocal and specific about any needs or requests.
Our guide, James, was great the whole trip! He was extremely knowledgeable and amazing at spotting the animals. We always felt comfortable on the road with him, and he answered every single one of our questions! We saw EVERY animal possible, including all of the Big Five. James made sure that we made it over to any big event or rare animal. We were able to see the wildebeest migration too!
I highly recommend Tanzania Roadside Expeditions!!

Serengeti / Ngorongoro / Tarangire / Lake Manyara private safari
We had an amazing time in the Serengeti / Ngorongoro / Tarangire / Lake Manyara for our private safari in November 2019. Tanzania Roadside Expeditions was very responsive at all times and organized everything very well. The accomodations were very good, especially our camp in the middle of the Serengeti, which was a perfect location. Our guide was amazing - knowledgeable, super friendly, helpful and fun! Highly recommended and hope to be back soon. Thank you!

A journey to paradise
My friends and I decided to visit Tanzania during the month of November 2019. We started researching on the tour advisors in early June and picked the Tanzania Roadside Expedition considering all the reviews. We reached out to Paul and obtained a quote for the trip. Since then, we have constantly bugged Paul with changes, requests and questions. Paul was very patient with our questions and accommodated all our requests. We made certain changes to the itinerary and also got a revised reduced fee quote from Paul.
We reached Arusha and were promptly greeted by an agent from the Tanzania Roadside Expedition. He drove us to Arusha to our stay where we met Paul. Paul was very informative and ensured that he briefed us well specifying all the dos and don’ts. The arrangements were well done and our every need was catered to. We covered Ngorongoro Crater, Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti and Masai Mara. During our journey from Ngorongoro to Serengeti, we stopped at a Masai village to get an experience of the Masai culture. We travelled around in land cruiser. Our vehicles (in Tanzania and Kenya) had rangers radio which our guides used to communicate with other guides to discuss animal sightings. We also carried lunch boxes everyday (great food for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians).
James was our driver/tour guide for 6 days in Tanzania and Peter for 2 days in Kenya.
James comes with 15 years of experience in the field. He was very informative, knowledgeable and professional. He brought in his experience to our trip which made it not just interesting, but also successful. We got to see many varieties of animals and birds. James could spot some miles away even without a binoculars. He could name all species with ease. He was also very familiar with the areas and thus knew where he could find good sightings. The best thing about James was that he was an environment friendly person. We could see his love and respect for nature during our trip. We had such a good time with James that we made a friend for life. We will surely return to spend more time in Tanzania with James.
Peter was very expressive. He had friends all over the place. He was talkative and always kept us entertained. He was our lucky charm. We got to see fights between two lion prides, saw the oldest Lion (Scarface), collaboration of 5 Cheetahs, a Cheetah with 7 cubs and quite a few leopard sightings which was very rare. Peter was very casual and fun to interact with. Though we spent only 2 days with Peter, we got very comfortable around him.
Overall, it was an amazing trip. We were sad to come back. But looking forward for our next trip with Tanzania Roadside Expedition.

Best safari ever!!
I decided at the last moment to go on a safari in Tanzania( 1 month in advance). Tanzania Roadside Expeditions had all great reviews and had the best prices. One of the best decisions I have ever made. From my initial contact with Paul Justine the owner I knew I would be in good hands. He answered all my questions immediately. I picked a 6 person/5 day joining safari because of the cost. I knew I couldn’t afford it by myself. Paul was there to meet me at the hotel as soon as I arrived with one of his drivers. He sat me down and explained that the rest of my group had to cancel at the last minute due to a death in their family. He told me he would still take me as a solo client. I know Paul lost a lot of money in hotel costs, hiring a driver, gas, wear and tear on the Jeep, park fees.. etc. but he honored our agreement ( I hadn’t even paid him yet). It turned out to be the greatest trip of my life! My driver Elly was exceptional! He also became my personal photographer, breakfast and dinner companion and good friend. One day he knew I wasn’t feeling well and he changed our itinerary of visiting a Maasai Village to the next day. He made certain we saw the Big 5 and waited patiently for me to take thousands of pics of zebras and giraffes! He was amazing!! I also want to give a shout out to Ezekiel, the man who picked me up at the airport on arrival and also brought me back to the airport at 2:30 am for my flight home. What a kind man. These 3 men made a solo female traveler from New York feel very special and made my life long dream of an African Safari a reality! I highly recommend them!!

Just great. Would choose them again.
In summary the experience was great.
The days before booking we were not convienced about how the process works. Do we pay by bank transfer (can be risky), credit card (the rates are expensive, but provides security). After reading a bit about how it works, we went on with the sensible option of going about it as we would go about it in a European or "Western country". We used Transferwise for the money transfers. We paid a 20% advance to book everything and the remaining 80% a week later. Everything went smoothly, we had prompt replies from Paul, reassuring us that everything was fine.
On arrival to Kilimanjaro a driver was there waiting for and took us to our hotel. The hotel was as expected. So far, so good. The next we met our Safari driver, Bryceson, and headed off!
That simple. Bryceson was awesome, we had an amazing time and we owe most of it to him. He took us to amazing known - for the guides - places, but he always did the extra mile and took us to more off-the-beaten-track spots (while never doing anything unsafe).
I won't comment more on the safari itself - do it it's an amazing experience.
About Roadsize Expeditions, they get a 10/10 from here, definitely booking with them when I do it again.
About the mixed Tented Lodge / Tented camp experience: I think it was exactly the right balance. The tented camps were a bit more of an adventure (but that was the reason we were there after all), the tented lodges were splendit.
A little comment about lodges, go for the Tanganyika Wilderness Camp owned ones. We stayed Maramboi, Mara Kati Kati and Lahia. Staff were super friendly, food was great (like fresh... really fresh!) and facilities are awesome.

The best! Hands down.
Look no further! This is the safari tour package you NEED to book. I had absolutely no idea what to expect; I have traveled quite a bit throughout Europe and US however was not quite sure what to expect traveling to Tanzania. Whatever expectations I had were BLOWN AWAY! From the start, Paul was receptive, informative, fair and quick to respond. Any/all questions were quickly eased by Paul who made this entire transaction (scheduling, payment, pick-up, drop-off, etc) as simple as it could get. To make things exceptionally more comforting, Paul was just as receptive when I arrived as he was simply providing quotes. Moving on to the guide (very important as they will be with you 24/7 on the trip; driving, eating and sleeping at the same lodges with you). Our guide was Ezekiel, a 29 year old self described conservationist who couldn't be any more passionate about being a guide. Ezekiel happily answered my relentless bombardment of questions and did so with a big smile every time! We really clicked on the trip and enjoyed spending every moment with Ezekiel! This is the tour guide to use; I couldn't be any happier with our experience and would recommend them to anyone, of all ages. What an experience! Special recognition to both Paul and Ezekiel!!
