Excellent communications, expert guide, always gave full confidence and delivered.
We selected Roadside based on its reviews and the flexibility of it's itineraries. We did our searching and booking from the UK, as we wanted to engage with a local business directly rather tan through an international hotel or tour operator. Everything went very smoothly.
In the end we did a four day / three night trip taking in Tarangire National Park, Serengeti and NgoroNgoro crater. Really pleased we did as each offer something very different in terms of landscape and animal life. Roadside organised all of our transfers and flights (we started and ended at two different places on Zanzibar), and also stored luggage for us that we didn't need for the safari.
Our guide was excellent (Ibrahim) an expert not just on the wildlife and landscapes, but the country, traditions, politics and other areas too. We learned loads about Tanzania. He was always upbeat and lively and became part of our family group for the duration of the tour.
Overnight stays were authentic and the staff in each place very welcoming and friendly. Food plentiful and decent and comfortable accommodations.
Our safaris didn't disappoint, we clocked up well over 50 distinct different animals and birds as we toured around, including all the main ones you'd expect.
All in all we give Roadside 10/10 from booking enquiries to dropping off for our flight to leave.

Experience because of experience
Fantastic pre safari communication from Paul the CEO. He also came to meet us in Arusha at the end and it was great to hear and see how a local entrepreneur is challenging the more capitalised big operators.
The safari was brilliant - we have been to SA Malawi Bots Zim Zak Moz on safari and Walter our guide was as knowledgeable and experienced as anyone we’d met before. He was ex A&K and been guiding for over 20 years. Walter took us on the less chaotic paths away from the big crowds in both the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. This meant we had better sightings with fewer vehicles and once watched a cheetah mother with her five cubs on our own. He also managed to get us a sighting of the illusive Black Rhino!!! I would heartily recommend using this firm as they know the local ground and will show you a more authentic Tanzania. Some of the other firms like Tanzania Specialist and Savannah Explorers don’t try to find any sightings themselves rather they drive as fast as they can to find the next group of jeeps to find out what they are looking at resulting in overcrowding and noisy and busy sightings and their guides are clearly less experienced and understanding of being part of nature as opposed to interfering with it. If you want to see Tanzania I’d always use Tanzania Roadside Expeditions.

Awesome
We were assisted by Paul to plan and help make all the arrangements including hotels. Our safari guide Idris was very professional and amazing as well. We saw the big five and a lot more. My kids really enjoyed the holiday.

EVERYTHING was Perfect, Well Organized, Professional and simply AMAZING!
Do not hesitate to book with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. The service and value were excellent. We planned a private 8-day Luxury Safari/Zanzibar beach holiday for 4 and EVERYTHING was perfect. They are so organized and have everything down to a science. Our Safari guide Justin was simply the best with an eye for spotting the "BIG CATS" He made our safari memorable and was so much fun to safari with. We saw everything including the Big 5! OMG the Cheetahs! From the beginning Paul was a great communicator answering all our questions (and we had a lot) while planning our adventure. He was quick to respond and was accommodating making changes to our itinerary, especially when the airline moves your flights. The people of Tanzania were so friendly and so accommodating. We felt safe the whole time, never a worry or concern. You won't be sorry booking with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions!

Exceptional
I cannot speak more highly about this Expedition. I went to a tour spanning 3 locations Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar over 9 days.
I honestly had everything covered. Paul is an excellent manager who was available 24/7 from a year prior to the safari (when we first booked it) until the last day as we flew back.
The team was OUTSTANDING we felt safe, and taken care of at all times and all accomodations were unbelievably well priced
Thank you so Much
I would recommend our game drivers who were exceptional

Tanzania Roadside Expeditions provides a safari experience that is both adventurous and energizing
We visited Tanzania on our honeymoon in August of 2023. It was high tourist season, but that did not stop Tanzania Roadside Expeditions from showing us a great time. We split our trip in half, spent half of it on a safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro, and then spent the other half in Zanzibar. It was a truly once in a lifetime experience. Paul Justine took care of all of the logistics for us, even allowing us to add some customizations to our trip, and made sure that we knew of the entire plan as well as what to bring in regards to packing far in advance of us traveling to TZ. He also had staff that took great care of us and were super friendly in both Arusha and in Zanzibar. In addition, our driver, George, was fantastic - getting us close to the animals, but also ensuring we were safe. We also learned so much about Tanzania as a country from him, as well as so much about the animals. We also saw the ENTIRE African Big 5 on our trip - and really enjoyed the safari days. Would absolutely recommend taking another trip to TZ or Kenya and using this company - they will make sure you are well taken care of!

Outstanding service and attention to detail.
This was the most amazing experience, transfers and puck ups were very smooth and timely,
Wonderful scenery and the animals in thier natural habitat is a sight to behold!
Accommodation was beautiful with the most friendly, helpful staff.
Highlight for me was the serengeti game drive and the Ngorangora crater, simply no words to describe the beauty.
And...I seen the big five!

Amazing 3 day safari trip
Had the most amazing safari trip.
Paul was incredible at every point of organising our trip and was always quick to respond and easy to communicate with.
All aspects of the trip went smoothly and both of our safari guides were very knowledgeable and made the trip extra special.
We were very lucky to see the big 5 within 2 days and also a host of other animals.
We wish we had chosen to do the longer safari and gone to the Serengeti as well. We will absolutely be back to visit the Serengeti in the future with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions.
Thanks so much to Paul, Ezekiel and Justin for everything!
Milly

The best tour operator in Tanzania
My husband and I went to Tanzania in June 2023 with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions and this trip was the best trip we have ever taken in our entire lives. We visited so many national parks and saw more wildlife than I thought we would see. Our tour guide, Ali, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. Please if you are looking for a tour guide operator, look no further. They will ensure you have the best trip of your life. Thank you!!

A Dream Come True
I have dreamt of going on an African Safari since I was a teenager. My experience with Tanzania Roadside Expeditions fulfilled my dream and expectations! My husband was not as excited to go as I was, but after experiencing the 6 nights and 7 days in Tanzania, he thought it was Amazing, too!
Communicating with Paul to select tour options was informative, timely, and easy. We highly recommend our driver/tour guide Ezekiel! He is a good driver (which you need on the Safari roads) plus has a positive and easy going attitude. (We talked to other people on Safari with other companies and they were not happy with their guides. They actually asked Ezekiel for his card.)
Our tour included 1 night in Arusha, 1 night at Elewana Tarangire Treetops Lodge, 2 nights at Four Seasons Safari Lodge, and 2 nights at Neptune Ngorongoro Lodge. Highly recommend all the lodges. We went late June. The weather was perfect. Not too hot.
We saw so many animals: families of elephants, cheetah mom playing with her 3 cubs, cheetah hunt a gazelle in seconds, 4 lionesses hunting a warthog (the warthog got away!), leopard hiding in a tree, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, variety of antelopes, black rhinoceros, hippos, crocodiles, baboons & more. Amazing terrains: desert, rainforest, crater, and lake. We loved the hot air balloon ride & bush breakfast (it's expensive, but worth it, a once-in-a-lifetime experience).
I hope to return to Tanzania to have my son experience this amazing adventure. He couldn't get off work, but hopefully we will return and we will definitely work with Ezekiel & Paul again!
Things I had wondered: open jeep versus closed jeep with open canopy. There is a lot of dust & we drove from each lodge. I'm happy we had the closed jeep with canopy. The dust was probably half as bad in a closed jeep than in an open jeep & we had the option to stand which we did a lot of the time. We never felt like we missed out experiencing the animals in the closed jeep. You can open the side windows and the lions walk right beneath/beside us.
(PS I wanted to use a local tour group so the money stayed in Tanzania. We were very worried about being scammed. We were so relieved everything was legitimate and then awesome on top of that. I told them to use us as a reference, if people were worried like we were)
Hi to Ezekiel & Paul! I sure hope we get to come again! Take care, Vickie & Bill :-)
