Safari experience at the highest professional level
5/5

I am a travel agent, and I came with a small group.
Already from the initial engagement with Paul and Ole, I knew that I had come to the right place and persons.
The planning of the trip was accompanied by professionalism, reliability, availability, high service awareness, and reasonable prices in relation to the return.
The entire trip was designed for the smallest details, just as important as the big ones.
From the moment that we landed in Kilimanjaro Airport , in the reception hall, getting to know the people behind the emails and the WhatsApp conversations, I knew I'd "landed Into the right hands".
Now, let's go to James the wonderful guide.
Wow, wow, wow.... how knowledgeable.
So much knowledge, with all the willingness to share with others.
We were enthralled and thirsty for all the information he had given us. And when it comes with a smile, passion and dedication to your occupation - there is no falls, just a perfect profit for the traveler.
Thank you all for a great experience, and I'm already planning the next group.

Professional and experienced safari guiding
5/5

Without much prior information except for some email exchanges with Paul, we decided to book our 6-days safari tour with Tanzania Roadside expeditions because of their flexibility to accommodate our exact wishes (we are a family of four with two teenage sons and hence different interests and wishes...) and at a reasonable price. The tour company choice turned out to be a lucky strike. Being driven and guided around for six days by James was a pure pleasure. Our trip included the national parks of Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Lake Manyara with one night in KatiKati tent camp in Serengeti. We saw all animals one can wish for including two leopards, three cheetahs and one serval cat. We also made a day tour to Lake Eyasi where we visited the Hazebe tribe -which we would really recommend as it is an extraordinary experience!
Our driver and guide James turned out to be an extremely dedicated and experienced tour guide and a very pleasant person to travel with. If requested, he will share a wealth of knowledge about Tanzanian nature and society and our journey to Tanzania would not have been at all as memorable had we not met and gotten to know James.
Being very pleased with the six-days safari, we decided to let Tanzania Roadside Expeditions also arrange guided tours in Zanzibar for us and one day of trekking on Kilimanjaro. These arrangements also worked out very well. We would without hesitation recommend James and Tanzania Roadside Expeditions to anyone looking for a memorable visit to Tanzania!

Great safari experience more than our expectation...
5/5

We have great moments and memories about our first safari tour in Tanzania. Our tour guide performance from arrival to departure was excellent. Paul is sharing with us all information requested on time. Our safari guide Emanuel was perfect to manage all arrangements and he is very good on driving and sharing with us all information about the natural life of all parks as well. We were successful to see all Wild 5 animals and many others as well. Thanks for all effort spent during our safari tour and highly recommended tour whoever interested.

Personal service and excellent safari - go for it!
5/5

Went on safari in early January and was very satisfied with the arrangements. We travelled as a family, my husband and four children, and I had booked everything from home. We arrived to Arusha after five days at Zanzibar and we were picked up by Paul, the owner of Tanzania Roadside Expedition. He took us to our hotel and then stayed with us in the afternoon, taking us to a good lunch place and showing us where to shop. After that we had a meeting with our guide James to discuss the safari and possible changes to the safari to be able to catch sight of as many animals as possible. Later in the evening, Paul and James took us to a great local BBQ place. It was great and so nice of them to set aside all this time and effort to make us feel welcome to Arusha. Early next morning we set off on our safari with James. James was very knowledgable and a truly good guy to have around and with interesting views on Tanzania and all that this country has to offer. Our safari was pretty compact - only three days - but still we managed to see so much!! It was just awesome! We even saw a rhino twice in Ngorongoro. The only set back was that the first days jeep ride was a bit too long (from Arusha to Ndute area). My advice is that if you want to go all the way to Ndute or Serengeti you should have at the very least four days. My personal favorite was however Tarangire park and all the elephants (we did Ndute, Ngorongoro and Tarangire in 3 days). During the booking procedure (I started the booking 10 months before take off) I had extensive email conversations with Paul, who always was very prompt in replying and explaining to me. Conclusively, I truly recommend Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. Just go - you will not regret it!

The manager as well as the guide have been very very friendly, professional, all was excellent.
5/5

From first contact to the company "Tanzania Roadside Expeditions" their answers to our questions came fast and accurate.
At arrival at the Lodge they gave us a good welcome and explained quickly how we´´´ will proceed. More details followed in the evening.
The manager as well as the guide made an excellent job, all arrangements have been followed, and even more then that. They always have been very friendly, answered all of the many questions of our sons about the wildlife in Tanzania (believe us, it has been many questions).
We spend a good time together with the guide, who joined us for 4 days. It was a great time.

Trip of a lifetime, the best experience in Ngorongoro crater
5/5

Tanzania Roadside Expeditions was a fantastic choice. After contacting them with our very specific request (a single day+night to Ngorongoro crater), we were given a full itinerary for the day, options for what we wanted to see and where we wanted to stay and more.

Upon arrival, we were picked up from the airport, driven to our hotel in Arusha and told the schedule for the next day. Boxed meals were arranged for, and we set off early the next morning to the crater. Our guide, James, was incredibly experienced, well spoken and we could not have asked for a better guide. We spent the day in the crater and James explained to us stories and the backgrounds of each animal. With his perseverance, we were able to see lions within a couple of meters of the vehicle, elephants literal steps away and new animals around every corner. In the evening, we were taken to the Serena Hotel Lodge which overlooks the crater to unwind for the day.

Throughout the journey, James was very considerate and knowledgeable making stops at the best places for souvenirs, currency exchange and even to take pictures by Lake Manyara.

Our experience was fantastic and we can't recommend it enough.

A very special holiday, made to feel even more special by Roadside's care and consideration
5/5

Booking a safari for the whole family is a considerable investment and you want to be sure that it will all be worth it. Initially we looked for an agency based at home (Holland), but after continual issues, we were lucky enough to come across Tanzania Roadside Expeditions. Paul's knowledge and attention to detail meant that any hiccups that cropped up were smoothed away with barely any impact on us. He organised the perfect itinerary, readily tweaking it if we had any special wishes or requirements.
Once on safari, we were lucky enough to have James as our guide/driver. When you're thrown together with a stranger for over a week, it could be a difficult situation, but James readily made us feel very welcome. As a guide, he had an exceptional breadth of knowledge and was readily able to answer all our questions (and with 3 kids with us, there were lots of questions!). As a driver, he was also fantastic; we felt very safe with him, despite driving conditions that were often "challenging", to say the least. And as a person, James is a truly nice guy to spend time with, and we hope to meet him again on our next visit.
All in all, we were truly fortunate to find Tanzania Roadside to organise our holiday. I would heartily recommend them to anyone and everyone!

WONDERFUL Experience with Tanzania Roadsite
5/5

We first got in contact via mail and later I was in contact with Paul directly via Whatsapp, which is a very convenient way of clarifying all issues.

It was our first safari so we did not have any experience. Many suggestions and possibilities (e.g. when it comes to the different national parks and accomodations) were explained before by Paul.
From the beginning everything felt very professional and friendly.

After all we decided to book a private safari.
Paul picked us up at Kilimanjaro airport and brought us to the first hotel in Arusha.
Conversation was very kind, friendly and interesting from the beginning.

Next morning we met our guide Idrisa and took off to the Tarangire national park, which was about a three our drive from Arusha.
Some words about the car: It was a Toyota Land Cruiser in very good condition. We had sockets to charge phones, cameras etc. and a fridge in the back for storage of water / drinks.

Idrisa was a very good guide and explained everything about the unique features of each national park before entering.
In the park he explained further details about the different animals and was always able to answer questions - plus he had a very good eye when it comes to spotting animals.

Some information about the route summed up:
First day Tarangire - after that crossing Ngorongoro conservation area going to Serengeti - two days in Serengeti - after that one day Ngorongoro Crater. In total 5 nights and a mix of lodges and tented camps.

In conclusion we were really happy with how everything went and can highly recommend Tanzania Roadsite and also our guide Idrisa in particular!
