Be aware of last minute surprises and disappointment, as a disappointing start and a sad end.
The company maybe good, so long as they give you their dedicated tour guides.
We felt we were duped, in that the dedicated driver was changed the morning of the start of the tour, resulting in a late start. The replacement guide (who later confirmed he was freelance and not with the company) seemed like he was dragged out of bed and tired throughout the day. He was a nice guide, but we felt like things were rushed. There was no debrief at the star and or cautions during the drive. This was particularly important when a deep ravine was attempted to cross requiring a sharp decline. No warning was given, which sadly resulted in the wife falling from the roof vantage point and damaging her ribs and arm. The Serengeti was an awesome place, but sadly the promise of seeing the migration by the tour company was just a hype to get us to sign up with them as no attempt was made to try and view the migration, which sadly was told by a guide from a different company that the package/days would not allow for such a drive. The camps were ok but in need of maintenance, especially one where the hot water was not functioning, resulting in a bucket and electric kettle being provided. The last day was the biggest disappointment as it was Ngorongoro crater and home to the Rhino, which sadly, after repeated requests to try and find the Rhino, was never attempted and the day was wasted by killing time driving, stopping for 5 minutes, driving stopping etc. Then to our shock and horror, the trip was cut short by 40 minutes and we were rushed off to the airport without any further game drive.

Great people & a lovely adventure!
My husband and I travelled last-minute (literally 3 days before departure) and communication with the Shemeji office was very fast and organized, even if not super accommodating. Once in Tanzania, we had a great experience with the local Operations Manager, Fidelis, who proved to be very helpful and ready to sort out quickly and happily all of our requests.
Who made our safari an excellent one, though, was our guide and driver — Edward. We think Edward’s best quality is to be excellent at reading your needs and immediately adapting and satisfying them. Whatever you need or feel like, make sure to tell him, and he’ll make it happen — want to see a certain animal? He’ll make sure to get you there. Need a slower day but still taking advantage of your safari? Hakuna matata, he’ll give you his best suggestions and you’ll tailor your day. This on top of being very knowledgeable about flora, fauna, and local culture, and having great driving skills (which you’ll need considering how much time you’ll spend in the jeep).
We chose the “comfort” version of our package, and accommodations were very nice, would have been perfect if we had had hot water in all 3 of the lodges (we did in 2). That being said, staff was WONDERFUL, and always made sure to give you an amazing stay — special shout-out to the Africa Safari Ikoma staff, especially Daniel, who ensured we had the time of our lives and unforgettable memories in Serengeti.
Therefore, overall quality-price ratio of our 6-day experience was very good. Animals and views were amazing, but the people are who made the difference!

Shemeji made my dream come true!
My family and I have done a 10 days Safari around the different NP in North of Tanzanie and I have to say it has been fantastic! 10/10.
The itinerary Shemeji proposes is excellent. Going to Lake Natron was an incredible experience.
First of all, thank you very much Anna and Emma for your help preparing our tour and always offering me different options.
We wanted to do game drives but also a few walks. We did four of them and it was really good.
1- Arusha National Park which was fantastic we saw the Giraffes very close. It was amazing!
2- Walked at Ngorongoro Crater + nature walk. Great experience. We saw an Elephant 20 meters from us.
3- Walked at Lake Natron, with an excellent guide called Mr. Lebanguti Moson. Highly recommended to visit the waterfalls and the flamingos.
4- We did a tour in Mto wa Bwu with Emmanuel on the bike and walked to the top of the montain with views to the Lake Manyara. Really nice too. Our daughter cooked some rice in a traditional way and afterwards we ate really nice local food, visited the local market and a banana plantation. Wonderful time!
All the Lodges in which we stayed were fantastic. The food excellent! The car (4X4) was very comfortable.
I would like to give a special mention to our tour guide / driver DAVID. He has been amazing during those 10 days:
- Very professional .
- Very punctual
- Knows a lot about animals
- Very educated, and respectful, discreet
- He drove very peacefully, and save ( I was a little bit worried of the driving in Tanzania).
- Our car broke twice but David always found very good solutions/ alternatives so we took it as an adventure...
- He always looked after us.
He's great! We wish him all the best.
Thank you to Shemeji and see you next time.

Very professional and easy to contact.
We enjoyed the Safari tremendously!! It was better than we had expected. Adam was a wonderful guide who is incredibly knowledgeable and responsible. We felt ever so safe in his hands as he had it all under control all the time. We loved every place we went. Every day was full of adventure. We even enjoyed the long hours of off road driving as the jeep was very comfortable.
Adam was a great companion. I would strongly recommend him as a driver and a guide. He proved to have a great experience in spotting the animals and sharing his extensive knowledge with us. There was no question he could not answer! Very impressive.
The hotels were perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Very comfortable and with a very strong local feel. The food was good too. The best thing for me personally was the fact that the beds were super comfortable as I suffer from lower backache and I'm quite sensitive. I slept better than a sleeping lion!
In parks we saw plenty of wild animals: zebras, giraffes, buffalos, gazzellas, lions and many more. We visited Tarangire National Park, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Lake Manyara and each place had something new to offer.
My highlight was the amazing, warm and very hospitable Tanzanian people as well as getting to know Masai people and their culture. We did a walk with Masai people who were sharing their immense knowledge about plants, how to use them and animals. My son learnt how to make fire using wooden sticks.
Overall, the safari was the real deal !!! Long hours in the jeep driven off road and encounters of wild animals that by now feel at ease when jeeps with tourists pass by and observe them with curiosity. We came back fulfilled and very happy that we could add safari to our life experience.

Amazing experience!
We had 6 day tented lodge safari and we visited Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
There was only two of us in the car with our guide/driver Adson so it was like private tour. Adson was an excellent driver and very patient guide. Very genuine person. He knew alot about the animals and told us very interesting facts during the game drives and he really seems to enjoy his job. He also didn't hurry at all when ever we wanted to stop watching animals, taking pictures or just enjoy some views.
During the game drives we saw almost all possible animals and many of them very close by. Lions, elephants, buffalos, hippopotamus, giraffes, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, zeebras, many different antilopes and lots and lots more!! We got so lucky we even saw 3 rhinos at the same time in Serengeti! It was so rare and beautiful moment!
Everything went so smoothly and as planned. We didn't need to worry at all. The tented lodges were very nice and safe to stay. Amazing moments listening the wildlife at night while trying to sleep. Lions roaring and hyenas laughing, monkeys jumping on tents roof and zeepras eating the grass just a few meters away from the tentes. Food was good in many of the places and hygienic seemed good.
Overall very good value for your money!
From the very first moments when we contacted to Shemeji safari everything went so well. Super nice and fast customer service. Very reliable.
We definitely recommend this company and experience to everyone!!
We couldn't ask for more. Just perfect!
(At least) once in a life time experience.
Tansania forever in our hearts! Asante <3

barnabas was energetic, fun and lead a great adventure!
The tour was great, very action packed and Barnabas was very welcoming, sharing a wealth of knowledge about the African lands. We were picked up everyday on time and accommodations for lunch were enjoyed in various picnic locations. Our driver was enthusiastic and very helpful with any questions we had. We very much enjoyed our experience. accommodations were also very enjoyable and luxurious!

Gave us the experience we wanted
Very well priced and got to see a lot! We explored multiple different parks in northern Tanzania and got to see lots of different animals up close in their natural environments. Our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable.

Fantastic safari.
We went on a 3 day safari. We were picked up at the airport and taken to our hotel for one night and started our safari the following morning. Bariki was a fantastic guide, he’s knowledgeable, punctual and helpful and great company. Our first day was around Tarangire national park which was amazing, we saw so many different animals and birds, had a great packed lunch with an incredible view. On the way back we visited some Masai people and saw how they make fire etc. we got back to our accommodation about 6pm. The accommodation was was mind blowing! What an amazing place, waking up to zebras and wildebeest walking around the tents and seeing hippos munching away while eating supper. Sitting inside the tent listening to zebras munching on grass. The second day was Ngorongoro crater, another mind blowing day, third day was Manyara lake. Every day was incredible. We enjoyed every moment.
I WhatsApp’d a few times to ask some questions about the weather etc and got a fast response which was reassuring.
This was a holiday of a lifetime and everything was perfect. Thank you so much for making that happen.
