Excellent tour operator!
5/5

We went one a 7-day trip with Home to Africa in October 2019 which was excellent. The trip included Murchison Falls, Fort Portal, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda. It was very well organised, we liked all the selected accomodations and our driver-guide was great! He was very experienced and spotted a lot of animals for us in the national parks. Home to Africa is definitely recommendable!

BEST TRIP EVER
5/5

You are reading this review since you deciding on what tour company to choose for your Uganda safari experience. I was in the same boat as you are right now. Honestly, look no further. Home to Africa is the best choice by far. We chose Home to Africa because it was a local company and the reviews were amazing. The trip planning with Elias in the office was so easy. He answered all our questions in an extremely efficient manner, offered great suggestions, and completely customized our 15 day trip to exactly what we wanted. This trip was life changing and we loved every second of it.

This was our first safari trip and we were not sure what to expect. If you are new to going on a safari with a tour guide, you might not know how vital it is to have a great driver and guide. We won the lottery when we met our tour guide Karim. Karim started off as our tour guide and by the end of the tour he was part of our family. Friendly and always with a smile, he ensured that our trip was a total success. He was there for us any second we needed him and he did more than just the itinerary to make us completely happy. He somehow knew exactly what we needed or wanted and how to give us the best service. Every time we would reach a lodge, he made sure that he talked to the lodge so that we would receive the best service possible. He was very well respected amongst the communities and we knew that we got special treatment because of Karim. For example, a ferry had just left the dock, saw us with Karim and backed up to get us. He was an amazing driver and we felt super safe driving with him. Some of the roads he had to navigate were unpaved or under repair. Despite this, he was always a cool, calm, and careful driver no matter long he had to drive in a day. He also would wash and clean the vehicle every day. Karim stayed in the same lodges as we did and we ate lunch and dinner together. We loved having him join us. He would then discuss what we experienced that day and then would brief us on what to wear the next day (eg. The gorilla trek is tomorrow, wear this and that) and what time we would have to come to breakfast. As far as the animals, since really that is the main reason why we are going on the safari, we had so much luck. There is no guarantee that you will see all the animals, however, I believe that a high percent of seeing them is the knowledge and the experience of the guide. Karim seemed to know where the animals liked to hide. We had the experience of seeing a lioness walk towards our vehicle which was unreal. The tree lions hadn’t been spotted in a week and we drove into the park and saw them in 7 minutes. Our highlight was seeing the gorillas and this experience was simply unreal. We were so lucky that is only took us 27 minutes to get to the gorillas. We learned a lot about the Ugandan culture from him as well. He went the extra mile, above and beyond to fulfill all our wishes, and at the same time he always made sure that we had lots of time to relax.

The lodges we stayed at were amazing, each with their own special attributes. At each lodge, the staff was fantastic and the service was amazing. The food on the trip was way beyond what we expected. Every meal was fantastic, usually with multiple courses for dinner, and reasonably priced alcohol at the lodges. Considering how remote the lodges were, we were very surprised by how good and varied the food choices were. Most of the food was grown right there at the lodge so it was so fresh and delicious.

We really can't say enough about our experience with Home to Africa. Everything was way beyond our expectations and for a very reasonable price compared to what many companies are offering. If you’re planning a trip to Uganda, book it through Home to Africa. You won’t regret it! And remember to ask for KARIM when planning your trip.

Amazing time on 8 day safari
5/5

In November, my husband and I booked Home to Africa Tours for an 8 day custom safari in Uganda. They were so easy to work with, fast to reply and accommodated some last minute itinerary changes. We had an amazing time with our guide Karim visiting multiple national parks across the country. Karim was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and the parks - there was no question that he couldn’t answer! He even spotted multiple leopards during our game drives - a highlight of our trip! The lodges (mid-range options) they chose were beautiful and so comfortable, and all logistics during the trip were seamless. We’re so glad we chose them and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!

Amazing!
5/5

I booked my trip from the UK, and made all the arrangements fairly late on (July/August for a September departure). The guys at Home To Africa were great. There were some issues, when booking, such as small price increases, but this is because Home To Africa don't build in contingencies, which is why they offer such a competitive price. They're also very transparent: in one instance, it seemed to be cheaper to book a hotel on Expedia than through them, but I had already paid them. They were fine with us booking it ourselves, and just returned the cash in USD to us when we arrived. Derek was a fantastic guide; passionate, friendly and knowledgable. I never met Elias (owner), but he was great at responding to email, and he provided a fantastic service.

A really memorable Uganda safari arranged flawlessly by Home to Africa
5/5

I was planning a Uganda safari for myself, my wife and 4 close friends. We decided on Uganda as we have been to the more mainstream safari destinations and wanted to try another up and coming African destination. I contacted several Uganda based safari companies almost 12 months ago and Home to Africa was the best at almost instant communications. After a few email discussions, we settled on a 12 day safari plus 2 days before in Entebbe and then 3 days on Sesse Islands at the end of the safari. I wanted to use a local Uganda company as by doing that one ensures one's money goes to companies based in Uganda rather than using an international company. I did make some enquiries before sending off quite a large deposit to secure the holiday and accommodation and was assured Home to Africa was a very trustworthy company. All the logistics and bookings were flawlessly done by Hedmond at Home to Africa and when we arrived in Entebbe we met our guide, Karim, who was to be our travelling guide for the entire safari time. Karim was fabulous throughout. Unfailingly polite and such a knowledgeable guide for all animal and bird species found. He also discussed how people live in Uganda. The lodge accommodations were all perfect and we saw so much wildlife as well as stunning scenery. We all had a memorable holiday and would have no hesitation in recommending Home to Africa to anyone thinking of booking a Uganda holiday.

19 day pearl of Africa safari
5/5

Very prompt, helpful responses to emails. Great help in fitting in everything we wanted to do. Good advice and good record keeping. The accommodation was all first class and yet varied in style which made it more interesting. Our guide, Karim, was amazingly knowledgeable and he looked after us very carefully making sure we were always safe. He had a good sense of humour and was lovely to spend time with. The safari game parks were all slightly different in landscape, animals and birds and Karim explained all this to us. We met many people in the local communities and saw various community projects which helped us understand more about life in Uganda. We had a wonderful time that we will always treasure, and thank you for making it possible for us.

Timely and efficient responses to e-mail requests which was followed by a superbly organised safari.
5/5

We visited 4 national parks. The lodges were all of a good or excellent quality. Staff were unfailingly helpful and efficient. The wildlife was exceptional and surpassed our expectations. Our Toyota van was comfortable if a bit retro. Our guide was very efficient and had excellent knowledge of Uganda's wildlife.

Incredible 15 days in Uganda and Rwanda!
5/5

Home to Africa, and our guide Benon, were wonderful to deal with every step of the way. Home to Africa was very responsive and helpful in creating a 15-day custom tour for the two of us. Our accommodation (moderate) was excellent throughout. Getting to learn from Benon was a real highlight of the trip because he has a great knowledge of animals, and a lot of passion for showing Uganda’s beauty to newcomers. He is an excellent guide and you can count yourself lucky if you’re on one of his tours.

Murchison Falls, the Kazinga channel, and gorilla trekking in Bwindi were a few major highlights, but every stop was enjoyable.

We ended our trip in Rwanda for a quick two days to see Kigali’s sights, including the Rwandan Genocide Memorial. Our guide in Rwanda - Cyprian - was also great.

It was wonderful to be able to see both countries in one trip, and Home to Africa was excellent and reliable throughout.

Thank you for the true trip of a lifetime.

Wonderful experience in Uganda
5/5

My wife and I went on a tour of Uganda relying on Home to Africa and I must say that it was a happy choice.
During the preparation of the tour they were very quick to answer our questions and very willing to meet our requests including that of carrying out a day of rafting on the Nile.
Upon arrival their guide was waiting for us, Mr. Derrick, an exquisite person, very nice, helpful and at the same time highly professional.
The lodges that had booked for us turned out to be even higher than our expectations and, in any case, among the best in the area for the range we chose.
The whole tour took place on time and in the best way.
We have only one thing to say:
Thanks to our guide Derrick and Home to Africa for the wonderful experience that made us live.
