Amazing time on 8 day safari
In November, my husband and I booked Home to Africa Tours for an 8 day custom safari in Uganda. They were so easy to work with, fast to reply and accommodated some last minute itinerary changes. We had an amazing time with our guide Karim visiting multiple national parks across the country. Karim was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and the parks - there was no question that he couldn’t answer! He even spotted multiple leopards during our game drives - a highlight of our trip! The lodges (mid-range options) they chose were beautiful and so comfortable, and all logistics during the trip were seamless. We’re so glad we chose them and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!

BEST TRIP EVER
You are reading this review since you deciding on what tour company to choose for your Uganda safari experience. I was in the same boat as you are right now. Honestly, look no further. Home to Africa is the best choice by far. We chose Home to Africa because it was a local company and the reviews were amazing. The trip planning with Elias in the office was so easy. He answered all our questions in an extremely efficient manner, offered great suggestions, and completely customized our 15 day trip to exactly what we wanted. This trip was life changing and we loved every second of it.
This was our first safari trip and we were not sure what to expect. If you are new to going on a safari with a tour guide, you might not know how vital it is to have a great driver and guide. We won the lottery when we met our tour guide Karim. Karim started off as our tour guide and by the end of the tour he was part of our family. Friendly and always with a smile, he ensured that our trip was a total success. He was there for us any second we needed him and he did more than just the itinerary to make us completely happy. He somehow knew exactly what we needed or wanted and how to give us the best service. Every time we would reach a lodge, he made sure that he talked to the lodge so that we would receive the best service possible. He was very well respected amongst the communities and we knew that we got special treatment because of Karim. For example, a ferry had just left the dock, saw us with Karim and backed up to get us. He was an amazing driver and we felt super safe driving with him. Some of the roads he had to navigate were unpaved or under repair. Despite this, he was always a cool, calm, and careful driver no matter long he had to drive in a day. He also would wash and clean the vehicle every day. Karim stayed in the same lodges as we did and we ate lunch and dinner together. We loved having him join us. He would then discuss what we experienced that day and then would brief us on what to wear the next day (eg. The gorilla trek is tomorrow, wear this and that) and what time we would have to come to breakfast. As far as the animals, since really that is the main reason why we are going on the safari, we had so much luck. There is no guarantee that you will see all the animals, however, I believe that a high percent of seeing them is the knowledge and the experience of the guide. Karim seemed to know where the animals liked to hide. We had the experience of seeing a lioness walk towards our vehicle which was unreal. The tree lions hadn’t been spotted in a week and we drove into the park and saw them in 7 minutes. Our highlight was seeing the gorillas and this experience was simply unreal. We were so lucky that is only took us 27 minutes to get to the gorillas. We learned a lot about the Ugandan culture from him as well. He went the extra mile, above and beyond to fulfill all our wishes, and at the same time he always made sure that we had lots of time to relax.
The lodges we stayed at were amazing, each with their own special attributes. At each lodge, the staff was fantastic and the service was amazing. The food on the trip was way beyond what we expected. Every meal was fantastic, usually with multiple courses for dinner, and reasonably priced alcohol at the lodges. Considering how remote the lodges were, we were very surprised by how good and varied the food choices were. Most of the food was grown right there at the lodge so it was so fresh and delicious.
We really can't say enough about our experience with Home to Africa. Everything was way beyond our expectations and for a very reasonable price compared to what many companies are offering. If you’re planning a trip to Uganda, book it through Home to Africa. You won’t regret it! And remember to ask for KARIM when planning your trip.

Excellent tour operator!
We went one a 7-day trip with Home to Africa in October 2019 which was excellent. The trip included Murchison Falls, Fort Portal, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda. It was very well organised, we liked all the selected accomodations and our driver-guide was great! He was very experienced and spotted a lot of animals for us in the national parks. Home to Africa is definitely recommendable!

Very Enjoyable
I was born in Uganda and so I asked for a personalised itinerary as I wanted to visit my home town of Soroti and also Mbale. Hedmond was very helpful and after couple of changes I was happy and could not wait to start my tour. The price quoted for the safari was reasonable and good value for money. Our guide//driver Derick was very helpful and caring and made our holiday a memorable one.
The hike up the Mt Elgon to Sipi falls was amazing and very beautiful. We also visited Murchison Falls National park and saw lot of wild life. The highlight was the boat ride to the falls and the hike up to the top of the falls with so many different viewpoints. Also went Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary and saw Malaika(mum)with Elias(baby). We also came across another pregnant female with two older young ones.
Then we visited QE National park and the highlight was the boat ride on Kazinga channel. Lot of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and birds.
The game drive was excellent as well. Came across one charging bull. All the pools were full of hippos and couple of them were shared with buffaloes. Lot of other wild animals as well and luck enough to see lions.
Thank you Home to Africa for a wonderful safari. I am impressed with the service you provided and attention to details.

What an amazing adventure!
Planning & organization with the company was exceptional before, during and after the tour. The company was responsive throughout the process and made recommendations on the overall tour for our group of 6 friends. Thank you Elias and team for helping us out and planning this amazing trip.
The tour was culturally rich as well as opportunity to be with nature and an abundance of wildlife. We saw lions, gorillas, chimpanzees, zebra, elephants, giraffes, worthogs, water buffalo, birds and so much more. We also had the opportunity of being with the people of Uganda and ventured through several villages including a specific pygmy village where they performed (sang songs and danced) for our group - a wonderful experience learning about the Pygmy people.
The food and lodgings were mixed (some better than others), but all were great and included private sleeping and bathroom facilities for each couple. Parkview lodge was probably our favorite because of the swimming pool but each offered something wonderful. The food was plentiful and excellent! Morning crepes/pancakes, toast (bread is fresh), soups and rolex were excellent and so much fresh fruit - we didn't lose any weight for sure!
The vehicle we had was in great condition even though it took a beating due to many dirt roads. Our gear for 6 people fit inside with no problem when transferring from one lodge to another lodge and there was always bottled water available. Our driver/guide kept it very clean too even after rainy/muddy days.
Our driver/guide Karim is the best one I've ever had on any trip. He genuinely cared about our experiences and worked very hard to ensure we enjoyed all the aspects of the tour and he kept us safe and reminded us on the do's and don'ts along the way. With Karim is was also evident that he knows everyone along the way, this came in handy when we missed our ferry (but they came back to get us once they saw Karim...seriously). Karim became our friend and family and we'll keep in touch with him.
We made a lifetime of wonderful memories with Karim and Home to Africa Tours and Travel. I highly recommend travel with this operator - you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful Experience
My brother and I only had a couple of days in Uganda and wanted to get a lot of things in the schedule. Thanks to Home to Africa, it was all possible. They were very accommodating. I am a vegetarian and never had a problem getting something to eat. There was some mix up from the main office about locations on our schedule, but Nasser, our wonderful guide went out of his want to correct it and get us where we needed to go. He was very knowledgeable about Africa itself as well as the locations we visited and the animals we saw. It was also evident that he had a lot of experience as other guides from other touring companies kept coming to him for advice. I would say that all in all, Home to Africa provides reasonably priced tours but what made our trip fantastic was our guide, Nasser. Don't ever lose him!

Africa at it’s best
The whole trip exceeded our expectations. Everything worked very well. Our guide spoke very good english, he was capable of answering all our questions, he was very responsible and punctual but most importantly very friendly and easy going so it felt more like travelling with a friend rather than with a guide. The programme was outstanding as well.
