Amazing experiences in Uganda with Home To Africa
5/5

We have just returned from an 11 day to Uganda with Home To Africa. Everything went incredibly smoothly. Our guide, Sam, was knowledgeable, friendly and open to just about any conversation. We saw all the animals we had hoped for (gorillas, chimps, lions, giraffes, zebras and elephants) and a myriad of different types of antelope. The leopard remained elusive so we may have to come back! Sam is an excellent spotter and he also knows birds very well. This was our first visit to Africa and first safari. A memorable trip indeed.

The office team was responsive from first inquiry through the booking process and beyond. All our questions were answered, usually within a few hours in spite of an 8-hour time difference. This was an easy trip to arrange and the staff deserves all the credit.

As a bonus, Home To Africa supports local charity works. In addition to the donation they make when you book, we had the opportunity to visit a local community and meet children - mostly orphaned - for whom we had brought school supplies and clothing. This was a very special opportunity to experience Uganda.

Èxcellent trip...well organised
5/5

The trip exceeded expectations from the great communication with Elias at the outset to the sad goodbye to our driver/ guide Karim at the end of 16 days. Very well organised, we felt privileged to be shown Uganda by such a great guide and always felt our comfort and enjoyment was Karim's number 1 priority. If I was to change anything it would be to have spent longer with Home to Africa looking after us ...thank you.

Excellent Tour Operator
5/5

Thanks so much to Elias for helping to organise our trip, and to Paul for being such an excellent guide. I was amazed and how quickly and efficiently Elias was able to communicate via email. I would literally receive responses within minutes which made planning very easy. He was quickly on hand to amend our plans when the airline changed our flight home. The tour was great, some of the accommodation was really special and memorable and the Gorilla track was a genuine once in a lifetime experience that was worth every cent. I can only encourage anyone looking to travel to East Africa to put your trust in Home to Africa, as I doubt you’ll find a better option in this region that offers such great value.

Diverse itinerary, great lodging and meals, good price for experiences, an amazing adventure!
5/5

The communications were good, but few, so one has to be good following up or comfortable that all is being taken care of. One suggestion to this company is to write a list of necessary items and actions, ie links to Visa, inoculations required, best items to pack, etc. Once the itinerary was set communication was minimal but Elias answered every email of mine sufficiently. The service was great! we were picked up at Entebbe airport late (2300) by a smiling Sam, our next 8-day driver and guide and he toured us through the parks and lodging and joined us for several meals. He even stopped for birds along the route. Sam had excellent knowledge of the country, politics, wildlife. For my comfort, he should slow down through the communities since there are people, animals and motorcycles on the narrow roads. Our expectations of this trip were met and soared above, everything, even the incredible thunder storm in the middle of our first morning (sleeping), was fabulous! Hiking to see gorillas and walking with the chimps were favorite treks. Food was AWESOME, and we are vegetarians (but eat some dairy and fish), and there were delicious vegan meals too. Our favorite lodging was at The Bush Lodge, where when we turned out our patio tent lights, a hippo and water buffalo foraged nearby, and slightly further away, a lion roared! On our last day Elias had a guide/driver from Lake Bunyonyi (ahhh, talk about relaxing!) take us to Rwandan border, while Oscar, met us and patiently waited while we went through customs. He is Rwandan so knew the country well and took us to lunch and then the Genocide museum before taking us to the airport. He was a most excellent driver. We like that Home To Africa gives back to the community and is a Ugandan-based tour company. Yes, we highly recommend them!

Excellent, go with Karim and have the best safari ever!
5/5

We were lucky to book with this company.  Karim,  our guide made this holiday one of the best. He was very professional,  exprienced,  kind, caring and informative . He was there for us any second we needed him and he did more than just the itinerary to make us completely happy and satisfied. I am British and my husband is German and I should admit that it is not easy to please us. He went the extra mile, above and beyond to fulfill all our wishes,  at the same time he always considered enough time for our relaxation.
He was very organised, excellent companion and had a great sense of humour.
If you are new to doing safari with tour, you might not know how vitall it is to have a great driver and guide . We can promise you that if you go with Karim, you will be in good hands and you will love every second of your holiday.  I am sure that this company has got lots of good guides, however we had the chance to be with one. I can say they all care about the clients and will support you all through your holiday.

Karim was very protective and we felt super safe with him. He was so unbelievably patient all through our journey. Always smiling,  engaging and entertaining us, even after long hours driving he was interested to give us a great surprise.  He stopped in the local market so we could buy fresh fruit, took us to the local school so we could give sweets to the children , took us to the best honey shop in the country, stopped to introduce local food and sometimes even during the transfer to show us a bird or tell us about the area.
He did so mamy things voluntary without even being on the list or asked, only to make us happy. He knew exactly what we wanted and how to give us the best service. We felt special in the accommodation, because he made sure on arrival that they look after us. We had unfortunately a bad experience in Tanzania with another tour operator. Karim even said sorry for the treatment we got from another tour operator in another company.  The point is how courtous and well mannered he is. Everyone says there is no guarantee to see all the animals,  although this is to some extent true, however 95 percent is the knowledge and the experience of the guide. Karim could read the body language of the animals and from the way they were looking or standing in a group,  he could spot lions and leopards.  He knew their hiding places and the way he patiently drove have us the opportunity to spot more. He cleaned the car every day and stopped in amazing spots so we could have lunch.
If only I knew home to Africa offers tours for all east African countries.  So you can trust them that they will look after you. If you need any videos or pictures text me please.  We did the 10 day private safari. One tip is most luxurious  tents are as good and sometimes better than lodges. One place you should not miss is lake Bunyonyi. People in Uganda are superlovely and you have tourism police for extra security of tourists every where even in some lodges. I have never felt so safe in any country.  I can't wait to go back and see the rest.
Thanks home to Africa

Most Amazing Experience!
5/5

Growing up in Africa and knowing how service delivery can be at times, I can highly recommend Home to Africa for anyone planning a trip to Uganda or Rwanda! They by far exceeded our expectations. My wife and I came up with the idea to go to Uganda and go gorilla trekking literally a week before our departure date. Elias and his team were on top of everything from the get go and within minutes of emailing him I received a reply with a detailed four day itinerary tailored specifically around our schedule and flight times.
Once we arrived in Uganda we were met by our excellent guide Julius who looked after us during our tour and also drove us around the country safely in sometimes challenging conditions. He also went the extra mile and took us down to Lake Victoria before our flight back home as we arrived a bit early in Entebbe.
Everywhere we went our accommdation was comfortable, clean and had the most spectacular views, especially the gorilla camp which looked out over the Bwindi forest. The food was good and the beers were cold.
The absolute highlight of our trip was the gorilla trek and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something different in life. It is extremely well organised and groups are kept small (only 8 people per group) which makes the expereince just so much better. Nothing can really prepare you for seeing these animals in the wild and natural habitat for the first time.
Elias and his team are extremely professional and Elias even phoned me before our flight back home to follow up and make sure everything went according to plan. We would love to return one day and spend more time in this beautiful country.

A fantastic trip around Uganda and all that it offers
5/5

If you are interested in a once in a lifetime safari and to get the full experience of Africa and its nature and lifestyle I would highly recommend Home to Africa.

You are supplied with a driver who takes you around Uganda and its national parks who is a local and therefore very knowledgable about what you are experiencing. We had the fantastic Derrick who was humble, caring and very skilled at his job. Ask for him, you will be so satisfied!

If you happen to be interested in going to Uganda I would suggest booking for as many days as you can since there is so much to see. Fantastic national parks, waterfalls, the Nile, villages and the primate trekking is stunning and something you don't want to miss out on.

The lodges where you are staying are very comfortable and the food is amazing.

Note that if you are embarking on this journey you will need to adapt to the safari "lifestyle" and be prepared with comfortable walking shoes, sporty outfits and some sort of headwear. Pack your rainclothes and wellington boots, especially if you are going chimp-trekking which is situated in the rain forest. When in contact with the Home to Africa office don't be afraid to ask what they think you should pack for the trip since it is pretty hard to imagine what you will be needing while in Uganda. For us Scandinavians who are used to a totally different climate it would have been great if we had gotten a bit more help with our packing, so be sure to ask either the office or someone you know who is familiar with this type of trip.

If you are going to do the Gorilla trekking, which is breathtaking, take a long hard honest look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are able to climb hilly muddy mountains with thick forrests and steep paths. We struggled with this trekking since we are not an active family and it would have been nice to know what we were getting ourselves into. It is NOT a walk in the park, it is trecherous, but definately worth it.
