Welcoming, Friendly and Knowledgeable
We did a 4-day Safari and 7-day Beach stay. We arrived at resort in the early morning after a very long journey to be met by a loverly man on reception who was conscious of how we must be feeling so booked us in very efficiently and quickly. It was a bit of a surprise to find out that we were off again a 4am the next day but everything was very well managed. Considering we were there for such a short time the welcome we got when we returned was amazing, the same receptionist was there and he remembered not only our names but little details from our brief conversation - it felt like coming home.
Safari - we did 3 games drives, 1 boat safari and a bush trek. All were very well managed, informative and ran smoothly. Our first game drive started as soon as we got off the plane (our luggage was taken to the lodge) with Denis as our driver/guide. Our group was us (an English couple) and 5 Guests from Germany (one spoke good English so translated for the others) so Denis adapted his talks to allow all of us to understand and learn. We really bonded as a group and from then on Denis was our driver/guide of choice and took us on all of our game drives. We cannot praise Denis enough, he took onboard what we were hoping to see and did not let us down, we saw everything and more (including a Loin on 2 different days). We didn't see a Jaguar but that was not for the lack of Denis using his extensive knowledge to try and find one. There was only a couple of very little negatives at the lodge - the lack of seating in the bar area especially for just 2 people (should you want some time as a couple) and sun loungers/seating around the pool. However, there is work going on at the moment so this could change. Apart from that we very much enjoyed our 4 nights with them.
Reef and Beach Resort - We arrived back from Safari in the early morning but our rooms were not ready until 1pm so our tip is to pack your beach wear at the top of your return luggage so you can change (there are changing rooms in some toilet blocks but toilets are roomy enough for this). You can safely leave your luggage at reception and enjoy your time around the resort. There are so many places to relax or have a drink and the on-site facilities are good. We recommend using Crab Tours who are on site to book excursions as they are reasonably priced even if it's just 2 people. We booked the Stone Town Tour and had a car & driver plus our own tour guide for around £45 each. Our room was spacious with good air con and lovely Bathroom. Again, a couple of things could be better such as seating in the main dining area. The food was loverly with a good choice and all on the ground floor. However, there is limited seating on the ground floor but plenty upstairs where it is very nice. However, there is only a very limited food selection upstairs so you either have to go up and down (stairs are steep) or go with the limited options (there was also no A La Carte when we were there). We are also used to a having someone come around the pool/beach/seating areas asking if you want drinks which doesn't happen here but that's fine, just an observation. Again, there is work going on around the resort so things could change.
We have been to other parts of Africa before but this was our first time in Zanzibar and Tanzania. All the Paradise and Wilderness staff we had contact with were true ambassadors for their country. It was the people we met in Resort, on Safari and our trip to Stone Town (not to be missed by the way) that made this holiday special for us. Resort and Lodge were clean, tidy and well maintained (although as I said there is work going on in both but this is being done with minimum/no impact on guests). Nothing was too much trouble and everyone we met or passed said Jambo and smiled. Such wonderful people, we would (have) recommend to friends.

A varied experience, loved the safari- but was hungry, beach was great and rested with better food.
Loved the safari experience- the animals and the tour was amazing. The guide and people too, were fantastic. The food for lunch and dinner whilst on safari was poor. Make use of the amazing ingredients to make beautiful meals as opposed to trying to make western meals poorly.
Beach was amazing. As we're all staff.

great safari in Tanzania & great relaxation in Zanzibar
Elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, buffaloes, hyenas and many other animals in the immediate vicinity and then the great bungalow in the Reef & Beach Resort on Zanzibar - simply wonderful!
Many thanks to the service staff and the safari guides!

Great experience for a once only trip
So. Don’t expect a room on arrival if you’ve travelled all night ! So tired ! But the staff are lovely and rooms are all you need. Food is plentiful in the main buffet but try the other restaurants.
Safari was amazing. The guides were exceptional. But this is not a trip for young children. A French family with a child that wouldn’t listen to the guides almost spoilt our whole trip. But. Overall a great experience.

Love the combo sea + safari
Couple holiday. We spent 10 days between Zanzibar and Safari.
We loved the kindness of the staff and the areas were very nice.
Having just one week I would have preferred going safari straight away and then having time to relax 4 full days in Zanzibar.
Did like: beach and its bars
Could be better: food variety at restaurant.

They did a good job overall
We had a wonderful safari, with the big five at the end! If there was a problem, it was always resolved, but sometimes it takes a while, after all, it is not a European pace. Pole Pole, that's a slogan that everyone adheres to. If you set your mind to that, you'll be just fine! The accommodations were fine for 1 night, had 1 cold shower. Flying back didn't go like it did on the way there, but we got there, that's the most important thing. Hakuna Matata, I can look back on this trip with a good feeling, although I was a little annoyed with the "general manager" during the 2nd week. But it works differently in Zanzibar than here in the Netherlands.

Great but details are sketchy!
On the whole the trip was amazing. The beach hotel was beautiful with great food. The safari was made by the guides, they were absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable and really interesting and we saw so many animals. The downsides were that the first day of the safari started at 3am and we stepped from the plane into the jeep. By the time we stoped for coffee and a small cake at 10am we were starving. Lunch at 1pm and then nothing until dinner at 7.30pm. We received no itinerary so didn’t expect to go straight off on safari. The days ended at 4pm, the lodge only had cold water and dinner wasn’t until 7.30pm. It would have been good to have known this so we could have taken snacks and ensured we had what we needed with us. We were told it was a bush walk and boat safari on day 1 but that was actually day 2. No info at all on itinerary or what to expect. The bush walk was incredible, wished it had lasted longer. The guides were amazing as were the Maasai.

Wonderful guided safari adventure
Our safari experience was outstanding. Excellent guides and our fabulous driver
'Hami'. He made sure our game drives were comfortable and that we saw an amazing selection of wildlife including the wildebeast migration! All staff in the camps were delightful. A particular mention to the brilliant Moisanga at Massai Boma. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and full of lovely staff. Food could be better but we went to Tanzania to see wildlife and we had an unforgettable holiday.

Good value and lovely experience
We really enjoyed our Safari from pick-up at Arusha airport through the parks and back. Our ranger (Ole) was friendly, knowlegeable and a good driver.
The campingsites were better than expected; and hearing the animals at night was so beautiful.
