Beautiful encounter in and with the heart of Africa
All arranged smoothly by Paradise and Wilderness we arrived at the beautiful Africa Safari Camp. We really liked the natural appearance of the accomodation, the friendly people at the camp attending our every needs, and the way the camp is situated in the middel of nature.
Besides the Game Drive with experienced driver/guides, you can join a riversafari, a bush walk and a visit at a local village. The bush walk was informative, and entertaining, ending with making a fire the Masaai-way. It was great fun. The bootsafari in the early morning was enchanting, the broad Rufuji river with the high banks. And off course we spotted a few hippo-families, resting in the water to hide from the sun. In the middle of the Camp is a nice pool, particulary suitable for a refreshing bath. I really appreciate the way they find a balance between nature and comfort. I will not easy forget the beautiful starry nights at the bonfire with the sounds of the little animals like the bushbaby and the crickets. Everything was very clean and everyday clean towels waited for us folded in a beautiful way with some flowers from the garden.

Great welcome with very kind and help-full people at the Camp close to the Selous game-reserve.
We had a warm welcome from de people of the camp (Selous Game Reserve). I felt directly save and at home. Our room was very well furnished, clean and in African style. A nice, big bed, ceiling fans, mosquito net atmospheric lighting. Comfortable bathroom with warm and cold water.
A round pool to cool down.
The restaurant is well equipped and we enjoyed the breakfast, lunches and dinners. Also good possibilities for my vegetarian wife. I enjoyed the bar.
The parc-visit was exciting: in an open car we saw many animals and the driver know how to take care. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, crocodiles, hippo's, lions, vultures and a lot of other different birds, waterbucks, and zebra's. The driver had a lot of knowledge of the nature and the animals.
I really felt in contact with the African nature also because it was pure not too touristy.

WONDERFUL
Lucian is great,she arranged everything, exactly the way we wanted it to be. Paradise Wilderness is a very price/quality agency.
Our driver Magoma is very talented and knows a lot about Safaris, animals and is very kind.
All Tanzanian people are very nice to each other. We slept in the lake Manyara Tent, it is very clean and relaxing. We also stayed in the Serengeti Park and this is a MUST to do, there is a very special atmosphere and the landscape is just speechless!
This is for sure one of the best family holidays ever!

After payment you will feel poor but after safari you feel that you are the richest person alive.
Here are the reasons why I have chosen Shemeji Safari:
(1) quick replies
(2) a proper PDF offer with descriptions, pictures and prices
(3) payment can be made to an European bank
We ordered 4-days lodge safari for 2pax.
The tour took us through Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro National Park, Serengeti National Park & Ngorongoro Crater. If you choose the same trip, you better take your warm clothes with you (I mean winter jacket, seriously)!
Our guide Patrick was very skillful driver. You will experience some African massage. There are a lot of driving on different roads.
Accommodations were incredible. Dinners and breakfasts were delicious. I didn't like our lunch boxes as I saw what others ate for lunch (pasta, huge sandwiches, fresh fruits). I am very picky when it comes to food, so maybe you will not have the same issue during your safari. I still suggest you to buy some snacks for backup.
It is hard to describe all the emotions when you see wild animals in their natural environment. You cannot leave Africa without going to a safari. I recommend to do the safari with a local guide because they will take you to the best locations. They communicate with each other by radio to find most rare animals.

Discover wild and friendly Africa in an unforgetable way
The whole trip was discussed in personal contact with Lucian and arranged taylor made. Starting at the beautiful Mayara Lake camp where you can taste the Tanzanian friendlyness in the middle of the African nature. From there we had a long tour including NGoro-NGoro, 2 days Serengeti, and Lake Natrong, which gave us an impresive good view on, one of the still unspoiled less cultivated Natural Environments in Africa. In the middle of the Serengeti we stayed overnight in a in a tent where you could hear the Rhino's and Lions walking around, eatin and 'socialising' in the dark. Because Tanzania is a friendly, safe and peacefull country, and the service is optimal too, the only thing we could do was enjoy our stay in real Nature :).

It was really awesome !
Spending 2 weeks on Zanzibar first half of August, we eventually decided to book a 2 day/1 night safari game drive and we did not regret it at all !
* Organisation
The whole organisation was perfect :
- collected on time from our Nungwi hotel
- flight departed on time from ZNZ to Selous
- you start the safari directly upon arrival
- you end the safari on day 2 at the airstrip
- return flight again departed on time
- transfer from ZNZ back to Nungi
* Driver/guide
We met our driver/guide JOSEPH upon arrival at the Selous airstrip.
It was his childhood dreamjob and he’s got it
He was really great : as a driver, as a guide (think encyclopedia Brittanica about animals & plants) and finally also as a person.
If we would have had a son (we have 2 lovely daughters( he would of been great
* Vehicle
We had an open 4x4 Suzuki/Maruti SJ413 with 5 individual comfortable passenger seats, staged on 3 different levels for optimal viewing.
Although it did look a little worn & torn, it did the job perfectly. Btw, after finishing, we better understood the first look of the vehicle as one does quite some 4x4 off road.
* Game drive / safari
One should know that of the so called big 5, there are only 4 possible at Selous as there are no more rhino still alive. Joseph als told us that seeing a leopard would be very fortunate.
Out of the 4, we saw 3 : lions, buffalos and Elephants Furthermore we also saw : impalas, zebras, girafes, swine (pumbas), wildebeests, hippos, crocodiles, vultures, birds of prey, various colourful birds, squirrels, baboons, other smaller monkeys.
We also saw a 1.500+ year old baobab tree, even more impressive than the Sequoia we saw in the USA.
* Accomodation
Welcomed by 3 real Maasai who actually guard the place
We only stayed 1 night :
- room : glamping tent with ac : was just ok
- food : was ok, but choice rather limited
- drinks : not very very cold and no ice…
- power shut off : from 22h00 to 05h00
Some a.m. are 1st world issues but now you know..
* Tips
- travel light (small planes…)
- bring a torch
- the roads can get dusty sometimes
- better to wear long trousers/pants/jogging
- better to wear closed shoes not sandals
- am : right side of car exposed to sun
- pm : left side of car exposed to sun
^ Bottom line
Can we recommend this company ? Absolutely !
Make sure to ask them to set you up with JOSEPH as driver/guide and a very good person
Enjoy true nature as long it is still there…

This is a most helpful, supportive, knowledgeable and professional tour operator you can imagine.
We have booked an individually planned safari trip through northern Tanzania with a beach add-on on Zanzibar. This has been a lifetime experience and we cannot stop thinking of our wonderful experiences during this privately guided tour. A major advantage is that Paradise and Wilderness (P&W) owns the hotels, lodges and camps it offers, a modern fleet of specialized safari cars, and employs their own selected guides, which all allows for the highest standards during the whole trip. Wildlife observation and game drives were the major components of the vacation in our case. We started in Arusha from a conveniently located cosy place in a quiet part of central Arusha (hotel Africa Safari Arusha). Africa Safari Lake Manyara is a lovely tented camp at the shores of the lake and allows easy exploration of the National Parks in the surroundings (Tarangire, Manyara). Continuing via Ngorongoro crater, we crossed the Serengeti and found another nice camp on its western central edge just outside the parks gate (but in the ecosystem) called Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma. Here, we experienced sleeping in the bush but in very nice high quality tents. The camp had so nice staff and very delicious food and full day service, we just loved it. This is also true for the brand-new Africa Safari Massai Boma, the newest addition to P&Ws portfolio of accommodations. Here, you sleep in a traditional round hut with all the amenities you can imagine, you also get pampered and served unbelievably good food. It also offers very authentic guided trips by the local Massai people who are really keen on teaching you what nature has to offer. The Massai tribe is also prominent in another stunning place, Lake Natron. This is such a fascinating place, a magic landscape and scenery, nice options of hiking trips, bird watching etc. – all of this very easy to do from another perfect accommodation – Africa Safari Lake Natron. This is a perfectly run new glamping camp with the most beautiful view of the lake and the mountains and the holy volcano of the Massai people. It cannot be recommended highly enough. Back in Arusha, we did game drives in the Arusha Park and walked around Lake Duluti. Another highlight was a tour to an authentic village where we were offered a very nice insights into daily subsistence life. We learned how to grow and produce coffee, sugar and all sorts of other agricultural products. If you want something real and not the usual tourist stuff, book a tour with Moivaro Cultural Tourism through P&W.
The whole safari trip was so enjoyable because of the guidance and company of the knowledgeable and most motivated guide David. He made sure we could do the maximum of wildlife observations but also helped us diving deeper into the countries rhythm and realities. We learned so much in the 2 weeks.
P&W has several hotels on Zanzibar, we stayed in a recommendable mid-range option Reef & Beach resort in Jambiani in a relaxed corner on the SE of the island.
All in all we can sum up and confidently say, if you do a safari in Tanzania, do it with P&W!
